India did not conquer Nepal because Nepal successfully resisted multiple invasions and preserved its sovereignty throughout history. Nepal is often highlighted as a country that was never enslaved.
Here are some other reasons why India did not conquer Nepal:
Cultural and historical ties: India and Nepal have similar historical roots and cultural camaraderie.
Civilian ties: Citizens of both countries can freely work and reside on either side of the border.
Military ties: Nepal's army chief is an honorary general of the Indian Army and vice versa. Thousands of Nepal's Gurkha soldiers are serving in the Indian Army.

Bhutan claims to have never been conquered or colonized by European or Asian powers because of its geography, geology, and lack of resources:
    Geography
Bhutan is a landlocked country in the eastern Himalayas, with no major trading routes or mountain passes.
    Resources
Bhutan lacks mineral or other resources that would attract would-be colonizers.
However, the British did invade Bhutan in 1773 and 1834-1835, and Bhutan did sign a peace treaty with the British East India Company in 1774. The treaty required Bhutan to:
    Return to its pre-1730 boundaries
Pay Britain a symbolic tribute of five horses per year
Allow the British to harvest timber in Bhutan
When British rule over India ended in 1947, India became Bhutan's de facto protector. In 1949, Bhutan and India signed a treaty that recognized Bhutan's independence and transferred a strip of land in Assam to Bhutan. India also agreed to pay Bhutan an annual subsidy and refrain from interfering in its internal administration.

The British did not colonize Nepal for a number of reasons, including:
    The Anglo-Gorkha War
The British and the Gorkhali Army of Nepal fought a decisive battle in the Anglo-Gorkha War of 1814-16.
    Fear of antagonizing China
Nepal was a vassal of China in theory, and the British feared antagonizing China by dismembering Nepal.
Nepal's role as a buffer state
The British used Nepal as a buffer state between British India and Chinese-occupied Tibet.
    Responsibility
Colonization would have required the British to take responsibility for Nepal's resources.
    Nepali pride
The British tactfully addressed Nepali pride and sensitivity about its sovereignty.
Nepal remained largely independent of British control, though it remained within British India's political framework. Nepal's external relations were adjusted to meet the requirements of British policy.

China did not conquer Bhutan for a number of reasons, including:
    Geography
It's difficult to conquer a mountain state, and Bhutan is located in the Himalayas between China and India.
    History
Bhutan was never under Chinese suzerainty, but was under British suzerainty after the Treaty of Punakha in 1910.
    Benefits
Conquering Bhutan wouldn't provide much benefit.
    Fear of war
The British were concerned that expanding their influence to Tibet would lead to war.
Other factors that have influenced Bhutan's relationship with China include:
    Border dispute
The People's Republic of China (PRC) maintains a territorial claim to Bhutan's border with Tibet, which has never been officially demarcated.
    Settlements
The PRC has established settlements in disputed Bhutanese territory, such as the Gyalaphug village.
    Doklam plateau
The Doklam plateau is a disputed area between China and Bhutan that's a pressure point for both regional powers.
    Royal Bhutan Army
The Royal Bhutan Army lacks the capability to retaliate against the PLA or Border Defence Force.
    India
Bhutan seeks balance with its larger neighbors China and India in order to avoid dependency on either country. However, India has communicated to the government that China is approaching a red line.

China did not conquer Nepal for a number of reasons, including:
    Difficulty conquering a mountain state
It's difficult to conquer a mountain state.
    Nepal's close relations with Tibet
Nepal had close relations with Tibet, and conquering it wouldn't provide much benefit.
    Nepal's non-alignment strategies
Nepal's monarchy maintained non-alignment strategies, which made China less interested in territorial acquisitions.
    China's focus on Tibet
China's main policy toward Nepal from 1950 to 1990 was to focus on Tibet's security.
China's failure to help Nepal during conflicts
China failed to help Nepal during the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1814-16 and the Nepalese-Tibetan War of 1855-56.
Nepal's end of submission to China
Nepal paid its last tribute to China in 1865 and ended its submission to China.
Nepal's invasion of Tibet in 1855
Nepal's invasion of Tibet in 1855, which took advantage of the Taiping uprising in China, gained Nepal many privileges in Tibet.
However, China's approach has evolved, and its ambitions have grown. China's new objective might be to establish strategic control in Nepal.
