I really love the way the weasel is walking away at the end because it tells us so much about her character. All through-out the movie, whenever she killed someone, she showed this pride a hunter has, moving fast with her kill between her fangs, grinning and snarling. Yet, in this last scene she sadly and slowly drags Leafies corpse away. At this point she understood our heros sacrifice. She didn't saw just some prey animal anymore but a mother like herself.
While I think that's probably true (the fact that she didn't want to kill Leafie I mean, understanding her sacrifice, seeing another mother instead of just prey), there is another explanation for the slow dragging. When Leafie looks at the weasel she is on the verge of collapse. She is panting and trembling on her leggs, she can barely stand. So dragging a kill would also be much harder. I also feel that the weasel crying is, yes, probably partly because she doesn't want to kill Leafie, but also they are tears of relief. She really doesn't look like she has a chance of killing any recently fit prey in her state. Don't forget that just prior she spend the energy fighting two possible prey without result already as well. So this free kill is the miracle she never thought she'd get but one she desperately needed.I just saw this is a 3 year old comment, but eh, I'll post this anyway.
This ending is bittersweet and beautiful. Leafie knew she wouldn't survive the winter and she chose to go out on her own terms. The compassion that lead her to raise a stranger's egg was the same compassion that allowed her to see the weasel as another mother struggling to do what was best for her children.
She cried because she knew that Daisy was making a sacrifice... she was giving herself because she knew that her babies would starve with there mother's milk...
Also the scene in wich Leafy (Daisy) is taking her babies as hostage to force her to let her son go might have led the weasel to feel more empathy for her as she realizes that they are both mothers trying to protect their child

Corvid Katana the american version cut the entire sacrifice. Cambiel Mebahiah but think about it.... during the winter, the weasel's natural prey would either be hibernating or flown south for the winter. So there is a high likelihood that without leafie's sacrifice, she and her babies would die. And rhe censored ending gives that vibe
I just watched this today.Very sad indeed. Interesting thing is the fact that One-Eye hesitated for a second. She saw her taking care of her babies earlier. Females can read signs. She knew she was surrendering so she could feed her young. She really didn't want to do it...but she had no choice. Just a mother providing for her babies...showing that she's not evil.
Sad puns. Now I've seen everything. 😞 Makes me think, though, whether or not self-sacrifice is something that predators understand and, maybe, even abhor or regret.
What's more heartbreaking is that Daisy promised Greenie she would be waiting and wouldn't go anywhere. She lied to her son so that he'll go where his heart told him to. She lied so Greenie could see the world
i love this ending. the minute i saw Leafie warming the Weasel's babies i knew she'd want to make this sacrifice for the sake of other children. it completely fits her character and it's too bad it's censored, but at least in the comments of the version i watched someone mentioned this ending. really meaningful stuff tbh. also the animation in this movie was fantastic, i hope the animation team makes more films/gains a larger audience.
ChaoticPøchi I imagine it was censored because they thought it was too dark for other, more "sensitive" audiences I guess I'll call them. Though it seems really sad. I think some schools I've been to showed this version with subtitles being as I remember seeing an animated weasel like her.
I honesty didn't see this coming, it is a nice turn of events, but according to the last scene, I think Willie knows she wasn't going to survive, it's very heartbreaking this movie is.
Sadly they're bound by dumbed down american standards where death is evil, something to be feared. Death is a natural part of life. the hen's time was up, and the flower withering and falling to the earth from whence it came signified that.
I'm pretty sure they could do something this bold, first of all they're not afraid of killing mothers, second they have been more bold in their history that what they're given credit for, and lastly while they are a molochian empire, they are also the home of some of the greatest artists in animation, they have always been.
@@Guyverman01 I do remember seeing Quasimodo's mother breaking her skull in the steps of Notre Dame 50 years later, however as the Iger era it's charterized for being very risk free, i doubt that they will dare now.
The voice acting for the weasel is amazing! The uncensored ending and the scene where she was terrified for her kits' safety made me break down in tears every time! T o T
That scene was SO much better in the original Korean. The English VA sucked. In this one, the fear and desperation in her voice as she begs for her babies' lives is gut wrenching.
This is heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time. Leafie found out what it was like to be a mother. Once her own baby left she willingly gave her life so another desperate mother could save her own babies.
