I remember pulling up to WAAPA to practice on a late Saturday afternoon when I saw Brett and Eddy outside the main building waiting to get picked up. I did a double take and went up to them in disbelief and asked what they were doing (was a mix of super excited/nervous/shocked). They said they were filming this video and asked what instrument I played (piano - preparing for my LMus this year). They were both super nice/approachable and then got picked up to leave. It was by far one of the coolest experiences to come out of studying for my degree. And as a side note, the practice rooms upstairs are much better🤣
Holy cow, lucky! I wish I lived in one of their local haunts; that would be so cool, to think that you might just see them walking down the street one day.
Imagine minding your business, walking back to practice after drinking some water, and seeing Brett and Eddy touching walls with gloves in a closed practice room. 😅
Missing from Melbourne con: the other building that people actually practice in on the other side of campus, featuring: • extensive graffiti • shit (too resonant) acoustics • carpets that (acourding to rumours) will give you pink eye if you take a cheeky nap • dungeon vibes • almost no soundproofing (feels like you're in the same room as the person nextdoor)
ALSO in one of the old building's ensemble rooms there's a warning not to move the piano because the floor is structurally unstable and might collapse 😂

As someone who’s been to the Queensland Con, there’s an AMAZING practise room I’ve used a few times with TWO grand pianos (a steinway and yamaha), which also means it’s massive. That room would win for sure. Edit: nevermind the Melbourne room is on another level wtf
I do not see any sinister in it. When more than one person using the practice room (chamber music), they need more than one stand. So they go to the next room to fetch one. Then they 'forget' to take it back. Starting a chain reaction, everybody is looking for/stealing stand - in/from any room. Maybe I am old fashioned, but the solution is having either at least two stands in every practice room, or having your own.
This reveals the true dedication of musicians - spending hours in some of those awful rooms. I imagine more of them are like the Perth one than the Melbourne one.
In WAAPA's defence, it is moving location in the next few years, there's no way they're spending any more money than absolutely necessary at the old location 😂
The familiar vibe with just Brett and Eddy chilling and doing (weird) things together (and having technical difficulties lol OG) on their main channel!!! I miss this so much!! Love it!!! And dude, they spare time to practice, to film a video, and at the same time, touring!! And man, I actually imagined myself bumping into Brett and Eddy at my uni's practice room when I practice lol But I know I'm daydreaming since I was far away in the States back then lol
Bro the Melbourne one is like the Musician’s Dream Practice Room. I would practice for hours everyday in an amazing room like that. TwoSet is so right you feel inspired to practice there. It opens your mind to creativity and imagination.
As always, the best parts of this video are YOU GUYS PLAYING together followed by Brett noodling on the pianos. I would love more videos of you guys just straight up playing, or fooling around on your instruments, or practice sessions.
I'm actually pretty surprised you guys weren't overwhelmed by the smell in Sydney - must have got a decent room! Also the fact the aircon was effective is pretty impressive lol
Now I feel so lucky with our practice rooms ^^ We have huge rooms with wooden floor and big windows and nice piano (not the upright ones, but proper) in every room that are very well in tune and we also have a pa, a drumset, bass and guitar amps in every room. (I am a jazz major ^^) Also they are cozy with carpets and sofas and stuff. I would hate to spend my life in a basement cell like some of these rooms.
Speaking of dizziness, I just saw The Beekeeper in the theatre. That has quite a few instances that can cause dizziness. But most importantly, the opening sequence reminded me quite of TwoSet’s Flight of the Bumblebee roasts and their first reaction videos to Davie 504. The score started with ominous strings, and the bee illustration art work was somewhat similar to your video’s style.
All these practice rooms are much nicer than what I had in my uni, granted the uni wasn't conservatory (regular uni, music education major). 😅 The Melbourne room can fit 50 of them 😂😂😂
At my uni for the first two years the music department was being rebuilt so our practice rooms were garden sheds raised on bricks. One small heater per shed which kept the top of your head warm but the rest of you cold ,especially your feet which were like ice. The Melbourne practice rooms are high end luxury in comparison.🎻
I remember the slanted walls in Brisbane Con - particularly in the toilets!!! At the time, I was accompanying a student there - but I had been suffering from VERTIGO. And - the slanting walls went very close to triggering it off again. I discovered that it was possible to achieve some ablution tasks successfully with eyes closed!!!
I've recently picked my clarinet back up after...many years, and this is the first time the 'GO PRACTICE' has made me think, "Oh hey, I need to practice, thanks for reminding me."
At least your practice rooms aren’t on the quiet floor the school library. Those who are practicing and those who are trying to study at my school have an interesting time
i really hope that all of the universities where the practice rooms were not well taken care of look at this and do better for their music students. A lot of what goes into practicing is the environment in which you have to practice and it's doing their students a disservice if they have bare minimum facility places to practice.

Who steals practice stands? At the university in my city, which has a quite good music program, half the stands in teachers' rooms are stolen from practice rooms - this is what happens when the university doesn't buy enough stands to go around!
Never thought I'd see them put on blue gloves. The closest they'll get to a doctor.
two by two
hands of blue..
Their parents were proud for those two minutes...
Oof the burn! XD
Lol

Feels like coming back to your old videos 😌✨
Awesome!
Ikr! I am so happy about that!
I feel the same, very nice to watch
Yeah, I love it!
EXACTLY OMG
To be fair to Perth, The Perth Concert hall has some of the best acoustics in the entire world.
They filmed at WAPPA in ECU, where the entire building, although quite dated, is set to be relocated to the new campus in Perth CBD by 2025.
Man, they complain, but oh boy does the royal conservatory of brussels awaits them

Now make a video about the perfect, dream practice room! What would be needed and how does it have to be built to fit the acoustics?
