The most fascinating part of your review was the spot on analysis of the progression of the horror fan. I went through the same phase where I just wanted to find the sickest, most fucked up shit I could find because they were supposedly "infamous." Nowadays that's not really my bag, it might be because being on the other side of 30 it just doesn't connect anymore.
Definitely
We’ve all been waiting on this one
Jason, thanks so much for remembering to review this. You are the perfect reviewer to tackle something like this.
I really enjoyed your opinion on this. Keep up the great work, you are the best at what you do.
Royce Bunn no man, thank you! I’m glad you dug it.
I dig the way you tackle a review like this, you talk about your experiences, you tell stories and make it relatable for us fans. Just well done, hope lifes treating you well Jason👌🏼
MuzzyFilms™ thanks man ❤️
Fantastic Movie. Its my favorite "disturbing" movie together with inside and Martyrs
When you mention Megan Is Missing, it reminds me of The Poughkeepsie Tapes, which has this devastating feeling after you finish it. its really heavy
Daniel Wells the “doll” under the bed... so unsettling.
It's an incredibly well put-together film with its lore and storytelling. I think that's where the shock of what imagery it shows you comes from. I've personally never watched a Serbian Film. I'm definitely one of the "I don't need to see this" camp but I think your review was really interesting
Hate Crime is a similar film to Megan is Missing
You’re so right about NBP. It’s like the meat hook scene in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You don’t see the hook go in, your mind completes the act. Same thing.
Great discussion!
Too scared to watch it. I had a hard time getting through The Trails of Gabriel Hernandez on Netflix recently. Great video again
Don’t even try then lol
One of my favorites......such an insane flick. I can't wait to see Unearthed Films Ultimate edition.
I’ve been waiting on this 👌🏻👌🏻
Love your passion in these vids!!
I really liked this movie. I mean I don’t watch it often, I actually only seen it twice, but it definitely succeeds in what it’s trying to do. It’s sick, it’s disturbing, it’s got a lot of pitch black humor too! And like you said its really well made. Also this Review was super fun! Loved the stories you shared, I think this was one of your most entertaining reviews imo.
der todesking it is funny at times
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 The funniest part to me is when Milos asked Layla if he has to make love to a donkey to make money.
Just came across your channel looking for reviews on this one with the new release coming soon for it. Never seen it for the obvious reason. New sub by the way , great stuff man. 🤘🤘🤘
I appreciate the safety net of your channel. Hearing a review is one thing, but it's not a film I'd want to watch.
Kristina Arntz I don’t blame you haha
Cool commentary. I liked the movie. It was definitely disturbing, even more than I thought it would be (and I was properly warned).
As a musician, it’s actually a pretty relatable story. There have been times where I find myself at a gig, where I don’t know what’s going on, and things get weird. A Serbian Film takes this concept- and takes it to an insanely taboo level.
"There have been times where I find myself at a gig, where I don’t know what’s going on, and things get weird. " Watch "Eyes Wide Shut", it is this same concept you are talking about.
@@snakesghost7817 good point! I loooove Eyes Wide Shut! And I completely 110% relate to the pianist in that movie. I don’t know how I neglected to think of this in my original comment. 🤦🏻♂️
Honoring you for this review lol. I just saw this movie for my 31 Days of Horror
Yeah I saw a serbian film a while back for the first time, it took me this long to watch it as I live in Australia and it is pretty much banned but I turned out to really like it. Like I thought I won't be able to sit through it without vomiting or just leaving, but that didn't happen because I liked it. Damn it was a mad experience. So it is good to know that I am not the only one who enjoyed it.
There’s always one movie that breaks you, and for me, it was Irreversible. That 8-minute straight anal rape scene was just too real for me to handle, and after that I sort of tapped out with extreme horror. I’ll still push the limits here and there, but I’m skipping Serbian.
Still didn't found a movie that's breaking me and I saw very many "crazy" movies. But maybe in the future...
Bout time!!! This should be a good one....
Definitely in my top 15 horror films of all time definitely Serbian Film and Human centipede 2 i remember renting both films same night man definitely stuck with me both films but i love extreme shock horror films my Second favorite subgenre so its right my alley im a huge fan a Serbian Film and Human centipede 2 great review
a. lathan what a double feature... that would end pretty much any date night haha
One of my favorites!!! 🖤
If blockbuster was still around my dad probably would have rented this movie he always brought home the weirdest fucking movies lol.
