Been listening to this from 1993 to 2023 and it amazes me still, to this day.
Nuno Bettoncourt is one the best Guitarist/Composer of the last century.

Agreed. Guy isn't merely a guitarist... Nuno's music is layered with a great deal of subtlety....
and you have to be pretty deep to not only catch on...but fully appreciate the nuances of his chording, choruses, and particularly harmonies. His stuff is just as sophisticated as the old masters, from centuries ago.
A truly great piece of art that most of the world will never know.

Spring Break, junior in high school, Myrtle Beach, three friends and I slept out on the boardwalk, with this entire song looping all night long in our tape player...
The sun literally explodes over the ocean right at the biggest part of Rise and Shine, it goes from black to hazy blue to full bright daylight in like a minute. But at exactly the right second, the giant orange ball half visible over the watery horizon shoots a wide sunbeam like a fiery lazer directly at us as it rises. The reflection was suddenly blinding and haunting all at once. As though God Almighty Himself had just turned on a giant spotlight directly towards us.
All my friends are still sleeping, but I was wide awake. One of the single coolest moments of my life in terms of timing, epic music, feeling small and seeing the majestic vastness of the stars and sun, and sensing through the words maybe God was talking directly to me in that moment. So powerful.
What a way to start a day. I'll never forget it. Thanks Extreme...
I forgot how truly awesome this piece is. Each part tells its own story just to be combined at the end. I feel Extreme was a little ahead of their time for that.
Far, far out in front. If Gary and Nuno ever had anything they wrote, that could be determined to be their "Magnum Opus"... ? This is most assuredly that song. I believe that the term "profound" applies here.
Daniel interpreted Nebuchadnezzar's dreams, explaining that his first dream about a huge statue was about the succession of different empires: the Babylonian empire being the gold, the Median Empire being the silver, the Persian Empire being the bronze, and the Hellenistic Empire being the iron. GOD is great!!!!
Typo at 1:56 ... Wou?? But, whatever, by far the most underrated album track(s?) in the history of rock. SImply epic .. Nuno is a genius.

There are loads of masterpieces in music, such as Fool's overture from Supertramp, Supper's ready from Genesis, but most of them were written in 70's, masterpieces' momentum in music. This one is special as these are getting rarer. Powerful and moving orchestra songs tend to fade into biz. Some bands intend to anyway like DreamTheater (eg : octavarium) even if it sounds colder
I have love this so since the album came out! Rediscovered it resently mainly due to there not benign much out there that is really doing it fir me lately! The mixing, mastering and seer amazing writing and performing of this master piece will away be a favourite!! Possibly on the funeral song list! Not in a morbid way, just think it will cheer every one up and let them see that there is good in life 😃

25 years now - would have been exciting to see an anniversary tour - for this most underrated album (absolute masterpiece)I imagine that samples of an orchestra would have certainly cheapen it though. Sadly, Extreme is not so financially successful so as to pay a full orchestra to join them on a tour

First time hearing this. It's OK. Mediocre lyrics at best. It's basically soft rock, so... Not really my cup of tea musically. I grew up in the 80s too... Not sure when exactly this was made tho. Queen is 1000x better.
