    17:48 It has been confirmed that Angel actually has a huge care for beings he sees as "innocent"

      I mean, Nifty is a little gremlin freak who literally relishes on the suffering of smaller creatures than her so "innocent" wouldn't be the first word I would associate her with her. Maybe a better one would be "defenseless"? Because Nifty really had no idea what she was doing or thinking on any consequences, she could have really hurt herself or someone else without any intention.

I think they kind of view her as the weird messed up little sister that they have to protect at times as she legitimately doesn't understand how to protect herself really. She is really out there.

      Niffty isn’t so much ‘innocent’ considering her methods of pest control and kinks, but she’s kind of a hyper fixated mess which leaves her wandering into dangerous situations unaware of her surroundings. Like not noticing they went to the club, gathering up the glass shards cleaning the floor instead of looking out for falling debris.
      She’s kind of scatterbrained, and they take the responsibility of keeping her out of harms way.

    Something that I love is that they very easily could have just made all of Heaven evil, a bunch of self-righteous pricks passing judgement just because. But instead, they establish that the angels we know, Adam and Sera and the rest, aren't even involved in Divine Judgement. They're flying as blind as the demons are, but unlike the demons, they also have to constantly pretend to know what they're doing because Heaven and the souls within still need to be protected (or at least, so they assume). It makes the issue much more nuanced than just "angels bad, demons good".

      @falsnamae3511 I mean sure but that kinda assumes both that there is a readily accessible way for demons to reach heaven when they want, which afaik we have no evidence of, and that the majority of people in hell would abuse such a thing and heaven would gain nothing from it. It’s kinda the same rhetoric of a country saying they need to shut down and heavily police their border because that other country is full of nothing but criminals that want to destroy their way of life, except worse because it’s active genocide.
      Plus the mere existence of Adam, Lute and to a lesser extent the other exorcists prove this isn’t a one way thing. It’s just that all the crazy murderers in hell get to vent their desires by murdering demons.

    Personally the bombshell that most of heaven didn’t know about the exterminations should be a huge concern for them since, as shown by angle dust’s sister the white spider girl from the welcome to heaven song, families can be separated and who knows how many have now permanently lost their relatives but didn’t know

      Permanent separation of families, with no chance of visiting relatives in hell, sounds like a secret that relies on stupidity of others in heaven to keep, rather than physically or digitally concealing a pile of information. That’s why I think to prepare for anyone in heaven asking to see their relatives in hell, or any other questions that would lead to learning about a contradiction, Sera and other angels compel people with words that distract from intelligent thought patterns like self doubt

    You know, going back through the episode... Sera mentions that she wouldn't have agreed to 'your yearly activities'... meaning... it *wasn't* her idea to have Exterminations in the first place. And that fact she's clearly terrified of the demons having an uprising... when so far that we've seen... hasn't been happening (as far as we know at least)? It was just demons being unruly as normal and the Overlords keeping things in working order and trying to minimize the impact of damages and death their numbers are having each Extermination Day. None of them have been looking into war without knowing how to kill an Exorcist . They never knew they could be killed in the first place.
    The only ones hoping to have a war are the Vees but that's mostly it. Perhaps Lilith after having enough of Heaven's bullshit, we don't know. Lucifer for certain wasn't looking to rip Heaven a new one, just protecting the native born demons and his own daughter.
    So where did the idea of Exterminations and stating that Demons were going to uprise come from? Did Adam create the Extermination process, throwing the idea of a demonic uprising at Sera to justify the reason to kill the Sinners out of anger at Lilith and Lucifer? Because he felt scorned at Lilith's rejection to his control and then Lucifer offering the Gift of Free Will to Eve? Lucifer lost the will to dream so Adam sees as a win over him... but Lilith *thrived* in Hell and that probably upset Adam. Here he was getting the easy life and freedom to do as he wishes in Heaven; but she was having a blast in Hell, not at all suffering as Adam hoped.
    So was the Exterminations Adam's way of trying just to taunt or provoke Lilith?
    Who knows, it's all speculation on my part, so I'm very likely wrong lol

    • @theycallmebad
      @theycallmebad 8 месяцев назад +2

      Sounds like a distinct possibility, for sure. It would fit with Adam's personality and misogynistic views. Every Exorcist seems to be a woman too; women that he can boss around.

