- Mauritania is one of the larger countries of Africa with not too many roads. That means, driving to certain destinations takes forever. Especially when you are not experienced with certain types of "roads", like I am. However, the areas I drove through on my way to Chinguetti were amazing. From Mountains, flatlands to dunes, it had it all. Simply stunning.

Yes it's proper dry, but it's an easy travel there. Water supplies have to be properly planned, but other than that, nothing crazy about it. :) but thank you. :)

No I didn't manage to buy one at this point. It's such a shame. I would have loved having drone shots in the dunes! :(

Cars you encounter on the road driving at excessive speed. Not for ordinary citizens. Rather, they are army vehicles, and the location of the cannon appears on their roof..

That's absolutely true. But the locals know how to drive those wavey dirt roads. If you do it with 60-80kmh with lowered tyre pressure, it doesn't destroy your car as much as it does with 15kmh, like I did. 😄 It took me forever and is was super stressful.

Schön deine Fahrt nach Chinguetti zu sehen, dort war ich 2023 mit meinem Gespann. Die Hauptpiste mit dem krassen Waschbrett hatte mich krank gemacht. Ich hatte mir Ausweichrouten gesucht. Die Locals brettern da mit 80-100 km/h drüber. Das hatte ich versucht, jedoch abgebrochen weil das Gespann kaum zu kontrollieren war. Extrem fand ich den ganzen Müll mitten im Ort.
Dir Waschbrettpiste ist schrecklich. Aber mit wenig Luft in den Reifen und 70-80km/h geht's einigermaßen. Jedoch musste eine Kleinigkeit geschweißt werden danach.. 😄
Ja der ganze Müll macht mich auch fertig. Gleichzeitig hat das ganze viele Seiten. Ein Freund von mir reist auch durch Afrika und meinte, dass hier zwar viel Müll sichtbar ist, aber nur ein kleiner Bruchteil an CO2 Emissionen entstehen. (Im Verhältnis zu Deutschland als Beispiel 0.8t vs 7.2t pro Person pro Jahr)
Das macht es nicht schöner, relativiert aber die Verschmutzung dieser Erde sehr und hilft mir auch dabei, die Perspektive zu bewahren.