Great review, and amusing anecdotes too - love that aspect of your channel.
This one's not for me - I went through that whole 'how far can you go' thing years ago with Guinea Pig 1 and 2, Salo, All Night Long 2 et al, the usual ones. I don't think I could handle something like this these days, or particularly want to. Good seeing your take on it though.
Ness Nayii Bruh, you saw Salo but can’t bring yourself to watch A Serbian Film? 😑
@@AnubisX3 Years ago mate - I've had a lot of life experience since then, my frame of mind is different, I've had kids in between, that kind of thing. Trying to find the most horrible stuff ever put on celluloid is no longer a priority for me, or even a desire. I don't find it rewarding in whatever way I used to back then, and in fact find such stuff depressing now. Hope that explains it :-)
Ness Nayii Understandable, I probably wouldn’t have been able to watch it if I had kids too. I’ve been in this “dark phase” for a while now. I won’t be able to stop until I finish watching the films in my list. 😈😅
@@AnubisX3 Haha - good luck in your quest my friend! Hope you emerge successful - and still sane, lol!
AGP : Sacrifice, baby ;) Sacrifice has a story line - and it's beautiful and intense and deep and leaves you to think and to appreciate your sanity and your happy life.
20:00, "That was still 20 minutes." Perfect timing.
I had thought about this, and I never thought you would actually review this film, it is sick as fuck, but then hey....why are we all here? We like watching people get their heads cut off by Jason because well, we're fucked up. But this film just takes it to another level, I hope you are proud of yourself for endorsing this well-made film! Kidding! Wait, maybe kidding isn't the best term..Kid Ing....lol you get me.
I’ve been waiting for this one! I’m sure all of us were 😅
I had the same reaction to Megan is Missing. The final 20 minutes sent me into a dark, dark place. Devastating fucking movie, man. And I’ve been on an extreme cinema kick for a while, Vomit Gore, Aug Underground, all of it. A Serbian Film is the LEAST disturbing to me, but I do like the movie. I think stuff like the August Underground are commendable for the special effects and acting by the victims, which are really impressive in the 3rd. Say what you will about the quality of them, but I think they’re good at achieving what they set out to do…to disturb and shock.
Controversy aside I like this movie and would have loved to see more from this director; reguardless of what people think of this movie I don't think they can dent its a very well made movie.
Martyrs (2008) is my vote for the most disturbing film.
I love the soundtrack 🤟🏽
Have you do a review on the Korean action & adventure film "I Saw the Devil?"
I just finally got this movie on blu ray, now for the next challenge, to watch the movie. I'm so scared
Haha
megan is missing is hard to watch - i watched serbian movie 5 times :)
Megan is missing had the exact same effect one me. panic attack, everything. the only film to ever effect me like that. definitely must be a father thing. only film i ever had to put on pause and collect myself before the panic attack wore off and I could hesitantly press play and finish it. You could not pay me to rewatch that film.
I saw the film for the first time around a month ago, I thought it was pretty good!
Yeah you're right about being horror fans and getting to a point where you want to push yourself and watch more "hardcore" films.
Me personally I've seen a lot of dark films like this so far and I'm yet to find anything that disturbed me, where so many people go on about how unbearable they are but nothing has effected me yet, I just find them fascinating. When I finished the film I just thought "that was a cool movie!" and then I just moved on and started working on my passion projects without much thought.
And films like Salo?.. Honestly that film just made me laugh and felt relaxed as I was watching it.
Idk, I'm just very aware that movies are just movies.. 🤷🏻♂️ And therefore I feel like no matter what they do they never shock or offend me.
In the unrated version the NBP is on screen
My teenage self went through the phase of watching the most disgusting movies I could find. It's not my scene anymore, but I will say this one was at least genuinely well made unlike something like August Undergrounds Mordum lol.
Those are GARBAGE
I feel the same way! It’s a decent film but I think people hype it up to much. Like yeah it’s fucked up but like you said, it seemed like it was going to be much worse.
I actually love this movie lol this and martyrs are exploitation movies I love.