It’s heavily implied that they were only telling themselves that, and that this was goodbye for both of them-the film (and the original children’s story to an even greater extent) basically spells out that Leafie is not going to be around for much longer.
so bittersweet :'( Leafie probably knew she wouldn't survive for much longer, since she'd been sick for a long time and wasn't getting any better, so she made sure her son could leave without regrets, while giving her own life up so that the weasel could feed her own children. such an understanding between mothers right there
I really like the uncut version better. Leafie choosing to die so the weasel's young can live is really beautiful even if it is a sad conclusion to his story.
If you think about it The weasel is just like the other mothers who Struggles just to support their kids No one is trully a bad guy in this movie she was just trying to save her children
@@naturesquad9174 They do outsource works for western cartoons and Japanese anime. We rarely get local or original releases from them, though. They should do more since this and Padak are gaining a lot of traction recently.
@@21minute I remember watching Padak, its my favourite movie and is just as beautiful as this one is, just a hundred times more depressing but Padak's ending also is bittersweet and also hits hard enough to make me rethink my life as to why I am crying over a cgi mackerel and flounder.
Claire James its better than the dark implications of the censored version. Without leafie/daisy letting one-eye take her, the english version is inplying rhat the weasle and her babies didn't survive that winter
In spanish they did a kind of a midway. They visually cut the part in which the weasel appears, but left the sound intact. So while you see the flying shot that ends the english dub, you hear Leafie's last words and the movie ends with the weasel's scream. Interestingly, it happens that the weasel scream is heard when the credits have just started to roll... So it catches you off guard. I think thay surprisingly, it makes it even more intense.
I like how the weasel really isn’t classified as bad or good, she’s a mother trying to feed her babies in a harsh world..I know as a mother to I’d do the same for my child. The fact that she was crying once she realized the sacrifice the hen was making for her babies shows she’s not truly evil at all..:just an animal acting on instinct
Just got my UK release copy. She still dies, but they edited out the shot of the weasel going in for the kill and dragging her body away. I still kinda respect that the dubbers left this ending in,even if they did soften the blow.
+Pyrolonn I agree. It was pretty violent in other parts. Even right off the bat when they show the mangled chicken mass grave. I don't think cutting that out would have made a difference. If anything if gives a sense of completion to the movie.
Children are not as easily traumatized as you would think. My sisters litterally have seen their sister die in from of them (hit by a car) when they were three and five years old and they didn't suffer from trauma, tough obviously it was painful for them (and for me).
Kids can understand death a lot more than adults think. I'm pretty sure many kids could handle the uncensored ending just fine, maybe a little sad but fine. Plus, this ending more appropriately shows the truth of life, there is no true good vs evil because no one is truly evil. There are simply people who have made bad choices, people who are hurting or people who are still in need of aligning their moral compasses. In the case of the weasel, she was just a mother trying to feed her children.
It is a shame this was cut. I saw the cut version and I wondered did the weasel target her out of vengeance for what she did to her babies? After seeing this it sheds light on my question, and gives the whole scene a more touching feeling. The Weasel is shedding tears, which means she understood that this fellow mother was sacrificing herself for her (the weasels) children.
X Zelxski i know, it makes you sympathize with the weasel, because the weasel is crying, she didn't want to kill Leafie, but she had too. They shouldn't have edited that part out, it's very powerful for her to shed tears at the idea of killing a mother that helped keep her babies warm.
No, she knew that Leafie wasn't really going to hurt the babies, she saw her warming them and keeping them safe, but her motherly instinct told her to scream at her to get away from them, but as Leafie looked back while taking Greenie away, they had a mutual understanding as One-eye narrowed her eye, she decided to pursue her, likely to talk or demand what that was, but Leafie knew she was so sick and weak and hens can't really survive out in winter in the wild without proper warmth or anything, and One-Eye was slowly starving to death, you can see she is malnourished by how she shakes even when standing or her ribs in the previous scenes with her at the burrow, and Leafie knew she too would struggle finding food in winter, so she offered herself up
They shouldve kept this ending, it fits way better, and it shows how the weasel is sorry for everything shes done, and she just did it for her babies. I wanted this to be in the movie, I cried in a happy and sad way.
Didn't mean it that way, it's ok to be selfless and have compassion (god knows the world needs more of that), Leafie knew she would die slowly and painfully during winter and chose to go on her own terms, THAT is admirable and very very brave; what I meant in my past comment was that compassion does not equal selfsacrifice. Moreover I doubt she would have done that if she had another option and maybe meet her son in the future or maybe still go to her death to save the weasels (which goes so against every survival instinct I have it gives me chills). The latter feels so wrong to me, that's all.
The removal of the original ending utterly undermines the integrity of the entirety of the film and provides no sense of closure. Censors are absolute morons.
