I crush the seeds along my walk. People in the neighborhood must think I’m weird walking down the street with a chocolate flower up my nose
No worries Kevin. I love that you’re promoting BI. BI was one of my favorite seed companies even before you bought the company. I’m glad you get to use your platform to boost the company. Great germination and some of the best info on any seed packet ever. It was always my go to when purchasing seeds at most stores. They always had great organic options which is why I was always attracted to BI.
I grew High Scent Sweet pea last year. Despite me being unable to smell or taste due to that virus that was going round, I could smell this sweet pea wafting round the garden. It kept going all through a very hot summer which surprised me. I can't wait to smell it this year, now I have my senses back!
Kevin: if you haven't tried fermented pickles yet, do it this year! The taste is even better than vinegar pickles plus all those probiotics. I use the method shown on the Pro Home Cook channel video called "The Fermentation Equation".
Yes! My favorite summer snack is sliced fermented pickles, fresh picked sweet peppers sliced and then put some soy sauce and mild chille poweder over it. Sounds odd, tastes great! Way to salty with vinegar pickles though.
Now I want to buy even more seeds! There's so much out there that I want to try, but I should probably take it slow (only not really because I'm too excited) for my first season. I love that you included flowers on this list too, I definitely need to pick up some nasturtiums to put around the veggie patch.
I grew it last year for the first time because I was watching Garden Answer and she said you can direct sow it ,I did it bloom all summer and the leaves were beautiful variegated ❤
Chocolate flower has naturalized in my yard and I love the tootsie roll smell they have. They are about 12” tall and 18” wide with 1” abundant flowers they smell only in the morning before the heat makes them disappear.
I grew the patio choice yellow tomato, and that was a strong plant. Very prolific, no pests/diseases, and handled heat and humidity well.. Highly recommend.
The cardinal basil is indeed lovely. I grew it two years ago and it flourished- once the flowers opened, they lasted ages. Weeks! They were gorgeous and added color and interest in the garden (beds and bags) well into late fall.

Yes!! The borers will take out lots of Vining plants including watermelons, that's great advice. If you're growing Vining veggies like squash, melons and even some cucumbers have BT on hand and use it frequently! I learned of borers a few seasons back and lost every single squash I had planted 😢 Those moths are a kill on sight in my garden 🤣
A simple organic fix for cut worms... put a stick any broken stick from a tree or bush will work and place it right up next to your seedlings tie it loosely if need be. The goal is to use a stick that the cut worm can't wrap itself around, last year I had a heck of a time getting my greenbean seedlings to survive due to cut worms until I learned the stick trick 👍 Best of Luck, Com.

Anise Hyssop is one of my favourites. It has a lot of health benefits! (See medical studies at Pubmed) You can also dry the leaves for tea, or eat them fresh.

Unfortunately this year I am working 300 kms away from my house and garden and won't have much time , so I was thinking of growing quinoa.

I just hit up Botanical Interests for their cilantro microgreens (and a couple other items 😀). I grow a lot of basil successfully, dry it for cooking and, of course, pesto. But fully grown cilantro is one of my nemesis herbs in the garden. The microgreen may solve that for me. Tomato rootstock - this is so intriguing. Good call on showing the packets. I've grown them from years (and watched you for years) and never knew the name of the company. Hyssop and other flowers. They surprisingly did well in a confined space. They are stunted in size in smaller pots, but still beautiful.
Hey @Blossomandbranch - my local native plant group (Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library) would love to know how to make that anise hyssop simple syrup. Can you give me an idea of the ratio of leaves:water:sugar I should try out? Thanks!
A little late to the party here but I love that you are producing videos with the Botanical Interests seeds. A local nursery here sells them and I like watching your guides on how to grow the seeds that you yourself are selling! Its so cool to see what the plant will become.
I watched some videos last season about tomato grafting and it was so intriguing. I'd love to try it. I winter sowed some Anise Hyssop last season and it did amazingly well. The plants grew so quickly and looked like an established perennial in just a couple months
I would like a discussion on all the veggies/fruits/herbs we can grow on a patio in full sun/part sun in containers of various depths/widths. We are banned from growing in the ground, zone 8b, due to mean landlords…meanwhile the price of food is going astronomical. In order to survive, we need to learn what we can grow.
Unfortunately my neighbor has a rat problem so I'm unable to grow my veggie garden. I've decided to do herbs and flowers instead so the inclusion of flowers in this video was awesome. 🥰
When I was in the Philippines, it was a breakfast tradition in our family to have a sauteed bitter melon. My mother cooks it so well that you won't taste the bitterness in it. And I came to like it growing up. In other instances, she pickles the bitter melon with unripe papaya and carrots. 😊
I love bitter melon! I make it in tea. It grows very well in my zone in the fall, so normally that's when I grow it. I'm going to try growing it in the spring this year. Love the flower content! I grow coreopsis, echinacea, and anise hyssop.
A quick way to check the spiciness of a Hot Pepper, the more wrinkly (not curvy) the pepper, the hotter it is. It will also have less seeds and larger pith.
de purple cauliflower, blue lake 274 green beans, blue coco beans, red asparagus beans, mary washington asparagus, danver carrots, marketmoore cukes, armenian serpent cuke, Maybe pumpkins, maybe corn. And whatever seeds survived in the ground over winter (blue potatoes, mix of tomatoes).
I have started my first seeds this year. No garden, no balcony, but loads of hope and herbs 😅😂. Up until now all that i started already germinated! Wish me luck please, I'll need it 🙈

