Mikko you are great educator! Loved the way you played the solo over simple backing track which contrasted how different it sounded. Then you showed some pedal ideas to use over the tune--cool. You broke down AND analyzed the solo phrase by phrase, and explained how learning from people who are at a higher level can help bring up our own. Thank you

I am pretty amazed by the fact that it totally make sense over the backing track too ! I thought they were reharmonizing a lot but I guess they didn't

I’m sure you’ve seen it but the duet with Metheny from the Unity Band album is pretty spectacular...at least it’s on the DVD version. Thank you for this.

Interesting lesson, thanks Mikko. Many fragments of solo are really cool and inspiring....! For example, at 14:52, that phrase over C7alt....I's based on mixing a E diminished triad with an Eb major triad, so the key of that hip sound comes from mixing different triads... Of course these triads are both present into the half-diminished scale of C, but also in the 3th mode of Ab harmonic major (C frigian b4), so the same elements may be thought in terms of different scales/modes, I think...

Also: 1st chorus what C(Great fan of his playing)Chris Potter is playing over the B dim sounds also strongly like a musical quote of "You don't know what love is" I just finished my first chorus, of course, altered some chords on Autumn Leaves also It walks even into the bridge quite parallel, and my 1st bar is your 2nd bar...

Hi Mikko, Thanks again! I am going to play a trick on my piano teacher tomorrow: (I did already change my Joy Spring theme and adapted to Autumn leaves(this is a new teacher who's putting a lot of emphasis on my technique etc, that's why he wanted me to play and adapt his special chord voicings etc, to this tune, and I was also permitted to adopt those to simple tunes like All the things, etc) But he wanted me to play single-line a solo on Autumn Leaves My first chorus I did come up with a solo pretty bases on GMC(Generic Modality Compression) as you did show in lesson 68. The 2nd chorus I did as I said a Joy spring adaptation to autumn leaves changes and for the 3rd chorus I definitely going to try this Chris Potter solo over Autumn Leaves there are also alike changes happening so let's see how it goes...

Hi Mikko, I was wondering maybe you were interested in a Great Dutch Guitar Player, Wim Overgaauw, I played with one of his students Joey Fokking, (he was specialized in George Benson style) I like this solo enormously each time I hear it so much speaking power, dynamically so interesting phrases, Great Timefeel etc great storytelling, Maybe you could once do a video about this style...YOu could hear in his playing also the improvisational aspect, although the disciplne is of course hearable...
