Everyone says Yuji knows Taido martial arts but if they actually looked into the manga and fan books, it's said that Yuji was trained in karate by his grandfather and that the taido kick was "something he picked up". A lot of straight and vertical punches can be seen in his Mahito smackdown as well as how his kicks transition.
