Fun fact: That VHS of Hello Dolly that Wall-E had was a Magnetic Video era VHS, and considering that movie takes place about 700 years into the future, that would be a collector's item for sure
MylaMinoki It was the other way around for me. In my sophomore year of high school, I played Barnaby in my school's production of "The Matchmaker," which is the play that "Hello, Dolly!" was based off of. I actually had almost no interest in seeing WALL-E until I found out this was in it.
@Flutistmom I think it works perfectly because it implies the world ended when that music was popular, meaning music never advanced and it’s forever gonna be stuck as it once was.
The inclusion of this song in WALL·E made that movie unforgettable. The movie opens up with some beautiful shots in space with "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" playing in the background, and then we pan down to an almost unrecognizable Earth as the opening verse of the song reaches the climax, and then we pan into it, completely passing all of the sattelites surrounding it. We then find out the horrible, dark truth; the Earth was ruined and there are nothing but remains of human civilization, such as oil factories and even whole cities. The sky is also a gloomy light brown, contrast to the sweet, blue sky we are used to. The song continues to play in the background to give the idea of a happy-go-lucky feeling and presentation, but then, the song fades out, and the real tone of the film presents itself. And then later, the gentle guitar picking sets the true stage of the film. What a freaking opening to a Pixar movie!

The brilliant Jerry Herman wrote both music and lyrics to the memorable songs in this musical. He was only 33 years old at the time. The musical originated on Broadway in 1964. Five years later the movie (this soundtrack) came along.
@@manuelorozco7760 Report back, Manuel, after you see Mame. BTW: I recommend you see the Jerry Herman 1993 tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Several segments are on RUclips: 1) Leslie Uggams singing "If He Walked Into my Life" and 2) Michael Feinstein singing "I Won't Send Roses."
Noe Berengena No thank you. If I’m going to see Mame my local theatre has got to have someone big in the title role. I’ve seen Christopher Sieber as Albin and Betty Buckley as Dolly.
@@manuelorozco7760 No, not the Broadway show. I'm referring to something that happened in 1993: the Jerry Herman tribute at the Hollywood Bowl. Besides, Leslie Uggams is hardly small potatoes. You're so young you probably do not know how important she is. And good for you to see Betty Buckley as Dolly.
How you found this song: You see a clip from wall-e You decide to watch wall-e again. You hear this song and INSTANTLY get flushed with memories. You came here
Not really... The energy is there, but the music era is SO off. The audio is too clean, instruments too well recorded, and personally I don't think it vibes too well with Fallout's overall theme of wandering. But I may be wrong. It'd be cool if they gave the song a grainy filter and put it in anyway.
So without lying, I was looking for this song for 15 years and I never found the song since I didn't have a phone or computer, but now that I have it I can have the pleasure of listening to this song again that filled me with joy during my childhood.
WALL-E will always be my number two favourite movie of all time. Its a movie that no matter how many times I've seen it. Its still amazing every time. Its such a classic.
I’m glad I came across this! I’m in my school’s pit orchestra and we are working on the entire Hello, Dolly! Production. This is pretty much everyone’s favorite movement
Who's listening in New York where every business clothing corporation and brand is taken over by Buy and Large and litter is everywhere during 2815 A.D
You know I actually think it happened near Chicago. Large city near a lake, above ground trains, and on the map at the end showing where they're hyperjumping to, the dot is right near Lake Michigan where Chicago is.
Literally in my car bawling listening to this song. Life’s just empty and sad. The closest I approach to making myself happy is making other people happy
Sometimes it’s hard to believe this is the same man who would be The Phantom less than 20 years later when I hear him in this, and then he’ll hit a breathy or low note and ... yep, there it is.
Today i had a sad day. This song just brings my spirits up. I hope tomorrow is a sunny day so i can go on a long walk and forget about university and life for a while.
