As a Maui resident it is heartbreaking and devastating to see the continuing effects from the fires here. Many families are finding they have to move off island, all these months after. I personally am paying a ridiculous amount in rent for a very small place and I am grateful I was able to find a place at all... As a small business owner, my business continues to struggle... When fires swept through my property in the Aus bushfires the government paid for the land clean up, contracted builders to make portable homes for those who lost their houses (and paid for the transport and installation). They gave us thousands in aid. Donations gave tens of thousands, tools, fencing supplies (for the farm), trucked in water and convoys of animal feed. My heart goes out to Hawaii.

My heart goes out to these people, my brother in law lives there. Hearing this conversation of loss of land, property, culture, being able to provide for family. Then the small bone of $700.00 the three them, even the water rights takes my mind back to what government has done with our own native peoples. What a disgrace.

When fires swept through my property in the Aus bushfires the government paid for the land clean up, contracted builders to make portable homes for those who lost their houses (and paid for the transport and installation). They gave us thousands in aid. Donations gave tens of thousands, tools, fencing supplies (for the farm), trucked in water and convoys of animal feed. My heart goes out to Hawaii.