    • @thatguy6482
      @thatguy6482 8 месяцев назад

      I would agree with this except Adam really just seems too dumb to actually come up with the idea and justify it, not to mention he seems rather obedient to the angels despite his natural rudeness.
      Given that multiple archangels, several of which we haven't seen yet we're shown in Lucifers song I think it's more likely one of the more violence or retribution roled arch-angel's came up with the idea and saw Adam as the perfect motivated useful idiot to carry it out and got him to suggest the idea.

    • @RifterVix
      @RifterVix 8 месяцев назад

      That is true, since there's really no hard evidence to suggest it was Adam. Sera just didn't like their yearly exterminations but had to be done to cull an uprising.
      Though if the Angels in the courtroom were all the Elders with Sera at the top... none of them seemingly knew about it. The only ones that were suppose to know about the extermination process is just Sera, Adam and Lute (as well as the Exorcists) since no one else in Heaven was suppose to know. And they all seemed surprised that this was going on at all, especially during the song, Sera looks back at the other Elders in surprise now that secret was out.
      Then again, perhaps maybe a few of them did know but faked in being surprised but we're not sure.
      So both ideas can be on the table, since its speculation. lol Though I gotta wonder who was it that gave the idea of there going to be a demon uprising to give reason for the Extermination if it's not Adam that suggested it on his own?

  • @GuukanKitsune

    The best detail is that *_Most of Heaven doesn't know about the Exterminations._*
    And that, if Em's reaction to finding out about them is any indication, they would be VERY AGAINST them if they knew. Sera straight up said it had to be kept secret.
    Hell sucking ass on it's own merits is one thing, but their own deliberately going down there specifically to make things WORSE is another? Those in Heaven would absolutely revolt against Sera.
    And the best part is that the only angels totally on board with the Exterminations are Adam and the Exorcists... Sera only allows them to do Exterminations because they have to avoid the rise of the Damned somehow, and she legit doesn't believe there's another way... it makes her feel terrible and the guilt is crushing her but she doesn't see another path to take.
    But Charlie rattled her, and so did Em. They made points she couldn't argue down or refute and hit her RIGHT in the doubt about the Exterminations, and showed her firsthand that Sinners can reform... Angel clearly wasn't Heaven-ready but he alsoclearly and undeniably wasn't as bad as he used to be. He WAS reforming, and steadily. Charlie was right, and Sera couldn't even directly refute her without lying to herself.
    She likely only ruled against Charlie because to do otherwise would be to admit she was wrong, and all the atrocities currently eating her alive from the inside out with guilt would have been PROVEN as unnecessary as she hoped they weren't because she needed to tell herself that to quiet her ever-mounting guilt about it.
    She would have had to face her guilt head-on and at this point that is too much for her.
    But she might have a change of heart, because of Charlie. She might intervene and stop the next Extermination now, once she emotionally sorts herself out, and manages to admit Charlie's way could have merit and maybe the Exterminations aren't needed after all.
    And if she doesn't? EM will. She's not cool with the Exterminations, and as I mentioned most of Heaven probably isn't, too. She isn't gonna keep it quiet. She IS gonna do the right thing.and speak up. Which may force Sera's hand, about both Charlie's plan, and the Exterminations... or else result in Em taking over as High Seraph, and Em CERTAINLY would stop the Exterminations at least.

      Imagine yourself as one of the Souls in heaven, already sad that friends, family, loved ones of any stripe clearly didn't make it, for reasons you cannot fathom. Now imagine learning that not only was said loved on damned to hell, But that they have been erased.
      Given Hell's vast population growth compared to heaven in the story, practically every soul in heaven must have people down in hell they'd want to see again.
      If the populous learns of this, the riots in heaven alone might tear down the regime before a single hellspawn can even begin marching on the pearly gates.

      @CrazyJabberwock Yeah. Sera and Adam's 'solution' was a ticking time bomb set to blast Heaven into an unwinnable civil uprising the moment they implemented it. They might think otherwise but this was always going to explode in their faces... it wasn't an if, it was a WHEN.
      That secret was eventually gonna get out.

