Using old stock war footage to show what the found item looked like when used back then, makes this channel different and so much more interesting than other metal detecting channels, and that is the main reason why I subbed. Keep up the great work guys.
Thanks for the support!
Same
Ditto
I love how you show the things you find and then video clips of them being used in war! Outstanding.
Hunting those woods must be so Exciting, I wish I was there with you guys.
From your fans in New Jersey USA
Very hunting indeed! Thanks a lot for the support. Cheers!
I agree, Great editing and hunting!
Could you imagine working with these guys to uncover these objects also keep up the amazing work !
Thank you guys! I love this channel! I'm in my late 40's and two of my Grandfathers fought for the U.S. in the Battle of the Bulge/Ardennes Counter Offensive. As a child, I would listen for hours as they brought their stories to life in my mind! Your perspective, respect for all these amazing artifacts and how you weave in the historical film to tell a story is a close second to hearing those first hand accounts. Love it! Well done.
Glad to hear my footage matches the impression from the story of your Grandfathers! Thanks for appreciating!
You look at these forests and they seem so peaceful it’s hard to imagine what a hell scape these places probably were during the war
Nicely said 😁
Fantastic finds! So great to see people of your generation appreciate our history. Keep up the great work!
I love this channel, reminds me of my war day’s comrade.
"Anti-Everything" I loled.
He is quite right though! ^^
Xd
He is right
The Ardennes have been so widely searched by so many folks that I'm quite surprised (and happy at the same time) you found so many such unique artifacts and in really good condition after 70 years. Wonder video Chris and guys, please continue on we love how you find these items and the descriptions you provide. A loyal viewer from Canada...
Thanks Ted. There still are secrets to be revealed as you see! Cheers!
There lies some much there, you could probably find as much now as in 80 years
See u in Leningrad batlefields)
Definitely! Cheers to that.
@@mdww2battlegrounds I see that you like finding silver and remember that every American coin made before 1964 was made in all silver or with silver. Thanks for the great content!
@@mdww2battlegrounds wow I used to do that in Belgium and south Italy on my family farm greetings from the uk 🇬🇧 I subscribe 👍🦊🐾🇮🇹
Did you keep the nebelwerfer rocket, because it is not dangerous anymore and its a really rare thing to find, maybe you should give it to a museum. And what a beautifull place to detect and congrats on the nice finds.
Gr. Jelle
Dutchww2 rellicshunters I don’t think they would have because anything explosive they report to the authorities
@@m1ndfr34k3 The warhead was already destroyed. The warhead is at the rear of the rocket not the front.
Man I'd love to go metal detecting in a WW2 battlefield, all these hidden gems waiting to be found
History can still be found everywhere!
The land litteraly is speaking....
every time i recover an item my brain wonders how long ago, and who lost or discarded the item..the mystery of time..and the love of the hunt..great video..
My father was a US soldier in the 3rd Armored Division and he was in the Battle of the Bulge. He brought back a pair of German binoculars which looked exactly like those you found ! One of my brothers still has them and they still work perfectly , excellent optics.
Thanks for doing what you do guys!!
Also thanks for bring us along with your adventures!
Thanks for watching!!
Metal Detecting WWII Battlegrounds how did you all get into metal detecting? And when did you start recording it and adding to RUclips?
Only two metal detecting channels i watch this one and ww2 history hunter. Two great channel's
You guys are truly my favorite Detectors! You go to places where actual battles took place and find all of the evidence and artifacts lost to history and time. The overlays when you find something to show what it looked like in its original condition and the the editing of your videos is amazing. The knowledge that you have about everything you find is phenomenal! And not to mention the respect you show to places and persons that fought in those places. Especially the episode where you went back after finding those Reverence Coins and put them back after finding out what they were. You earned a lot of respect and admiration from that act. Thank you for all you do. And also, Please be safe when handling the un-exploded ordnance. I cringe when I see that!
12:30 I heard that high quality German optics and watches were very quickly "removed" from their captured owners!
