Brings back memories. I drove a pump. In 1969 at the old fire station full time chester station was very bad to get out of as it was in the middle. Of chester right on a very bad road in the end chester council had to put up lights to stop the traffic. Had me + 3 great boys. We had 5 minutes to get on seen we had it down to when the bells 🔔 went down to 1 minute to be out on the road. And 4 minutes to get on seen . I drove my pump like a nuter. Had to .and if we got people reported...I drove hs fast as my pump would go. I love that job now retired I would love to ride A pump one more time before I die.
Red Shutter Photography Guessing the low bridge is the one at Needham Market?- a short distance from Stowmarket and therefore probably the next nearest station 😊
I love that Bedford model especially with two tones its a beautiful
A very nice video, thank you for making this available to us all.
As an ex-FF I love videos like this.

Good morning
So retained means volunteer???
no it means they are on call and paid for the time they are attending jobs. they are paid a retainer too, hence 'retained'
Yes it does
Doc Daneeka , Ok that wasn’t very clear in the video.
@@colinwainwright2162 no it doesn't they do other jobs
No they do other jobs and have a pager that goes off if they get a shout and they are paid for the time they are on a shout
Bath fire brigade in the 80s
So you could be at a pub getting drunk and still be on call lol
You sure could; my uncles' told me stories of how they were in the shower or even in the toilet when their pagers went off.
The shower and toilet has happened to me a lot I don't stay available if I'm having a drink it's not worth it
Used to be allowed a maximum of 2 beers on station per person for drill night
Is that Dave???
