I think the treatment on the drums could have been better. Also note this record will probably use a different AA suite for its final mix. Gold excels at rough and tumble music like rock and boom bap.
You are absolutely right. I make boom bap. Gold gives the weight and the tone especialy on the drums and low end. It does cut some transients but I can make that up afterwards with some transient shaper but that massivenes and warmth that it gives to everything is amazing. Realy good plugin. Imo
I think Gold 5 is one of the best sounding plugins I own and I own a lot of them. Even most of my newer ones can't touch the dimensional sound in this thing.

I own and love Gold 5, I'm currently trialling Salt, and A/Bing between Salt's Gold and Gold 5.....Gold 5 has more character/colour/mojo to my ears.

Great demonstration of what its capable of, even lowering the volume of the AFTER so it sounds quieter than the BEFORE example, it still sounds way way better. That is a true testament to how good it sounds. I got it on sale few months back and I adore its character and colour.

I think an interesting comparison would be to hear you do a seperate mix with pro-Q and stock saturators then A/B. Because this is basically showing mixed vs unmixed.

The flute before and after makes a difference, but I use another strip to get my stuff to go from "tinny" (not tiny) to analog-sounding. It still needs saturation postprocessing after Gold 5 on the chain or DAW workflow.

That's really peaked my interest. Only issue with that after mix is all that nice low end in the horn that comes in was completely gone

Great video. The preamp sections confuses me. If most of the line/mic/bus are mono why do I keep reading about people using this on various stereo buses for summing? Great video
in these instances its dual mono. so the same preamp on both channels of the stereo signal

How the hell are you running so many acustica plugins while maintaining decent cpu usage? My computer can handle a max of 10 acustica plugins before going crazy. Is it the daw youre using maybe?

really good processing from the mixng point but it's not about gold actually. And yes the gold is really good tool.

It's 100% both. Of course you need to have a good ear and be a good mixer, but Gold does stuff nothing else does, period. Believe me I've tried to recreate what Gold does in ProQ3 etc, its a very different sound.
Hey I love your channel ,I purchased salt and pumpkin pro because of your channel and I love it I was wonder what hardware do you used for tracking I have the tlm 103 going into neve 1073 going in to Lindell 1176ln going into the warm audio ,I wanted to upgrade my sound I was think of getting the u87 but then I was thinking getting the universal audio 1176 and replace the Lindell what do you recommend I get to upgrade my vocal sound
You are way ahead of me on gear, I'm tlm103 into an Audient id14. That's it!
I do have a GAP Pre73 that's not functional at the moment and a dbx compressor/expander, but neither have been used over a year.
No bump that: get a Zen Go or a Zen Q ASIO Audio Interface. The best under half a stack in the game!!

For funk, the Session Brass from Native Instruments is a strong contender. Here I'm using the Spitfire Symphony Orchestra Pro.
Gold 5 is nice especially the EQ. Did they do a recent update? Then I gotta go to acquarius and update it then
Agreed on the EQ. No new update. It was release back in May and I'm just now trying it out.

12:30 more like7:30 if you think "AFTER" mix is done! It needs Jack O'Lantern Producers Representin' Opulence, Just Africans Mastering, and then Africans Stay Hype plugins from Acustica Audio to make this tune sound even colder.
What DAW are you using ?
For serious mixing, it will almost always be Reaper.