Good call on showing the packets. I've grown them from years (and watched you for years) and never knew the name of the company. Hyssop and other flowers. They surprisingly did well in a confined space. They are stunted in size in smaller pots, but still beautiful.
Definitely keeping a lot of these in mind for next year. Thank you!
Glad I saw this! I’m going to have to add some more seed packets to my cart.
I love learning more about edible flowers alongside veggies.
Hey @Blossomandbranch - my local native plant group (Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library) would love to know how to make that anise hyssop simple syrup. Can you give me an idea of the ratio of leaves:water:sugar I should try out? Thanks!
1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, bring to a simmer, turn off heat and put 1/2 cup packed washed anise leaves in-let cool, strain and store in fridge! ❤
I liked Briana's edible ornamental picks. My yarrow from seed is finally looking healthy after a year of life support.
I’m growing a bunch of these this year, including Patio Choice yellow and red. The yellow is an AAS winner so should be delicious!
Ooh is it the torch variety?
@@Blossomandbranch Torch variety?
@@gulfcoastgardener we have an AAS winner that’s orange called torch, was just wondering if it’s the same one :)
@@Blossomandbranch Ah! I bought my seed from Totally Tomatoes - no mention of Torch. If I need more I’ll get them Kevin and Botanical Interests!
Hello luv! Thank you for everything 😊❤️
I can hardly wait to get my catalog! So excited! 💜🌞💜
Mazurka zinnia is gorgeous--it's also one that develops seeds prolifically.
I bought those microgreens & looking forward to trying them out
A quick way to check the spiciness of a Hot Pepper, the more wrinkly (not curvy) the pepper, the hotter it is. It will also have less seeds and larger pith.
Really excited to try a lot of these, especially the patio tomato and colorful quinoa
Chocolate flowers smell like a good grade of cocoa. It is drought friendly. Scatter the seeds on the top of a soil - they need sun to start growing.
How fun! I'm doubly excited because I'm actually growing a few of those plants this year too! It'll be fun to see how they grow for you😁
I wasn't planning to order anymore seeds this year but you got me with that basil variety.
Fantastic Vid! I'll be trying everything that Briana recommended. It's hard to find a good CO resource
If you can garden here, you can garden anywhere! 😂❤
I just got my catalog, so stoked!
I am also excited about seeing anise hyssop (and hyssopus officinalis) growing this year.
de purple cauliflower, blue lake 274 green beans, blue coco beans, red asparagus beans, mary washington asparagus, danver carrots, marketmoore cukes, armenian serpent cuke, Maybe pumpkins, maybe corn.
And whatever seeds survived in the ground over winter (blue potatoes, mix of tomatoes).
I went nuts and brought a lot of seeds. Can’t wait to start
Great selection! Am ordering now!
I have started my first seeds this year. No garden, no balcony, but loads of hope and herbs 😅😂. Up until now all that i started already germinated! Wish me luck please, I'll need it 🙈
Loved this! Thank you
I knew I was getting filipino vibes from you 🇵🇭. Learning alot as a beginner farmer/gardener from your videos, keep up the amazing content and good luck with your season!
Pasta substitute & zinnias - perfect
I was wondering if the rainbow Quinoa could be added to chicken scratch ???
