There should be a contest on what people can make off one of these old blades. Or how many different things you can make off one of these blades. I've seen hatchets, knives, scrapers, darts, arrow points and now scissors.
I just throw them at trees. Fun. Guys got an alright idea though. Pretty groovy. Maybe when I'm retired and have nothing but time on my hands I'll do shit like that to keep buzy.
I use my old blades differently. Get yourself a 1-inch square or round piece of timber about a metre long and slit one end lengthways to accommodate half the blade and the centre hole. Place the blade inside the slit and drill a hole through to accommodate a bolt and nut. Now take the finished product outside and attack those weeds growing up through the expansion joints in your driveway. Drag the blade through the gaps on a slight angle works best.
First thing I thought when the teeth were being cut off was.. I hope this isn’t a back yard where kids play in the grass. Ouch! Pretty cool idea though!
Great idea Paul. Thanks for sharing this. However ... I was shocked to see you working with an angle grinder on an unsecured work piece, particularly one as dangerous as a saw blade. Also, I hope those gloves are Kevlar!
@@timmcquain3855 if one were to attach 1/2 of the saw blade to the handle with nuts and bolts and do the same for the bench mount half, wouldn’t that hold up pretty well if one tightened it tightly and used lock nuts?
@@heavyhaulert9026 I was thinking the exact same thing not to mention he has to charge those cordless tools. some day soon. Some people just don't think outside the box or think at all I guess... wow I won't even begin to get into the fact that producing all the energy to charge his tools is worse for the planet then good old gas power tools. Not that he used those in this video, generally speaking though..
I have used tin snips for years. The arthritis in my hands are proof. Obviously not many of you have had the opportunity to use a bench mounted shear. The only thing better is a throatless shear. Would this hold up to a production shop? Not likely but there you could afford to buy off the shelf. Cool idea, but the only thing people can comment on is buying tin snips and worrying about where the teeth went. Really folks if those tiny bits get airborne shame on you...either you are mowing your grass too short or you can't use a magnet to clean up your mess. Oh here it comes. The whining little Karen's saying carbide is not magnetic. No it's not but the stuff it's silver soldered to is. Why does everyone have to prove how much they know by nitpicking everything apart. Go back to your football game in the basement. Sheesh. Cool idea. I like it. I might just make one just so I can put the snips makers out of business and sweep my scrap up and sell it as shrapnel. Keep up the cool ideas friend. Cheers Terry

This one is actually a pretty good idea.
Okay, that was cool. I had no idea what you were building at first. Good idea. But don't get your dork caught in that thing :-)
the time, effort(plus tools needed ie: welder) and results just can't compete with a good pair of sheers.
it's a nice past time but nothing more
Good job 🎉
Excelent. Very. Good
Excellent idea.
goldsmith / master jeweler here: first glance said "oh shut up, here we go again"

Will it shear 18 gauge metal? That's a pretty neat shear for a little scrap metal and a little welding.
Very simple and effective, so many views not enough likes, good job
Thanks 🙏

Excelente gracias por compartir tu idea saludos
That was a great idea.
Ok, I give up, that was clever.
Old saw blades are very high quality steel, and can be used for many things requiring this type of steel.
Felicitaciones...
Thank you 😊

He better not walk barefoot on his lawn with all those offcuts of metal everywhere. I hope he doesn't have pets.
I'd put it on my circular saw and use it.
Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻
Nice
Secondo me è ottima anche per il pavimento laminato
I'll be blowed!😄👍I did not know that those blades were tough enough for that.

Nice choppe
Lo que cortas es chapa de aluminio o hierro. Buena banda idea.
That's cool but probably easier just to go buy a sheet metal shear
My first thought was sharpen old saw blade and play catch with your kids or friends ! from Stubby
Franchement bien ! Mais je suis déçue ! Je croyais qu' il allait faire un petit hérisson ^^