Me too! I love musicals and when I heard that this song from Wall-E and it was from a musical I got super happy because I love so many popular new musicals but I want to see more originals like The Phantom of the Opera
I can't listen to this extraordinary song without being reminded of two great artists who help make this sequence in the film so unforgettable: the composer Jerry Herman and the brilliant actor/dancer Danny Lockin who plays Barnaby in the film. Thankfully Herman had a long life and passed away only a few months ago. Lockin died in 1977 in very tragic circumstances but thankfully the horror of that situation in no way diminishes his contributions to this film which for years to come we will be able to enjoy thanks to his great singing, dancing and charm. We miss you and remember you Danny!
Yeah... To me, this is way better than modern music. Listening to raw vocals and actual instruments is just so much better, especially if the quality of the recording is decent like this one.
Jesus Christ - Maybe so, but isn't it great that we have these wonderful recordings to listen to again and again and again. This music is hardly obscure in MY house! lol

The brilliant Jerry Herman wrote both music and lyrics to the memorable songs in this musical. He was only 33 years old at the time. The musical originated on Broadway in 1964. Five years later the movie (this soundtrack) came along.
Noe Berengena I find Dolly better than La Cage Aux Folles. Now I next need to see Mame
Noe Berengena I know about the concert but I’m not interested. And thank you about me seeing Betty Buckley
How you found this song:
You see a clip from wall-e
You decide to watch wall-e again.
You hear this song and INSTANTLY get flushed with memories.
You came here
How I found the song.
In a vhs tape of hello dolly.
I saw a google ad
I never watched Wall E
Just watched it on Disney+ last night after a couple years, can confirm
@@Stickman_Productions you should watch it. It’s the jewel of Pixar movies.
How perfectly gorgeous is Streisand s voice when she sings solo😍
2:00 Best part from Wall-E
Same. Credits go to Wall.E
Lol XD-R
Wall-E has a special place in my heart. It is, and always will be, my favorite movie.
“Put on your Sunday clothes there’s lots of world out there....."
the rouge robots use this as their war cry after they escape.
Repair Ward flashbacks from Wall-e
i really miss these orchestral and grand sounding music in animated films. pop music can work, but these just give such great moods
this song should be in the next fallout trailer when ever the next fallout comes out
Fallout 76 has come out!
@@Wolf62601 too bad that this is the worst Fallout ever xD
Not really... The energy is there, but the music era is SO off. The audio is too clean, instruments too well recorded, and personally I don't think it vibes too well with Fallout's overall theme of wandering. But I may be wrong. It'd be cool if they gave the song a grainy filter and put it in anyway.
If this song was in that game, it would have fucked out the game less than it is now
@@Wolf62601 Too bad it's shit
Just watched Walle for the first time in at least a decade. What a nostalgia trip.
😂
wall-e is one of my favorite movies, im so glad it introduced me to this song
It's a shame that most people probably don't know who Michael Crawford is.
He was the original phantom
@@luisandreman indeed he was. Well, on stage. The original original was Steve Harley.
His voice, or vocal style, certainly matured.
I come back after some years or so, and this STILL hits like it did when i first watched wall-e in 2014. 😢
5%= people who came here for just the song
95%= people who came here from Wall-E
I came here from Wall-E for the song, I love this style of music.
Roxy the starfox I came for the song
@@OneFlewOverTheCuckoo1999 I came from Wall-E
Don’t forget the instrumental version is played on Main St. at Disney
@@mickeysapprentice1564 what!
Man Wall-E was such an amazing movie.
I've never felt such a happy energy from a song, amazing. Loving Wall E too
When I was little the opening of wall-e with this song was one of my favorite parts
Who else is listening to this during COVID-19?
the perfect time for such a post-apocalyptic song, wouldn't you agree?
@@revenant497 It fits perfectly!
I'm als0 listening during co-vid 19
WALL - E brought me here lol. This is perfect for post-apocolyptic situations. When in doubt, this song.
