Loved seeing so much Tony Duquette and hearing the history. Hutton really brought the legacy of Tony Duquette to life. Thank you for sharing this talk.
I am glowing with emotion watching this treasure of a man articulating the wonders of what designer Tony Duquette was, and still is, through all of his magical, mystical designs and collections and found wonders, and through him: Hutton Wilkinson himself. Wilkinson's own unique vision and artistry and fantastic knowledge of historical events and art--and language--is thrust forward shoulder to shoulder with Duquette's 'torque on design', as a presence entirely as unique, prolific and wondrous. Thank you, Hutton Wilkinson, for saving all you could of Tony Duquette. His Queen of Angels installation moved me so much, I am relieved to see that even though the whole thing was lost to fire (a moment of silence out of reverence and grief), there is so much of Duquette that you have preserved, so lovingly, and thank you for all that you are and have created, worthy of similar adulation. This video should give at least 3 credits toward university coursework, just watching and listening. What a GIFT!!! Thank you, Hillwood Museum, for making this happen.
I knew Hutton in High school. Incredible guy with a great sense of humor. Extremely smart and popular. I am very happy to see him so successful. And now I know a whole bunch more than I did about design and Tony Duquette.
Absolutely fabulous, wish Mr Hutton Wilkinson would design me a beautiful camera da letto! I really enjoyed listening to this film it has really inspired me to use my imagination, Tony Duquette was way ahead of his time, amazing designer and visionary!
