I ALWAYS loved this song. Around 2009, I was in a store and I heard this version come on. I wanted to ask about it, but I figured the people wouldn't know, so I figured with this AWESOME resource called the Internet, I would find it eventually.
One of the very best from back in the days...it could be heard out of Johnies Record Store on 157 st. and Amsterdam Ave. Harlem USA when it came out . I was there and lived it as a kid.
Summer Madness, Hollywood Swingers, Open Sesame . . . DAMN. Now I like Fresh and Joanna and all that but these Boyz were BEASTS in the 70s! Anybody know how their sound changed so dramatically?
Kool And The Gang started out as "The Jazziacs" (which is why you hear so much jazz throughout their early years). But as time's (like all other groups of this era) changed they wanted to get a little more "change" in their pockets. How many of you know Herbie Hancock before Rockit? Or know about Micheal Henderson before you heard "You Are My Starship", George Benson before "Brezzin"? How about George Duke before "Dukey Stick", Donald Byrd, the list is endless! These people wanted to be a part of "capitalism" which means in this empire "they wanted fiat dollars" to say that they are "successful"! You can find all of these jazz musicians early works right here on RUclips.
