Rapid Stop Tourniquet

A rapid stop tourniquet is a medical device designed to quickly stop severe bleeding from a limb in emergency situations. It typically consists of a constricting band, often made of a durable material like nylon, with a mechanism for tightening it securely around the limb above the site of the bleeding. This tight compression effectively cuts off blood flow to the injured area, slowing or stopping the bleeding until further medical attention can be provided.
Modern rapid stop tourniquets often feature a windlass system, which allows the user to tighten the device effectively with minimal effort. Some models also incorporate a locking mechanism to maintain the desired level of compression once applied.
