  • How do we support our local economies and eat better? By eating local of course!
Trying a ting is us trying something we never done before whilst supporting local Caribbean ingredients and healthier eating for all of us, hosted by Fiona Compton of Know your Caribbean and 'Bad Gyal Sherween'.
The Caribbean food import bill is estimated to be $10 BILLION USD per year, and we import 900,000 tonnes of wheat every year, yet we UNDER produce cassava- the staple what has been part of the Caribbean since the Arawaks, Kalinagos and Tainos inhabited here thousands of years ago.
So here’s how you can enjoy one of the Caribbean’s fav dishes whilst supporting our economy.
Bake.Float.Bokit. What do you call it in your country ?
Swap your wheat flour for cassava and make yourself a tasty something - with some dairy free cocoa tea. (Do you know how good our unrefined local cocoa is for you?!)
Filmed in part at the majestic @lahautstlucia (not sponsored we just love to support local)
Aannnddd I know y’all go ask me about the music ! Y’all know @kesthebandofficial has a live album ? We listened to it the whole drive down singing LOUD and me wining behind the steering wheel. It’s a great download to pretend you in a Soca show.
Know Your Caribbean here to endorse all things 100% local.
