This gives me a new respect for my beads. Next time I spill them I will pick every one up and not suck them up in the cleaner! So much work to make them.
someone please explain how the hole is put in such a tiny bead! the explanation below "its runs through a tine hole at the beginning which creates the hole." doesnt help much. I have seed beads that are so tiny , just baffles me!
Have you seen how macaroni is formed? The extruder looks like that, and then the glass behaves like the molten sugar in a Lofty Pursuits video, getting thinner/tinier as it is pulled. The hole is like the picture of the candy. Hope that helps.
Thank you and that is very nice. For buying our beads it depends on which ones you want to buy and how many. We are the oldest beads and beading supplies wholesaler in the Netherlands so in order to serve you we need an official company registration number in combination with a valid tax number.
Thank you for your message. At the moment they pull the melted glass out of the oven, its runs through a tine hole at the beginning which creates the hole.
This video is only meant to give you an impression and vibe of how these glass beads are handled during the manufacturing process. These Glass beads vary from pressed beads to seed beads and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Each bead has its own manufacturing process.

Think of tiny donut shaped hole. Now the molten glass goes thru it and the guy grabs the end and pulls it long

I am working with beads. Just was curious to know how people produce these amazing materials!
For seed beads, I assume the hole is within the rod before the glass is cut? If so, how is the hole put in such a long thin rod?

Good question. We think it is in the 400 years of experience of how these craftsmen and craftswomen know how to work it.
you skipped the part where they actually make the beads. the video jumps from "long tubes" to "now they sort the beads"

I think it’s top secret. I can’t find anything on seed bead making 😅