I love how they ended it, although many people think it was not a good ending, (for example some comments below, i respect it though) however In my opinion I think it was very moving and it was amazing how she could sacrifice her own life to save others lives. That is truly amazing.
Trapped In A Game sorry to respond to an old comment, but if you think about it, the censored ending has some very dark implications. Since it doesn't show Leafie's sacrifice, you could see the implication that one-eye and her kits didn't survive the winter, while Leafie did.
Leafie's sacrifice was shown at 2:49. It's really an amazing movie and an ending. An unconditional love between two mothers with their children. And the movie leaves an amazing plot that continues in the minds of (some) viewers: what would Greenie do, feel and say after coming back home--especially if you remember their promises to each other, it kinda portrays real life, you did what you dreamt but your parents are not there anymore.so tragic. I love it!
this ending reminds me of persona 3's protagonist death in the true ending as they are both in their last moments of life not fighting anymore from their inevitable fate that everyone else will face in the future. dying with your purpose completed.
@@historicamenteindependient5778 Nobody said otherwise, it's a beautiful movie, my point is that this movie being great does not take from other movies being amazing also, as most of them are quite different, animation is not a genre, it's a medium.
Jhon Yoon2 no. The censored version has implications that one-eye and her babies didn't make it while Leafie did. While I do appreciate a happy ending, I think the bittersweet ending was better.
Welp How BEAUTIFUL IS THIS MOVIE IS ON THE ENDING people should understand mother struggles People may think the Weasel is the Villian but actually a mother who's trying find food for her kits. So yes i understand how my mother struggles when she tries to handle me.
wait what!??? when i watched this movie ages ago it dident show the weasel crying as she went to kill leafie wtf i feel cheated.. but iam glad that there is at least a better ending to this movie then the one i saw.
Watched the film with the cinema ending, makes me wanna punch a wall to feel manly again. Watching this censored ending, makes me bring down a whole house to feel manly again. Ommmaaaaaa T______T
What hit hard and sank in deep was the fact that she sacrificed herself now that her child is all grown her goal in life was complete so she sacrificed herself so other children can live
this was so sad on so many levels 1 she told him come back and Vist even though she knew she was not going to survive and with the way he was crying and acting he new to 2 she gave herself up on her own terms to Sacrafise herself so the weasels baby's could live but that really fits well for her character btw 3 that weasel did not want to do it she wanted to not kill her that weasel was shocked you could see it after she said yes and did not want to do it you saw her crying she did not want to do it I'm pretty sure the weasel was trying to make her death quick and painless that's why she ran so quickly but the scream was probably because SHE DIDN'T WANT TO DO IT I'M CRYING NOW
There was no real threat, the weasel realizes it, especially when Leafie left with Greenie, she wanted to be mad but couldn't be...especially after seeing that Leafie was sickly, dying and made the greatest sacrifice one could, to provide for another generation
Domestic hens like Leafie are not able to live out in the wild or find food during winter, they live through winter when on a farm because the farmers feed them, she wasn't on the farm anymore and she was also in an egg industry farm where disease ran rampant, she was very sick and also starving, so she wouldn't have survived, so she decided to offer herself to One-Eye
I'm so glad I can watch this for free on demand. I saw the ending, but without the part where one eye cries in respect of Daisy, and as she drags her away.
KB KB It is the way how nature is...sorry it couldn't be satisfied. But it makes me feel empty too when I first saw this movie. It id not a good ending..nor a bad ending... Just an alternative one.
KB KB agreed. The original uncut version shows the truth behind the "villian" she was just a mother who was trying to get food to survive and feed her children, not because she wanted to, but because she needed too.
I find it the best ending! In this one, they show how nature does its way and how a mother will do everything for her baby. It shows unconditional love.
This film shows well that life can be cruel even if you believe everything will be fine. I think this is a more correct message than "just believe in yourself and everyone will be happy" usually shown in children's cartoons, where the main character necessarily defeats the villain. Here we see a gray morality and a character who didn't have much happiness. Like in real life, there's not always a good ending, sometimes it's just rough from start to end.
Honestly, I don't mind them leaving out Leafie's body being taken away. If anything, it lets the audience figure out for themselves what happened and makes the scene more poignant. (Besides, showing her being dragged off makes her look more like a hapless victim than that strong woman who accepted her fate and sacrificed herself to feed the weasel's kits) Though, yeah, removing the tearful pounce I think was going a little overboard. If anything, that is what really makes the true ending so powerful, seeing the deep regret in the weasel's eye just when she's about to go in for the kill.
