You know how everyone says "hey remember to like and subscribe"? Well, this time I did. This is exactly what I was looking for - inspiring space, walking through the practicalities of why things are how they are... also love the creative side of working on drums and making your own furniture and so on. Thanks so much for the tour!
Thanks for checking it out!
practice area, chill space and work space all in one
also the back enterance area that heads directly into your space is really cool!
overall a very nice space you have
That’s cool to know you learned your wood working skills from your dad. Always good to have that time together.
Yes! I very much appreciate the bond it created with us, and it's something we still do fairly often together today. Here's a cool video of a project I did with him last spring if you care to check it out: ruclips.net/video/SWj9VIydQ8A/видео.html
Well that was amazing! Fantastic organization, each room so well thought out. I was looking for ideas for my drum room and feel like I hit the jackpot with your video. Much respect sir!!!!
That’s the goal! Glad to hear it’s helping you out.
Same here 🎉
Mike, thank you so much for welcoming all of us into your wonderful world of drumming. Your organizational skills are to be commended. I really enjoyed a bit of an insight into your dungeon of drumming.
Ha, thanks for the kind words Greg. It's been a long process, and it's always changing and adapting to better suit my growing collection of gear, and a needs as a drummer, but I'm very proud of what it's become.
Mike, my friend David Stevens sent me your link. Wow. How very cool. Thank you for sharing with all of us - and thank you and Adam for all of the hard work that you guys have done to share with us all! Kind Regards, Tom Pollock
Welcome, and thanks for checking it out.
Man, you're living the dream! Sick studio setup. Also, ideas for the bass shell cutoff: You could put a coated head on one side, mount it on a wall, and put some lights in it to have a nice ambient wall light, you could make it into a DW type pancake drum (which you'd actually have to do for the light anyway, so it servers two purposes), or you go crazy and make a massive pancake snare. Just some fun ideas. Definitely looking forward to more of this though. Excellently put together video.
I've considered both those options. I think the wall display would be cool, and I could display a custom head, but as it happens to be my only 22" drum, all my custom heads are 20s or 18s.
I have some ideas though....
Great spot!
Thanks Andrew!
Love your space dude. Very impressive! Gonna share your love with Gretsch drums with my boss. If you saw his Gretsch collection, you’d be drooling! Watch the Stanton Moore vid of us refurbishing his 1St ever endorsement kit. I’m the dude in the red beenie. Gotta look fast cuz I’m only in it for a sec. I love that u dig our shit! Cheers bro🤘
I just watched it last weekend when Stanton released it! If you dig on the channel, you'll find dozens of Gretsch focused videos!
best drum studio ive seen
Thanks, but I’ll argue you need to see more then!
It’s like a drum cave instead of the traditional man cave. Love it! My wife teaches cello so we have to share our music room 😢. We met at UWEC :)
No shame in a shared music space, still lucky to have one!
such a cool space, I wouldn't leave much!
Yeah, I find myself spending plenty of time down there!
You've built yourself a very cool space to jam and teach your students. Nicely done!
Thanks!
Beautiful and complete studio. Congratulations!
Thank you!
Impressive**** Lot of very nice "hacks" for storage etc. Thanks for the tour. Goodluck with your business and perhaps hobby.
Appreciate it!
Sooooo cooooool. Love it, thank you
Appreciate it!
Amazing space. Thanks for giving this tour and for all the fun videos. I'm happy my abandoned drum heads went to the best home they could have went to!
Ha! I still have them, and will use them one day.
Really cool space thank you for sharing!

Awesome studio mike very nice set up
Very lucky to have this space!
Nice studio tour Sounds like you had a good year Not true for the Packers Say goodbye Rodgers I doubt he will back
We’re onto next year. Bring on the Love era!
Awesome finally getting to see the behind the scenes look at all your videos! Keep up the great work man!
Thanks Jarrett! It's a long time coming for this video and series.
Great stuff Mike! Stoked to watch these 😍
Thanks, excited to be featuring you guys soon!
Awesome studio 🎉🎉
Thanks for checking it out!
I admire how organized you are . Great room!
That cut off from the bass drum you could maybe make into a pancake drum. Kind of like the DW ones
Yes, I do love organizing things. It’s a blessing and a curse, but allows me to buy more things with the excuse I’ll find a place for them.
@@malonedrum Love the show. I’d love to see more drum restoration projects.
Btw my fav snare I have is a Gretsch round badge from the early 60s
I’ve had it since I was 12 so for 41 years now.
@@grahamanderson7717 got a few more coming up in the queue soon
Wow! Such a nice space. Was searching for ideas and almost feel like I don't have to go further. So many nice touches. Cheers.
Glad you liked it!
I was waiting for this video. Fantastic. That studio has definitely made your house a "forever home". Very excited to see what you do with those other orphan drums. Oh, and I would gladly take that 70s Ludwig Piccolo snare off your hands if you're ever so inclined. 😉
Yeah, I'm sure it's nice to get a feel for the flow/set up of the space after watching so many videos in different parts as a backdrop.
Thanks!
Dude! Thanks so much!
Keller setup. Should do tube lugs and blond wood hoops with some kind of inlay for that shell
That would be sweet, but I can almost guarantee I'll do something on the more budget route and probably draw off some parts I have on hand.
@@malonedrum which is just as great your projects always kick butt
Thanks for a great tour of your studio. I think you should make tambourine/pandeiro hybrid style drum with the cut off bass drum shell you have.
That’s an interesting one, that’d be a huge tambourine/pandeiro to play!
@@malonedrum you can make it multi purposes for example play it traditionally by hand, sticks, brushes, mallets and possibly with adding mounting options for as a kick drum and or mounted floor tom. Ok I’ll stop now! Ha
Bro the xy set up is what we do in my band for my overheads in our basement studio which were rebuilding as we had someone come in and destroyed some gear but were hopefully gonna have it finished soon
Sorry to hear that man, good luck to you and your bandmates!
@@malonedrum thanks I appreciate that
Mike I'm really enjoying your chanel..I too am a fellow drum nerd.Just an idea that I thought of..Why don't you make a pancake drum from the cut off segment of bass drum you have..They sound awesome with a single double ply head tuned just above wrinkles with a bass drum mic up its A**..Keep up the great work.
It's certainly a thought I'd had! And I have two more cutoffs similar to those now.
Cool as man..Do it..They look better with a bass hoop in my opinion..
You should look up Uli percussion in Racine area. He makes awesome cowbells.
That sounds like something I’d enjoy checking out, thanks for the recommendation .
What throw off do you have on your universal snare? I have one in that exact same size with the rim mounted tango strainer on it but have been looking for a good alternative since that strainer is pretty limited
It had the original Ludwig throw, but I swapped it out with a more modern Ludwig piccolo throw. I had o widen a whole a bit, and I know the will trigger the collectors, but since I really do use it for gigs and recordings, I wanted it to be a little more fluid
what happened to your Tama SLP Spruce kit?
Sold it, got it for a good deal used, and was able to pass it on for about the same. My biggest reason for switching to the Catalina, was I got that in a trade for something else, and it was a lot lighter to haul around.