    • @GuukanKitsune
      @GuukanKitsune 8 месяцев назад +6

      @CrazyJabberwock Sera and Adam's 'solution' was ALWAYS set to blow up in their faces. It was never a matter of if, but of WHEN.
      You can also tell it was entirely Adam's plan, because only an impulsive dimwitted jerk like him would be unable to see the potential backblow of the plan coming and legit think it was a good idea.
      Sera is the one who insisted on the secrecy because she was the smart one who saw the local danger of the news getting out... she just didn't think there was another way and so went along with it.
      I feel kinda bad for Sera.

    • @GuukanKitsune
      @GuukanKitsune 8 месяцев назад +3

      @falsnamae3511 I doubt that. Sera legit loves her sister, having to cast her down would destroy her totally given the unstable emotional state she already is in trying to swallow the guilt of her complicity in the Exterminations.
      Especially since she knows full well she would be falsely casting her own sister down because while she won't admit it she knows for a fact Charlie and Emm are RIGHT, and her conviction in the Exterminations being necessary at all is not just fraying at the seams but actively unravelling.
      She would be unable to cast Emm down any more than she is able to decide personally who goes up and who goes down.
      If, right now, she has to chose between her sister and something she hates, is no longer totally sure is necessary, and feels so awful about, she is gonna choose her sister.
      The only negative outcome that is reasonably plausible is Adam overthrowing Sera and taking over Heaven when she tries to intervene... an outcome that would only be a temporary state of affairs because he ABSOLUTELY will be destroyed in the fighting of the next Purge due to his inability to not participate in it and the fact that he will NOT stop going after the Hotel until either him or it are destroyed.

      @@falsnamae3511I don't believe Vaggie told Husk she was an Angel. I think she talked about hating herself, maybe mentioned something from her previous life (before she ended up in Heaven & became an exorcist, as all exorcists are descendants of Adam, thus human), or even just more generalized aspects of herself that bother her. I think this secret was far too important to her to risk letting slip (especially to Husk knowing how likely it was to get back to Alastor, who could have potentially used it against her).
      That said, I suspect Alastor _might_ know. In the pilot, when she threatened him with her spear, he gave her this _look._ It may not have meant anything at all, but I do wonder. And she's never once been intimidated by him, which is rare, even among overlords. He also never questioned her willingness to attack/defend the hotel if necessary, even though she shows no visible sign of being a trained fighter. I really love the perspective this episode has on using heaven and Adam as different aspects of Christianity.
    As a Christian myself, a lot of people assume Christian is life has to do toxic Christians, very controlling, very biased, very discriminating. In reality, those are just stand out more. In reality, most Christians are like Emily, kind, caring, and accepting. I love how they show that not all people in heaven are like Adam, as only a few people know about the exterminations and are surprise when they find out.
    The one thing I love though, was just calling out the hypocrisy of toxic Christian. The whole thing about no one really knowing what gets you to heaven, Because no good deeds can make you get to heaven when you’re alive. God loves and cares for everyone so much that he died and he just wants us to do better and improve. Ironically what Charlie is just trying to do. So when a toxic Christian, discriminates, belittles, and sins themselves against other sinners, but says it’s different for them because they are Christians and perfect. They are straight hypocrites.
    “He without sin cast the first stone” we’ve all sinned, and thanks to God we don’t die from it, it’s what we do to improve ourselves and others that makes us good people, and it’s all that God wants. Definitely really love this episode.

      honestly, if they ever get Big G on screen (which i can understand them maybe wanting to avoid due do certain people), I would go with a "Works in Mysterious ways" approach. Maybe, in general, being supportive of Charlie, maybe even having a lot of this intended, but having it play oout on its own, sometimes giving small nudges into the right direction, but leaving people, angels, demons, to try to get their on their own (Free will and all that).
      Heck, maybe part of this could be that the intention was to teach the angels some humility.

    10:06 to kind of add to the messed up situation in this scene. The whole thing that got Vaggie punished was sparing a child. That leaves one of two scenarios, either its a hellborn demon who has done nothing but be in hell, or it's a child that died on earth that, for some reason, was condemned to hell. Which is fucked up in and of itself.

