- Théodred was the son of Théoden King, and the Prince of Rohan, whose time came to an unfortunate end in the war against Isengard. What I like about the new logo is that it looks like a mix between Bilbo's door with Rohan and Gondor designs.

I definitely think he would have been a great king. But he more importantly would have been able to bring back his father from the brink. Probably a reincarnation of Helm Hammerhand himself. Would love to have seen him at the charge of Pelennor fields, take down orcs and men of the east, and even get married and seeing the crowning of Aragorn. Sigh. 💔
It's not really gone into in depth but I imagine Theodred was pretty badass. He was like Eomer's big brother, and someone the future King of the Mark really looked up to.
Grimbold was a bad ass too, rallying his forces in the retreat from the Fords of Isen, and fighting and falling like a true valiant G on the Pelennor fields.
A most interesting chronicle of yet another hero of Arda, like many great warriors of Rohan Prince Théodred understood and accepted that the protection of his people demanded the most labor and sacrifice.
No parent should ever have to bury their child, his father burying him reminds me of Alfonso burying his own heir and living years after the fact consumed by grief. It also reminds me of Andromache in the Greek Myths burying Astyanax her son by Hector.
Truly, though Theodred would have made a great King, thank heavens Rohan still had Eomer as a spare heir. Thankfully Theoden did not long outlive his son and instead died as his son did; valiantly ere he went to join him.
I started binging all your videos recently after a long time, and I was excited about the new logo
It's a pity Theodred died so young and because of Isengard raiding Rohan all the time alongside the men of Dunland

I think a video on what if Théodred survived the battles at the Fords of Isen and played a bigger role in the War of the Ring would be an interesting one.

I have a “what if” video topic suggestion: What if Frodo didn’t have the mithril shirt and died in Moria? Perhaps Sam would be the new ring bearer, or would the Fellowship’s quarrel get them all killed?
Hello Yoystan I really like this video as I was always fascinated by Theodreds history and I feel like a, “What if,” video you could do is if he survived the attack from the Uruk hai. For me it wouldn’t change that much at most it’d just include another fierce warrior on the side of Rohan but I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Imagine at the Hornburg with Aragorn, Eomer, and Theodred. But would Theodred have wed Imrahil's daughter instead of Eomer? Hmm.
I am surprised he hadn't married before the War given his age. It wouldn't have worked in Tolkien's story though.

I think Théodred would have been another elder brother to Eowyn with Eomer in the early days of Eowyn, growing up with Boys...I know what's that like!!!

Good afternoon Yoystan! Always good to see another upload. New logo is legit!
I wonder that Wormtongue got as far as he did insinuating himself into Theoden's councils with Theodred alive.
Perhaps Theodred's death prevented a too-early attack on Isengard that would have prevented a decimated Rohan from arriving at the Pelennor Fields, and helping Aragorn to choose the Paths of the Dead.
I think Saruman had a great deal to do with that. Theoden was clearly under the influence of more than Grima's voice.
Your lesson from this story reminds me of my mom, who passed away earlier this week. Untimely and unnatural, and so unfair, but in mourning we owe it to our loved ones past and present to carry the torch that is passed to us.

Tolkien decided to kill Theodred for the story. Events would definitely be different for Rohan if he survived. It made King Theoden a more tragic character in the final book.
Perhaps if Theodred survived, perhaps Theodin would have also.

A most ill tragedy that Theodred was cut down while young and not able to succeed his father and prove he was equally a great hero & king of his People.

@@phajthoj : Theoden was an ordinary man. Not a pure Numenorean like Aragorn or even a less pure one like Denethor. And he was up against the most powerful of the 5 wizards - Saruman the White. Also, his closest advisor, Grima Wormtongue, was a traitor and was actually poisoning the king - not with lethal poisons but with ones designed to weaken his body and weaken his willpower.
So it’s not surprising that he fell under Saruman’s evil mind control spell.
First!
In The Two Towers film, Theodred is portrayed younger than he was in the book. His death is a major event early in the movie, whereas, in the book, it has all happened by the time the Three Hunters come to Rohan. He is brought heavily wounded albeit barely alive to Edoras and tended by Eowyn before dying. His burial is shown in the extended edition. Theodred was played by Paris Howe Strewe.

I think it is possible although other than Melian none of the Valar or Maiar are known to have had offspring. As to how powerful they would be, a lot would depend on the other parent.
I have my own private theory that Morgoth used Sauron to create dragons as Sauron was particularly known for his shapeshifting abilities; this would help explain why dragons are so intelligent and powerful. But it's just my theory; I've never run across anything in the Legendarium to support it.

I do like the new logo. I think its a little less Gondor, and a little more Rohan. Reminds me of a family crest that you would get from someone who left Gondor and formed a new house in Rohan. Bringing the crest of the citadel with them, but adopting many of the aspects of Rohan.

Strange reason for liking Theodred: In a boardgame I got in the earl 80s (or was it late 70s?) the picture of Theodred was way cooler than Eomer's,

Is there really much info about his exploits before arriving back at Helm's Deep. I have seen Tolkien's stories of the first and second Battles of the Fords of Isen, but there really was no description as to where Erkenbrand was with all his men. If he was on his way to the fords, then why didn't he attack the army from Isengard? Did he see the army was too big and moved aside to follow after them?
