Also when '1989' came out I was like "omg finally a song for people my age!" and legit wasn't really picking up on the actual joke.
Seriously. I remember growing up and the fact that we had LPs was just further proof that we were weird and "poor". (Now people buy the same thing twice and put the "record" on a stand. Kay.) When he riffed it (or just fondled them in general) I seriously had flashbacks to my parents ^promising^ to "bust my ass" if I let the oil from my hands touch the grooves let alone *ever* do that to vinyl or to the needle in the player. What's utterly hilarious is I had to explain to somebody 10 years older than me what an LP is and where the term "skipping a groove" *actually* meant.
Despite the fact that this album has most likely been produced using digital sampling and then was recorded and mixed digitally, somehow it feels like like Vinyl is the most appropriate medium for it..
