Bullmastiff Training | dog training

To educate a Bullmastiff to a reliable dog should be self-evident for any responsible owner. The basic rules are not much different than other dogs. But one must always keep in mind: A Bullmastiff is a stubborn and intelligent dog with a strong sense of smell. He tends to make his own decisions and will never take it completely. An adult Bullmastiff weighs around 60kg and is therefore not exclusively controlled by a leash. Even if he only "jumps" a cyclist in the game, serious consequences can follow. Therefore, a consistent and loving education is an absolute duty to be able to lead the Bullmastiff safely even in stressful situations. Owners without experience with Molossern is strongly recommended a dog school!

In my near half a century training experience, breeds closely related to their ancestors, the wolf, and mastiff breeds are deep thinkers, and need constant reinforcement in their training. Much more than highly reactionary breeds, which are very comfortable memorizing what’s expected of them. This is why the military, police, and security utilize them most commonly. Keep this in mind when choosing a breed, along with many other things.
