It’s been 50 yrs. If you told me it would be 50 yrs, I would have said you’re crazy. Thank you Eric for your depth of feeling. It’s brought solace to me, to many for all these years.
This man is such an incredible poet/songwriter! Thanks for bringing him back into my life. I've been in love with him since forever !!!!! So glad he is still writing and performing, tho I haven't seen him for many years in L.A..Hoping he is well and happy and prospering !
Not only is the melody wonderful and the singing taste is wonderful, but the piano playing technique is also wonderful, and it is a music that really touches my heart.
Been an admirer a long time and I love the way he is singing now. The mature depth and a little grit really works for me. I would love to hear a new album of re-recorded favorites. Great to see and hear him again.
I owe such a deep debt of gratitude to the musicians of our generation who keep performing and recording their unique artistic creative works from a well that deepens and never goes dry. We need you and appreciate all you have given to us over the decades. Each time someone posts the contemporary work of this group of troubadours of my journey, I say thank you by purchasing and downloading one off your recordings 😎❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶
God I love this song! It is one of my lifetime favorites.Eric Andersen is one the greatest! Tom Waits,Richard Thompson,Buddy Mondlock,JD Souther,Steve Forbert,Jonathan Edwards,Peter Case,Leonard Cohen and so many others are such wonderful songwriters that are just under the radar but have the strongest talents. Wonderful post thank you!
i got to see him a few times in the late 60s. one time was at ohio university in athens ohio. i think i also saw him at the philly folk fest. i will have to check my program guides i had press passes several years. thanks to ursinus college newspaper
Going to see him in concert tonight & really looking forward to it. I'd no idea he was still performing until I saw his name on the marquee recently. I've loved him since the 60s/70s, so I'm really looking forward to it, particularly in an intimate venue such as 'the Linda', kinda like seeing him sit down in your living room & sing!
Eliezer Pennywhistler You're right, this isn't the album version. But I was remembering when I heard it originally; I can imagine Joni singing along. Both versions are worth a listen.
Silke Force Evidently, you are unfamiliar with musicians "of that era and that genre" either then or now. You pay for guest musicians ... and that is up to the producer, the budget and the record company. Then and now. Just how much music of "that genre" do you listen to now?

Thompson was greatly influenced by Anderson. Fairport did Close the Door Lightly. Fairport was very much using the material of the early singer/songwriters before they found thier own sound.

Just wonderful..no words to describe this. I am simply tongue tied.
Your first album was pure therapy for me 40 years ago.....so happy to see you still wowing us today. Thank you
One of my favorite songs ...
While a lot of people were going deaf and smashing their guitars, Tom Rush and Eric Andersen were whispering to me. I listened.
エリック、素晴らしい!
まさかピアノも旨かったなんて、知りませんでした!
来日した時、握手して頂き、サインも書いて貰い、オイラの宝物です。
years later and your voice is still great only deeply older and wiser, lovely, thanks.

Great artist love to see him in concert again. I had a chance to work with him in the late 70's
I was just thinking the same thing. Sometimes maturity adds color and depth to an already really good voice. I love this song.
A great performance Eric. Best regards from Einar (you know, Kløfta).

He will be performing at McCabes in
Santa Monica, Calf. later this month. Worth the drive wherever you may be.
Caught Eric & James Taylor on the same night at The Cellar Door in DC, early 70s. Both solo acoustic acts. Just overwhelming.
one of the greats
💓
Pretty sure Joni Mitchell provided background vocals on the album version forty some years ago.
So what? This isn't the album version, is it.
Eliezer Pennywhistler You're right, this isn't the album version.

It always seemed to me that the musicians of that era (and that genre) cooperated more than some of the footlight hounds of today
