- Holy Week season in the Philippines. I've decided to hike a mountain in the Cordillera Region as a sort of Pilgrim - Mt. Kabunian. This mountain is sacred to the locals, they consider this as the home of their sky god "Kabunyan". It has an elevation of 1789 meters above sea level and is in the Municipality of Bakun, Benguet.
Though not very tall, summiting this mountain still requires good stamina and cardio as the trails are steep and the slopes are narrow. You are also constantly exposed to the heat of the sun as the ascent is mostly grassy hills and rocky trails. The water source is scarce during the summer season. It is still considered a major hike, so be prepared if you are a beginner.
Once you reach the top you will be rewarded with a stunning view of Bakun’s entire Mountain Range and nearby peaks.
