It's been confirmed by several Navy pilots, that Tom Cruise was in the backseat of the 2-passenger Hornet. They were able to tell right away based on the front view, from where he was sitting, versus the proximity to where the wings began. So to support what most comments were saying, Cruise was never in control of the aircraft.
I was very skeptical of that when they were talking about it. From my small knowledge of Jets, I was like there’s no way in hell the US navy would let Tom Cruise fly one of their Jets. He was just passenger like the blue angels do at their air shows.
Of note, Tom Cruise isn't actually controlling the aircraft in any way in any of those shots. The aircaft used, the F/A-18F, does not have any pilot controls in the rear seat (where the actors are sitting). All flying is being done by the pilots, not the actors, they are simply along for the ride (pretending to fly).

@@tubesvor No, the Navy needs the other one for the aviator flying the aircraft. Tom's in the back, where all these scenes, with all of the actors and actresses, were filmed. It's the F model. His balls have a special support for the Gs that such large balls produce.
He never actually piloted the jet, even though he is a pilot and can easily afford to pay for a hornet if anything went wrong but the navy flat out said no out of principal. All the shots in the film are either on the ground with him not flying or in the backseat of a two seat variant (F model) that does not have any flight controls for up in the air shots. And from a friend who was aboard ship while they were filming said that Tom Cruise was incredibly difficult to work with and most of the crew including the skipper wanted to kick him off but they were ordered straight from the top secnav/CNO to just deal with him since this movie is a big deal for recruitment. The original inspired a whole generation to join up and probably is the most successful recruitment movie ever so if the sequel is half as good, its worth it to put up with Hollywood.

So many stunts in this movie it's mind blowing... Everything is recorded in the first person - the movie is seen entirely from the MC's perspective, like a first person shooter. I imagine that kind of setup adds a new consideration to recording the stunts, without the actor being able to see any of the rigs, etc. Lots of parkour. Lots of gun fights. A car chase. Definitely take a look.
There is a lot of interesting things going on in most movie swordfights with perspective in order to make it look like they are on measure when they really aren't.
7:40 There was a similar rig for Dane DeHaan's "natural selection" monologue in Chronicle when his character crashes a car. That was done in camera as well. You can even see DeHaan flinch a little when the loud crashing sound happens but I suppose they have had only one take with that car.

I never watch them critically, though I just enjoy it for what it is. These videos have really given me an appreciation for all the work and skill that goes into pulling off these effects and stunts and now when I watch these movies I pay more attention to all that. thanks!
Anyone else wish these episodes were longer?!
I wish for some other things to be longer too
7 Samurai. Peasant running away from camera is shot with arrow in his back by a master archer off camera. Real arrow. Wood block under clothing.
they did this a lot in The Adventures of Robin Hood. Every stuntman who took an arrow to the chest got an extra $150 (~$2800 today).
Any horse fall or other action scene from 7 Samurai would do. I'd love to see their reaction to the HORSE RUNNING OVER THE MAN at 2:46:59, (left-hand side of the screen).
Yeah, but that Throne of Blood scene though, that beats it tenfold

As Hardcore Henry seems to be popular, it has an incredible scene where Sharlto Copley dances with multiple versions of himself and it blows my mind every time I watch it 🤯
as a russian im waiting for them to do hardcore henry like a mfucker.
I'll third "Hardcore Henry," for stunts and VFX
@@TiMonsor They could do a whole episode on Hardcore Henry and it still wouldn't be enough :D That movie is criminally underrated and it's a damn shame more people didn't go to see it.
Im also totally on the Hardcore Henry bandwagon. There's a scene where he runs, jumps down some stairs and he pushes a woman over and you see her bounce, I heard that was not planned. Also some other stunts look insane.
Hardcore Henry is so hardcore! This movie is like an racing car without brakes
There are some badass action films in Russia. "Major Grom" - take a look at this Russian short. This fight is just amazing.

Foreign Film with CRAZY stunts: "Chocolate" (2008)
You guys should really react to that one; I remember being shocked to find out how many if the stunts were real (they show some BTS during the credits).
guys, u created a really cool series, but i still feel the eps r too short. u r in and immediately out. maybe try 15-20 mins? i know u r concerned with attention span, but when u have guests its better to use them proper, we want more indepth.
For real did they shorten episodes to 10 mins to please the RUclips algorithm? Because that’s not what content should be built around. Even if they want to have a small number of stunts to react to, having more insights from the stuntman is still content worth watching more of.
I second this!! Doubt we'll see it thanks to the fact one must appease the Algorithm God, but maybe having two parts or something. Anything. Just more... moreeeee!!!!
They definitely should go with the Joe Rogan approach(pre-spotify) more than the youtube algorithm approach. People love these guys and would watch this for hours and all they would have to do is have video clips ready to watch.
They usually do about 15 mins per episode. This one was just one of the shorter episodes.
@@DaFunkologic This was actually already done in several parts. Guests like Eric and Guy do this a lot longer than just a 10 minute break down video analysis. They then break it down in several parts and uploaded it mashed up with another uploads to make it appear as if this was not a continuation. That's why you'd see Eric and Guy wear the same clothes they wore the last time they went on the show.
Tom cruise is sitting in the back seat of an f varient hornet in the WSO seat. There is no stick, so he's not doing any flying - assuming all the actors are doing the same thing in the movie.
I think the point is that it’s not just green-screen in a hydraulic flight simulator.
Although yes it does sound like they're implying it's Tom in control. edit - clarity.
@@noping4100 I do think there are some maneuvers where it's CG (at least partially) because let's face it not even the blue angels would do such maneuvers, and the opening scene of the f-14 is CG as there is no flight worthy f-14 left, at least in the US
So I kinda find the whole publicity thing, "Tom Cruise did it all, it's all real" to be quite misleading for the general public
Can we talk about the entire Taxi chase scene from Action Jackson? It's got everything an 80's action flick needs. Exploding cars, Action stars with super-grip (the premier action hero superpower), impossible jumps. The whole works.

@Corridor Crew Foreign film stunt suggestion: Tazza 2 the car chase scene where they had both cars twirl completely parallel to each other. Loved it when I first saw it in theaters and wondered how they did it. Did they keep both cars connected together as they twirled down the street? Which car was in control? Was there a separate motor? You guys tell me. It’s a great scene!
The scene is super obscure, by the way, and I haven’t been able to find it on RUclips so I highly recommend watching the movie to find the scene. I’m going to do that myself to rewatch it because it’s like a Hollywood-level stunt for a Korean film back then and left me impressed.

Great little fan film
The fighter jet Tom is sitting in when he is launched off the aircraft carrier is variant with two seats
Yeah, he needs the other one for his balls.
@@adamc6371 Right, we are agreeing. Sorry I didn't mention that part, but its a double seater fighter jet the USA uses and hes not flying it. I watched a video of a fighter pilot critiquing the trailer for the new movie.

A suggestion for a great stunt in a foreign film, would be Jackie Chan in "Operation Condor" where he is dodging cars while doing acrobatics on a bar.
No joke, you wanna see an amazing stunt of a person (woman in this case) land on the roof of a car. Go see the 1981 movie made by the guy who wrote Jurassic Park called 'Looker'. Trust me, you see this stunt woman do it for real and in one shot, you will be like "WOW, how is she not paralyzed?" and she was practically naked (In a nightie) so no padding on her body. It's the F/A-18C or D which are Tandem (Pilot and RIO in the back) Similar to the F-14 Tomcats which had both Pilot and RIO ('Maverick' and 'Goose'). I think the whole idea is to make it look like it's a regular F/A-18A or B which is a Single seater. In any case, looks awesome and can't wait!