    I really like Cherri here. While it seems like she's just an enabler, trying to pull Angel down, it's important to remember that the last time they met up(that we're aware of), Angel wasn't taking the rehabilitation thing seriously. He was using just looking for a free place to crash.
    Now they meet again, and he goes to the club with her without question. While she does push him to do drugs again, the moment she realises that he is actually serious about rehabilitation, she backs off, tells him she's happy for him, and that if he ever needs her she'll be there.

    Seen a lot of people react to Emily saying "thousands of innocent" and go "I mean they're not exactly innocent" in some form or another, and I'm like. No no, Emily's perspective is probably right...
    In Emily's mind. She just heard everyone in the court, herself included, confused in what makes someone go to heaven or hell, or, stay in either.
    which meant that innocent people could be going to hell. Cause innocence, or being innocent / good etc, might not get someone to go to heaven. It might not even be the same for every soul. They don't know. Not even true angels, "non-human soul" angels, know.
    It is interesting, though... that Adam was the first human soul in heaven....
    There should have been other souls... at least... potentially... before Adam's
    That is if the descendants of Adam are still the same and generally the same story for their human lives...

    A lot of people complain about the pacing in the show, which is totally valid, it does feel like it could use another two-four episodes to flesh out some of the characters and plot points. But at the same time, I feel it gets a lot out of the limited time it has.
    You can tell a lot from Emily and Sera just from their introductions. Emily's super-excited reaction to meeting Lucifers daughter shows shes an exceptionally kind and compassionate person (especially when contrasted with the reaction St Peter, who's otherwise a nice guy himself), and Sera greeting them with motherly warmth, while also saying "YOU are gifted to be here", hints at her nature as someone who's well meaning, but not as innocent as she appears.

  • @-Offstar
    @-Offstar 8 месяцев назад

    Theory time:
    This episode added a nice piece of information in none of them knowing the rules. Once that was added to the picture a lot of stuff starts coming together. Lucifer is a seraphim and so is Sera but Emily is around the same age as Charlie. Sera rules heaven yet in the courtroom her and Emily are the ONLY seraphim there and Sera isn't Emily's mother she's her older sister or simply a mother figure looking after her, so where are the others, where are Emily's parents? Sera say's "But there's a lot that you don't know", Adam has a demonic appearance, and Eve is no where to be seen and hasn't been mentioned other than in episode 1 were she gets a creepy evil smile when handed the apple. Adding all of this together I think what happened is Eve became incredibly evil and as the first sinner incredibly powerful, so powerful the seraphim had to leave heaven to deal with her and left Sera behind to ensure there was still a seraphim in heaven, the rules had been made by the other seraphim but Sera hadn't been told yet. In the process of dealing with Eve all the others died or are stuck somewhere keeping her away. Adam was likely influenced by Eve which caused him to have demonic form and his love of extermination.
    Now consider this where do demon's souls go when they die? If killed by a non-angelic source they reform back in hell but angelic weapons kill them permanently, but again what happens to the souls? Maybe Eve takes them and uses them to grow stronger in order to come back. And after all the years of doing that was strong enough to influence things by the time Alastor died. Remember Alastor when he came to hell had unbelievable power more than any sinner ever had when they manifested, and upon his arrival was stronger than Overlords that had ruled for centuries and owned countless souls; yet Alastor could kill them. And their souls didn't re-manifest in Hell shortly after like normal instead their screams were broadcasted and they never came back. How would Alastor do that? Well if he was sending those souls to somewhere outside of hell they might not be able to reform just like how the exorcist angel didn't reform when she died in hell. And we know from last episode that someone owns Alastor's soul. So what if when Alastor died Eve made a connection with him and offered a deal to give him incredible power and in exchange he would kill the powerful overlords of hell and send their souls to her. And so that's exactly what he did but stopped with Zestial as Alastor wasn't strong enough to beat Zestial. From that point Alastor was waiting until there were Overlords powerful enough to send to Eve. Which is when Alastor fought Vox 7 years ago as Vox was strong enough for Eve, but because of the other Vee's Vox was able to win. Alastor's body was destroyed and instead Eve took him, Lilith possibly became aware of this at some point and interfered when Eve tried to take Alastor.
    They were gone for 7 years in which time Lilith broke Alastor's deal and made a new deal with him to send him back in return he would help and protect Charlie. And she stayed behind to help keep Eve away. So now Alastor is fulfilling his contract but also at least gets some enjoyment out of it as he wants to watch sinners fail. But is still insanely angry at the fact he was owned by Eve and now owned by Lilith which is why he snapped at Husker when he mentioned Alastor also being on a leash.
    Now this is almost definitely wrong but it's got to be something similar. The other seraphim are gone, no one knows the rules, Adam is too demonic and evil for an angel, Eve is not appearing or being mentioned, Sera said there's stuff people don't know, Lilith and Alastor were gone for 7 years, Alastor had power no other sinner had, and his souls is owned by someone. There's something huge going on behind the scenes.

