They were not roommates in the sense of sharing same apartment for lower cost of rent, no strings attached (like Courtney with wes and Shayne with Damien back in the day). Of course they are living together, for like 2 years now but they still are and not "were".
Shayne is a really lucky guy.

Something I noticed a while back and now I understand why; since Courtney came out with they/them pronouns, Shayne has RARELY slipped up. The rest of the cast is still using 'she/her' a lot but I only saw him slip up twice since and he QUICKLY corrected himself. Thats a loving husband right there.
Courtney uses both she and they, although shayne and tommy use they the most often
Courtney is she/they, not they/them. She's totally comfortable with she/her being used and has talked about it on her channel.
