- This video is another example of real world IFR flying. The weather at my departure was nice. However, the weather in my destination of PDK was deteriorating rapidly as I got closer to Atlanta.

That was something! Great job, TJ! Enjoyed having you!
Thanks! .. Next time I will come in clear, blue skies ;-)
I just went to see my uncle at KPDK in my bonanza A36 this past weekend. Very busy airspace. I felt like a peasant with my tiny bonanza with all the jets there.
Dont feel bad at all!.. Most of those jet pilots don't get the freedom and luxury you have with your "tiny bonanza". You can go anywhere, anytime ;-) Enjoy!!
That controller sounded like a real peach...
Haha… The ATL controllers (like most controllers near a busy bravos) are on the ball and expect everyone to do their part :-)
My question is why would you take off without knowing what exactly the weather is going to be?
I knew what the weather would be... It was questionable EXACTLY which airport I would be able to land at. But that area of Georgia has dozens of airports nearby to my intended destination. So I knew I could easily land somewhere close. In my opinion, the key is to stay flexible and don't go beyond minimums or beyond the capabilities or you or your plane :-)
@@TJFlyingAdventures Thank you for the answer. I am working on my IFR rating and looking at the edited video one cannot understand the whole story. This helps to understand the full concept.
"will expect that" was an interesting readback of the IFR clearance!
Maybe I should have read back the whole thing … but I was picking up ifr in the air and I was already on the heading and altitude they wanted , so Daytona approach accepted it :-)
Yeah, that was the other thing that got my attention. I got my ifr in January. Just curious how common it is to file and take off VFR and get the clearance in the air.
Where I live, in the SF Bay Area, sometimes the wait for a hole for IFR release can be 15-20 mins.
Very common … here in spruce creek and also where I used to live in New York airspace … taking off vfr is way faster … just make sure u cooperate and do what they would have cleared u for anyway (i.e eastbound from Spruce Creek or towards a VOR that people are commonly cleared to :-)
Nice job! The final approach course being 15 degrees different from runway orientation would have caught me off guard if that were overlooked during the approach briefing. Excellent example of something to carefully brief before starting the approach.
Honestly… I didn’t notice it on my approach briefing … later on my debrief I saw the tiny footnote buried in the chart :-)
You managed it well! Nice job but something to remember!!
Holy cow how fast were you taxiing in the beginning?! nice job on the approach & great video!
Hmmm … I have no idea … but I don’t think it was abnormally fast
Approaches to minimums are pretty cool. Nice video, thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Sounds like a fun trip! Thanks for uploading. Love your videos!
Thanks for watching!
Wow~ was tense here too!! But~ good job, Tj!!!❤
Thanks ... Good thing Lisa was not on this flight ... She would not have enjoyed it ;-)
Well done
Thanks!