    When Sera stated that Adam was the first human accepted into Heaven, I heard someone mention the Biblical story of Cain & Abel where one brother killed the other. Does that mean that Adam died before the first murder? Or does it imply that the murdered sibling was damned to hell?
    I don't appreciate that they gave Charlie a look when she used profanity in the Heavenly Court considering Adam was been cussing often.
    When this episode ended there were four things that I want to have happened before the eventual series finale:
    1) I would love for a crossover(1 or more episodes) between Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Ideally, I'd love it if no one was re-casted for the crossover special. Also, I don't mean that characters from one series make a brief cameo in the other.
    2) I want all of heaven and hell to learn about the exterminations as well as the fact that neither Adam of Eden nor seemingly the majority of angels knows what it takes for a human to be accepted into heaven rather than being damned to hell.
    3) I want all of the angels, Lucifer, Lilith, Eve, and any other relevant parties to just communicate and clear the air, because it feels like nobody is operating on the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. From the events that took place in the Garden of Eden, what was happening in Heaven prior to the creation of Adam & Lilith, to who came up with & approved of the annual extermination of damned soul as well as why the individuals who signed off on it did so.
    4) I want the series to confirm whether or not God has any relevance. In the story Charlie spoke of in the first episode, the angels were credited with the creation of Earth and the first humans as well as the damnation of Lucifer & Lilith. Not once was God ever mentioned. Does He exist? Is He not getting involved with the work of the angels and trusting them to do their job?

She was pretty frayed last episode and then she comes face to face with the same blindness and hypocrisy that got her dad thrown out of Heaven and the rotten cherry on top is Vaggie lying to her for who knows how long and being, not just an angel, but an Exterminator!
    Honestly, I don't think Charlie would care that Vaggie was an Exterminator if it had been found out at any other point but this Heaven bullshit has crushed her- just like Lucifer. We also haven't seen Cain or Able, Adam's sons, whom one died before Adam. Did Able not go to Heaven upon his murder? Cain lived a full life after his brothers death and had a family of his own. It really does make you wonder what it takes to get into heaven as Vivzi said his sister and mom made it in. 1. whoever killed that one angel that we saw in the first episode, that’s the one that’s uprising! Not everyone demon down in Hell! Just that one.
    2. The only reason they exterminate is because they’re so afraid that Hell will be uprising in the future. So they kill them to make sure that no one else messes with the balance between Heaven and Hell.
    3. And the fact that Sera isn’t even willing to try to give them a chance just because she’s afraid of questioning the authority, what they do, and if their are other ways just to be perfect for those in Heaven, it’s not fair!

    I think in the final fight Emily will go to God and he will be the one to stop Adam and Lute and condemn them to become sinners and have to repent at the hotel to return to heaven. Because in this episode, it is said that no one knows what determines whether a soul goes to heaven or hell, only that it passes a divine judgment which confirms that God is indeed in the series. This would be the best way to introduce it and a perfect punishment for Adam and Luth convinced that redemption is impossible. And also maybe the archangels because I really think they will be because Lucifer has 6 wings like the seraphim but he is clearly not one after seeing Sera and Emily the most logical thing is that he is a archangel and therefore that there would be others like Michael

    I think it makes sense that angel is still in hell. Sinners are in hell because of the decisions' they made in life, not the afterlife. Like sure angel showed qualities that shows he is capable of changing to a better person. But these qualities were never there when he was alive. When he was alive he was a slave to his addictions and considering he comes from a mob family, killed a lot of innocent people. He wouldn't have even consider changing if it wasn't for his situation with Valentino. I like angel's character and feel for his situation, but frankly I think he deserves where he's at. (hell wise, not his terrible situation with Val)