12:32 I have one of those. It was made here in SOUTH AFRICA in 1940
Liam White
You live in South Africa?
@@TheCarDemotic i know, for someone named white who lives in africa.
Hey Liam do you know more wrt the make of the binoculars? Also greetings from South Africa.
Beautiful edit my friend 👌👌
Thanks a lot for watching again!
Your knowledge of artifacts is amazing. Excellent videos!
As a guy who loves metal detecting and WWll this is the perfect channel for me! You just got a sub!
I can't agree with you more! Thanks for subscribing.
Thank you for saving those objects from oblivion. I imagine that the area you were in was probably a battlefield several times throughout history. You find items from WWII and before.
Beautiful video again! The binoculars drove me crazy! Well done! 👍🏻
Greets,
DutchWW2MagnetHunters
German standard issue binoculars! Crazy indeed to find in this condition. Thanks for watching!
Something that YOU do that "not everybody does" is...."comment back" to people who ask questions, who compliment your videos AND the editing!!
Perhaps it is only MY opinion..(but I do not believe it)...but I think that WHAT you and your fellow "hunters" do and HOW you package it to us, your fans, in these videos, is short of amazing!! What we see is what you know we want! No tricks-like so many channels put up, to get people to "bite" on a video with tricky captions, etc. We watch to "be engaged" by you--with you...as you present to us armchair viewers quality pieces...each and every time you make your videos! Keep up the great work, everyone!!
It amazes me of how you know so much about WW2 items. I wish I knew so much like you 👍🏼👌🏼
It's good you're wearing camouflage, wouldn't want to scare the finds away.
Really nice, I would like to team up with you guys at the Eastern Front 🙏
I am dying to also wouldn't it be an incredible experience
9:29 is a axe for cutting the roots of bushes trees and other thinghs ..if cleaned, "polished" and sharpen+ given a handle well then you, have a somewhat expensive and usefull treasure hunting tool especially in a Forrest..i got one my self, nice find
It is just a reminder of a historic event that you thought you only could see on film, but to see and touch the real evidence where it was dropped and not touched for 78 years is something. The hearts and minds of the people who where there on both sides to tell the stories during that fight are few and are almost gone. Only the battlefield debris left behind can tell the physical story for us and is just as powerful. Nice video.
That is a sad but true reality. We try to do our part to make sure these stories wont go lost forever.
The large hole was probably a machine gun nest with the smaller holes were standard infantry. Rifles supporting a light or medium machine gun.
Hamm 603 prob a 30 or 50 cal
What do you guys do with the findings that are mostly intact? Do y’all attempt to preserve them as momentos, or do y’all try to turn them in somewhere where they can be displayed?
Preservering relics, with thr exception of weapons and ammunition of course, is an important part of what we do. I will be covering this topic on my Patreon!
That 25 pfennig was in ridiculously good condition, and those binoculars, wow, great finds
Thanks for the subtitles in portuguese, people like me who watch this in Brazil and in other countries around the world who don't speak english have a lot of difficulties to understand the language and you make the subtitles help us so much, thanks!
Ps: Sorry for my english, I'm still learning the language and have a little difficulties to write correctly.
Your English is fine. Better than a lot of us in the UK.
Your English is great! And thanks for appreciating. I have viewers around the world and I want them to be able to understand everything!
@@robertwillis4061 thanks
@@mdww2battlegrounds thank you so much
the binoculars were a great find and the rocket shell was a beast nice video
It’s great that you actually put up the comparison piece to show everyone what it comes from. Excellent narrative with the finds also gents. Keep up finding history before it’s all gone and reclaimed by nature herself! To find the shell of a rocket is a find in a million. Priceless as these where fired and exploded with a type of coal dust explosive. Deadly to anything they hit!
How did men get time to shave on the from when the enemy was wanting to snipe at you or blow you to pieces with their artillery or infantry attacks?
Great video with some very nice finds. Congrats! I always enjoy watching relic hunts in the Ardennes. Such a popular place to search. And after decades, the region is still yielding historical military artifacts to the light of day!