Ned Flanders lmao that’s the thing we have
The juxtaposition of this hopeful happy song about a new world and the camera zooming across this dry dirty trash covered planet... *Chefs kiss*
WALL-E..... I remember having the chills
Wall-E will forever be my favorite Pixar movie
That best movie because there lazy people in space love it too
Hello Dolly will always be a classic especially with this song 😍❤😍
2:01 WALL-E’s favorite part.
"And we won't come home until we kissed a girl!"
how does he kiss EVE?
Homelessness rates hit 100%
Couldn't sing that today without getting sued for rape!
Tegan Bigone You’re creating imaginary scenarios in your head to justify your hate. Please stop.
Well, EVE was a girl in white. And wall-e really didn’t come home before he’d kissed a girl.
I was doing a 60's show before Covert-19 now after I am seeing how I can add this song to it because it fits with the show so well.
I just can't forget this song.
forever gonna remember this song from WALL-E
I’m glad I came across this! I’m in my school’s pit orchestra and we are working on the entire Hello, Dolly! Production. This is pretty much everyone’s favorite movement
Just rewatched WALL-E... my most favourite love-movie.
Who's listening in New York where every business clothing corporation and brand is taken over by Buy and Large and litter is everywhere during 2815 A.D
Hackney Station any reason why you say New York? In wall e it looked like they zoomed in Ohio to me lol
Kimberly Gaynor Mostly because in walles house you could see the hand for the statue of liberty
You know I actually think it happened near Chicago. Large city near a lake, above ground trains, and on the map at the end showing where they're hyperjumping to, the dot is right near Lake Michigan where Chicago is.
It's 2805 AD btw, ten years mistake
me
My childhood. Wall-e was and still is my favorite movie.
I love this song 😢
Literally in my car bawling listening to this song. Life’s just empty and sad. The closest I approach to making myself happy is making other people happy
The harmonies when they sing "No blue Monday in your Sunday" 🤩🤩
its so happy, it makes me happy
Sometimes it’s hard to believe this is the same man who would be The Phantom less than 20 years later when I hear him in this, and then he’ll hit a breathy or low note and ... yep, there it is.
Proof that wall e is a time traveler.
Who really wished wall e was real as a kid
You better believe it
Yes...
Wall-e 🤗🤗🤗
Today i had a sad day. This song just brings my spirits up. I hope tomorrow is a sunny day so i can go on a long walk and forget about university and life for a while.
I want to get into this musical
What a coincidence! I'm actually here because I'm in it. I'm practicing right now.
Me too! I love musicals and when I heard that this song from Wall-E and it was from a musical I got super happy because I love so many popular new musicals but I want to see more originals like The Phantom of the Opera
Haha same!!! Ckanxoansna
I almost did
Hello Dolly is one of the best musicals ever
my top favorite song from the whole musical!!
2019 loop Put On Your Sunday Clothes
Wall-E forever.
I'm listeining for the first time in 2019 since it played in Wall E (2008).
Wall-e a good classic
Each times i watch Wall-E, i cant stop sing this, and this song makes me happy, one of the only and probably the only thing that makes me happy
Saw WALL-E. Was not disappointed
we love walle
Ah Wall-E one of best children's movies
You can't change my mind
Wall-E just crossed my mind and I just wanted to listen this music and oh boy the nostalgia...
He really didn't come home until he kissed a girl.
I am so glad Wall-e introduced Hello, Dolly! To so many people
Me too. I was 15 when Wall E came out but I didn't see Hello Dolly until five years later. I'm 26 now
This tune is a real finger-snapper
Rather sad, that this genre of music has faded into obscurity. Edit: Thanks for the likes guys! I never thought I'd get this many!
Yeah... To me, this is way better than modern music. Listening to raw vocals and actual instruments is just so much better, especially if the quality of the recording is decent like this one.
Music has went beyond off the rail sure, but we have memes.
Honestly, it is. Hopefully someone will have revived it by the time I'm old.
Jesus Christ - Maybe so, but isn't it great that we have these wonderful recordings to listen to again and again and again. This music is hardly obscure in MY house! lol
everything will fade away eventually dude its just a cycle
I love this song beyond words
