So glad I was a teenage boy growing up in the 70s! The music, undeniably was/is the best. Too hard to grow up in this generation, I wouldn’t want to. The talent 40 years ago was real and raw. Kids, when your parents talk about music they listened to in their day, don’t laugh like I did, now I know what they were talking about. It will come full circle for most of us
'Dancing Queen' by Abba. Released Dec. 1976. Hit No. 1 and on the US charts for 22 weeks. A '70s discotheque staple! I loved this record back in '77-78 (...still do).
One of the most unmistakably Iconic songs ever made. Those first few piano chords hit and you KNOW what it is ... and you can't stop listening. Here we sit, 43 years and two generations after it's release and the song is as pure and "new" as it ever was.
Yes , who can forget abba! Hahaa international sound recognized all over the world good review jbl! Waterloo was their first American number one hit. It also got us off our butts and onto the dance floor!
Thank you for appreciating ABBA. I saw them in Melbourne Australia, when I was 13 years old. I also came within a few metres of them at the Town Hall when they waved to thousands of fans. ABBA were on the radio waves and TV every day in Australia, in the late 1970s. I am going to London in October to see the ABBA Voyage concert. I am a 59 year old school principal, and I still love ABBA. How lucky am I... to have lived in their time.
ABBA "Fernando" & "Winner takes All" are my favorites from ABBA! As usual, your reactions are the best --so genuine, pure & honest!! Yes! Everyone needs more ABBA in their lives! They were 2 couples and wrote the catchiest 3 minute pop songs ever created. 'You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen'.................... Oh, man! Heartbreaking. Where did it all go? 'To dance beneath a diamond sky with one hand waving free'.
We only had one or two radio channels back then to listen to music and they played EVERYTHING from Barry Manilow to Zeppelin. It was an abundance of riches.
Yeah, this is an absolute timeless classic and sounds as fresh today as it did waaaaay back in my youth. I gotta give you props man for listening to these classic 70's pop songs. There's something for everyone when listening to an ABBA track. They were giants of pop and disco.
You'r making want to watch the movie "Mamma Mia" again. I believe the soundtrack is mostly if not all ABBA music with a couple of the original band members making contributions. Give it a shot.
I have so enjoyed watching your reactions to ABBA. You couldn't hide the pure joy on your face every time you recognized their sound. Glad you reviewed their songs so close together too. I can't wait to see your review their BRAND new music in 2020! Their first new music in 37 years!!!!

There is something so magical when Frida and Agnetha sing together (often called the 3rd voice). They complement each other perfectly and that sound triggers a brain reaction in me. I've never had this experience with any other 2 voices. They could never know back then the enduring effect they would have on the world.
