Okay I can hear it in some parts, but the vocals could do better in my opinion, because it's just lame hardcore vocals that are annoying as fuck. They don't complement the music at all. It's like he's all on his own out there.
This band is more of substructure-rip off. Which indeed was influenced by the contortionist. They were influenced by cynic and post-metal bands such as Isis.😁
Man, the instrumentals on this are amazing. The singer ruins it for me. It just sounds like he's singing over the music, not trying to complement it. I feel like if he didnt sing as often and picked and choosed when to sing, I personally would be way more down for this band. Im going to listen to this a few more times since this is my first play through and Ive never listened to these guys before. So hopefully it grows on me. I just feel like Im listening to a different version of Within The Ruins. I really want to like this band, based on the instrumentals alone.
Singing over the music? That's impossible when you mix the album in the studio. You can reduce or increase the volume of a track so it blends with the other tracks.

Most metal singers nowadays have lost the capacity of guiding you through the music, and the music has become more and more complex, in this scene. It's no secret that we don't have the Mike Pattons, the Rob Halfords and the Phil Anselmos as once.

Agree man. I would much rather have these vocals than the generic prog metal clean vocals so many bands trying to be progressive are using nowadays. They seem to be carving out a pretty unique sound for themselves.

I looked up Misery Index and heard the Calling. ugh dude I did not like that shit at all to be honest. its all thrashy and boring, and the vocals are way worse. I know its all opinions but I can't personally see how you think Misery Index is better than this.

The vocals aren't necessarily bad timbre or tone wise, but it sounds like he's struggling in some parts (voice cracks, etc.) Still heavy as balls!