How was salo
I have never seen Serbian Film but iam a little curious because of all the hate that I hear about it do you recommend it Jason?
Ehhhhhh, I'm pretty sick of hearing about this flick actually. If I want to see something SICK and OUTRAGEOUS there are other flicks that are as outrageous, earlier, and more entertaining like Caligula, Blood Sucking Freaks, Andy Warhol's Bad, or any early flick by John Waters (like Pink Flamingos or Female Trouble).
how can u watch
Have you seen or reviewed Found. Shocking film that is also very well made
Kevlar 70 I’ve seen it and headless
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 I gave found to my buddy to watch. His wife asked what kind of sick people are you hanging around with 😈
Found is an interesting one as the beginning & all around tone & visual style makes it seem like a Lifetime movie or After School Special. The subject matter actually is somewhat relevant to this discussion of ASF. What do horror movies & the more disturbing acts in "entertainment" do to us as a collective culture and then their potential to effect the more susceptible individuals to act on unhealthy impulses. It's a valid point of discourse and contemplation. Although I've always been on the side of "art is personal or commercial expression and if you really don't care for something you don't have to watch or support it." But I find modern American politics and tribalism, worst of internet culture & people's glib obsession with real world atrocities and news media WAY MORE offensive, detrimental and soulless . . . Yet all this seems so much more socially acceptable and even prominently promoted then horror movies and extreme cinema. I know, that's not an original observation or anything new, but just kinda where things are.
I would only say Pink Flamingos.
MarvelFan 45 Waters is the man
Sinister Cinema Reviews Yeah but that last scene is my limit to disturbing and I love disturbing movies.
Is this film like The Omen
I didnt like Megan is missing. It was boring. But i like your content
You Ever seen cannibal holocaust?
Actually they did show a the baby crying in the original version it wasn't just a guy Humping and only the sound of a crying baby.
I was going to watch this but after hearing you describe it, I want nothing to do with it.
Oh shit!! A serbian film!!
Dude, what’s your name on patreon? I can’t find you....
chris nicolson www.patreon.com/SinisterCinemaReviews/overview
this movie is impossible to find
@Jeff Skum when did you order on amazon?
After watching The Substance at movie theatrers, I won't be able to see a movie like A Serbian film, then I don't feel like watching something like that if you let me be frank.
Then don’t
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 Now I have a reason why I shouldn't watch it haha
I watched Salo, or 120 Days of Sodom and I'm probably gonna watch this, lmao. This is terrible stuff though I agree.
I'm gonna go ahead and address the elephant in the room.
Deep down, many people either have or are susceptible to deviant fantasy and imagery. Not everyone, of course, but A LOT. No one wants to admit it though. I say thank you to makers of shock flicks like A Serbian Film, Salom, Mandingo, and Caligula who gave the darker of us some imagination fodder.
Let's be real- pedophilia, rape, and violence exist. If enough people actually act on these things, how many more think but DON'T act? How did images of the "Catholic school girl" or the "cheerleader" become so popular? Why is the "teen" category on porn sites so popular? Why was the inside cover of Guns n Roses Appetite for Destruction showing the aftermath of a rape so liked? It's in many of us to have deviant thoughts and desires- but that's where it needs to end. At fantasy. Fiction. The moment someone crosses that line and does something mean-spirited and harmful to some one else, arrest them and prosecute to the full extent of the law (unless some family member enacts justice first, of course).
this movie is terrible, but i'll never forget it, and i have to say that it definitely makes you think.
A serbian a film is sick! How can someone get the idea to make this kind of movie?
I wonder how many of the involved in the film who is pedophiles?!
The cast is famous in Serbia.
Too gruesome a movie for me. :/
Most Serbs, like myself, do not like this movie primarily because of its name and possible propaganda against the Serbs as such. The money for the movie, of course, came from abroad, but some of the best actors from my country were included. Аll the movie wanted to do was be disgusting, dirty, gory... and for me, the story was just bad. I watched it once, and that's enough from me :D
Going a bit far calling this good. Shame on the director for making such trash and shame on the actors too. I usually don't care what people like but this is something that shouldn't get recognition or good reviews.
I've seen the film once it's gotta be the worst I've ever seen
