Thanks! Just built a Tenor Uke and this was super helpful, as my guitar tuner broke and I didn't wanna drive an hour to the nearest music store.

    1:34 Tenor Low G Tuning

Thank you for making this video, I just got my tenor ukulele today. I didn’t know how it was supposed to sound, and my tuners wouldn’t give me the g on the g string. This at least got me started. Thank you, now I can play songs I think would sound better on my tenor, than my concert or soprano

I found an old letter from Martin & Co. from Feb. 1963. It reads "Here at the factory we tune the Tenor model DGBE, the same as a Baritone uke, except that the D or fourth string is thin nylon tuned an octave higher than the wound fourth string of the Baritone model."

    • @ukesong

Yes, this is the High D tuning. I have a dedicated video for it. ruclips.net/video/zyqhKsdltbE/видео.html Usually this tuning is used for Baritone ukuleles but works well for Tenors too. Thanks for sharing this info !

@@sanddab Yes, The Low G (GCEA) and standard (gCEA) work perfectly for tenors.

I am tuning my tenor uke and I feel like they are almost the same, just slightly off and I can’t get it no matter how much I fool with it🥴 I’m assuming it’s because I’ve never played an instrument before and I don’t have the ear for it, but I’m wanting to play- if it’s out of tune!😭😂

Your strings are probably stretching, which sets them out of tune. They will eventually settle down or you can pre stretch them. Look for a youtube video on changing strings.

Hi, sorry to hear this, did the string break while tuning? Which string was that G or C or E or A?

    soprano no tenor

    • @ukesong
      @ukesong  3 года назад +2

      Hi,
G4-C4-E4-A4 is a soprano/tenor tuning. Typical soprano tunings are
      G4-C4-E4-A4
      or
      G3-C4-E4-A4
      or
      A4-D4-F#4-B4
But you can tune tenor in many ways too and G4-C4-E4-A4 is one of them.
      G3-C4-E4-A4
      or
      G4-C4-E4-A4
      or
      A4-D4-F#4-B4
      or
      D4-G3-B3-E4.
      Hope this helps.