It's a cool place indeed! Thanks for watching.
Yet again another excellent video. I am jealous that you guys have these kinds of opportunity's. Please keep them coming and keeping history alive
Thanks for appreciating!
love how you add small clips of the item you find.. thanks
4:06 woooow the trees!! Beautiful scenery 😩♥️♥️
and then you realise that it used to be hell on earth there in 1944
6:30 thats weird, why would it only be the fuel part? It doesnt show signs of it being exploded.
It's likely the rocket motor and warhead are separate components.
Mark McQueen they are, at first i thought they might’ve found an unused part of one. But considering its empty and the bottom plate is missing, its most likely used. Also quite deep, probably because it was sent flying after the explosion and crashed.
First time watching your videos and I instantly fell in love with your videos
That means a lot, thanks!
Wow I think your the most generous youtuber I have ever met you replied to my comment even tho I am 2 weeks late on the video at least somebody responds to me
So what do you do with the findings museau or private collecting?
Sticking little coloured flags where the objects are found, would not only document, but could uncover patterns that could systematically help you search better.
Best I’ve seen in RUclips in awhile
Merci beaucoup pour cette nouvelle vidéo 😉 et merci pour le sous titrage en français 🇫🇷
Hi guys, question. Are you allowed to search there? Because im going to the ardennes aswel so im praying that you don't need a permit :)
Can you keep the ammo rounds that you find if not what do you do with them?
I am really amazed at all the findings.....I like to try to imagine all the soldiers that used these items......i love history......I think you guys should try to go into Vietnam and do some metal detecting......If you can get access.......More history to be uncovered there.....
Your videos is better and better don't stop and do what you like because you are amazing in this.
Thanks, that means a lot!
I’d give anything to dig there. My late father was in those very woods.
You should go
Mine to. Front lines infantry. Blue ridge mountain boys. 80th 317. 1 of like 7 original from his company to come home. Wow would my brother and i. Like to go there with yha
What I like about this type of channel is that people are touching items that were last handled by soldiers 75 or so years ago. What happened to the last person who held that object? Did they survive & go home to their families or did their families have to live with the pain of their loss, their whereabouts unknown?
These are questions that we also ask ourselves! It's what makes metal detecting these ww2 sites so intriguing. Cheers!
I like what you do!!😀
Really great videos! I also appreciate the footage showing the artifacts as they were used. Exciting to watch..also feel the emotions of the time of war. There is alot of misery in these locations and it's important to remember what was happening and why the artifacts are buried in the dirt. The stories they must have to tell. Exciting and very heavy with emotion all at the same time. Thank you for filming and sharing the expierience
There are many stories still to be told! Thanks for your appreciating my work. Cheers!
All very good finds. Bonus with the binoculars.
I read history from this channel 😁 you give too much informations about ww2 thnx
My favorit channel
I give you 100 thumbs up just for pronouncing John Garand's name correctly!
Nobody can even do that over here in the states. It's still the favorite rifle in my collection that I love to shoot.
Keep up the wonderful work my friend. You always have me glued to the screen.
My father was a WW2 vet and I know he would appreciate watching this with me if he was still around.
I hope you stop to reflect on each and every piece you may find and realize the story that may have gotten it there. God bless!
Hey man, really appreciate the nice comment. I'll keep going for as long as I can! Cheers.
Beautiful. Thank you
Very NICEEE video ! Lots of cool finds !
04:50 this is a button and it says “LUDOVICUS REX PLURES NON CAPIT ORBIS,” which translates as, “There is no room in the world for more than one King Ludovicus.”
There is not much to find about it in the internet, but there are claims, that it might be a reference to either König Ludwig von Bayern or King Louis of France.
There buttons can be found all over Europe and parts of Russia.
If it was part of a uniform or other garment from the military, it might be well known, so there is still some kind of mystery about it.
Hell yeah man, so pumped to visit the Ardennes too this spring! Beautiful Forests and Landscapes!
Great Video as usual ;)
Great landscape indeed! Thanks for watching and good luck on your hunt!
What do you do with the live rounds ?
I believe that the "axe" that you found is actually a "tomahawk" that was carried by an American soldier. It was not a regulation issue item.
I love how you use videos to show us how they were this makes the channel great 🥳
Amazing finds! Those binoculars are really spectacular!
What options have you got on you detector? I have got XP ORX and i want to search war. What options is best for war?
Those binoculars looks exactly the same as a pair of binoculars a now dead relative had which was leftovers from her husband.
(Died in 1994 just a few weeks after i was born.)
They were the same exact shape & everything as those binoculars.
From Sweden here btw.
Cant quite recall if they were black or like olive green here, last time i saw them was like 2006.
Wow, Amazing finds! Next video?
After doing some research, I found out that the mortar case you found was an 8 cm Granatwerefer 34 with a Wurfgranate 34 Nb (Smoke grenade)
You gotta remember many of these places were the sites of ww1 battles not just ww2. So relics from the Great War are also possible such as that 1910 coin.
What. A incredible finds.huge thubs up sir
Hi could I have one question? What camera you used for videos? Am making vids metal detecting too but can't find good position for my phone and I see you don't use anything on your head but on chest too right? And like alway perfect video!
Hi, thanks! I recommend to not use a phone but a handycam and/or GoPRO.
@@mdww2battlegrounds thx that is what I need to know :) I will try Sony instead of GoPro but for sharping of small items like a coin's is phone good :) thx for this info
Amazin vids metal detecting is a real hobby for me
I spent two years on the german, Belgium boarder. We had a lot of destroyed bunkers around. We were told on first day not to get off the trails and not to do any metal detecting. A lot of unexploded ordanence in the area. A friend did find an American mortar round.
loved watching it keep it up Chris
Gaaf man die verrekijker! Leuke vid weer. Thanks voor het delen
INCREDIBLE finds! Would you ever consider getting the binoculars restored? I know most items found likely remain as found, but since those are so complete, they might be worth getting refurbished. Anti-everything was some pretty funny stuff! 🍻
Thanks a lot! Yeah anti-everything is very true though haha. Not sure how I can get it restored. The glass of the lenses are not transparent anymore. Maybe it will be difficult...
Metal Detecting WWII Battlegrounds, probably not. Will look great on your shelf though! Great content as usual!
Excellent video. Thank you.
Hi from Serbia 🇷🇸! Very nice video!
Do you have permission to search? Just asking. I searched in the ardennes in a normal forrest (not private) and they still told me not to search cs they were going to alert the police...
Any advise?
Eran Minnaert hence the hidden faces
Just curious would you guys consider selling items found such as the can of Barbasol shaving cream, asking from a collector of those such antiques
Maybe one day. Right now we dont really sell items. Sorry!
Good finds
Yr vids r very entertaining...and educational. Keep up the great work guys!!
Hi I found a plane bullet shell while metal detecting in Oundle England and also found a pill box bunker while finding a bucket and old stereo I have a picture of it as well.
Good job guys!!!
Thank you for your "ALWAYS"very interesting videos!! You had some amazing "finds" in this video! You probably have that in every video....it's just that I have only seen a few of them. I guess that I should get busy...watching- yes?
Continuous luck in your searching is bestowed upon you...and, once again, Thank You all !
Thanks for the support Bruce! I do my best, both in the field and behind the screen!
Do you take trails through there or no I’m interested in metal detecting there one day.
Auesome..After many days..Love you guys..
The battery connector you found is not from a BA-70 battery. They would have 6 plugs. Yours is from a BA-40 that along with BA-39 powered an SCR-510 or SCR-610 radio set.
You rock bro
I m from Pakistan but I love to read world war's history and your videos are a great source of information for me I shock to see these things and think that these things have not much value for us today and just are collective items but how much valuable were these things for the families of those whom these things belonged if they came to know about that
You have great presentation! Really enjoy watching.
Thanks for appreciating!