I think it was perfect as it was, the body being dragged like any other animal we have seen at some point do in our lives. I believe they wanted to show how everyday there is a tragedy and from an impersonal perspective its as common as that. Just that we dont notice most of the time.
Dang it. Ninjas and their onions. I was having a perfectly normal day until i clicked this on my recommended. Gonna have to watch this movie and maybe feel gloomy for a whole afternoon.
I watched this and was so upset for daisy. I mean she never did a bad thing to anyone, just wanted to have freedom and have kids. Where ever she went she was friendly and considerate but no one liked her. Like the heck

humans are animals too. but we can adapt more then most animals. i work in a deli and i hate seeing food go to waste because if an animal is killed it should be eaten. thankfully we have a method of recycleing meat for dog food so someone will still be fed. plus we are omnivores by nature.
Being an omnivore means you can eat a variety to survive not thrive humans often do better with less meat in their diet. Regardless it's fact that humans can thrive and get all their needed nutrition on a meat free diet (even the NHS has this on their website under diet information) so killing animals for meat for humans is unnecessary
Honestly, I just watched the censored version of this, and compared to the original one, i prefer the original by far The weasel is one of the most misunderstood characters Ive ever seen All she ever did was do what was necessary for her own babies to survive
Thanks for this. The version I see, cut the part where Weasel jumps and drags her away, but I actually think the cut parts are redundant. It may be more final to see the done deed, but I found it a lot darker and poignant when the movie ended at Leafie saying she can't let the baby weasels starve. Because you just know she'll die.
I just got done watching this movie and moved on to watch this real ending and omfg. I just HAD to watch this before bedtime?! I CAN'T STOP CRYING, BRO 😭😭😭😭😭
Saw it on Netflix yesterday. They have the scene with oneeye but it's sugarcoated a little. Daisy or Leafie says, I'm not going to survive the winter anyways which kind of take away from her true sacrifice as to say she was going to die anyways which wasn't implied at all in the original. They also edited out the weasel going in for the kill crying and Daisy being dragged away at the end. All man, that's even sadder to see. Netflix said it was rated G. Really? It was very good but to sad for kids.
So this came up out of nowhere and I watched the movie. I did wish I never did cause I never felt so emotional and sad from something like this in a while. Definitely will remember this as much work she went through to raise that duckling..
I really wish they hadn't edited out this ending. It's beautiful. Sure it isn't exactly happy, but it's powerful. I love the message it sends to its viewers.
It’s a shame this film got overlooked it had such amazing scenes and a lot of hard work put into it Puts the bad guys into a whole different perspective a desperate mother trying to feed her babies and knows that killing the hen is the only way she can do it even though it’s not what she wants to do
One of the greatest mothers in film! The weasel killed her love and tried to hurt her baby. But, that moment of strength and forgiveness is such a powerful one! Leafie always cared about babies. She even kept them warm for the weasel! She wanted to be a mother even in death. And the fact the weasel cries! It's an understanding between mothers. It's really a powerful moment. I know why they censored it, but I feel everyone should know the real ending.

i love this ending. the minute i saw Leafie warming the Weasel's babies i knew she'd want to make this sacrifice for the sake of other children. it completely fits her character and it's too bad it's censored, but at least in the comments of the version i watched someone mentioned this ending. really meaningful stuff tbh. also the animation in this movie was fantastic, i hope the animation team makes more films/gains a larger audience.
This movie needs tobecome the best movie evurrrr :,) itsthe new circle of life..

ChaoticPøchi
I imagine it was censored because they thought it was too dark for other, more "sensitive" audiences I guess I'll call them. Though it seems really sad. I think some schools I've been to showed this version with subtitles being as I remember seeing an animated weasel like her.
muito legal
ChaoticPøchi I have the uncut version, and I wish that I didn't.
I honestly can't hate the weasel, its not like she did it just because she wants to, she did it to survive along with her babies.
Yeah and she know she won’t live last long
There’s no good or bad, it’s really just morals, the Weasel can’t survive without meat and has to feed her children
@@mrhippo3610 that how life work kids!
@MyBaconThis Animations its a she in the movie her voice its a female and she breastfeeds her babyes
I honesty didn't see this coming, it is a nice turn of events, but according to the last scene, I think Willie knows she wasn't going to survive, it's very heartbreaking this movie is.
Willy...its daisy or leafy
In the English version, their names are change to Daisy [ Leafie ] and Willie [Greenie] and for this version, its Leafie and Greenie
Yey i never watch it beacuse its so heart breaking
it the English verion of this scene sh zdmits it saying " I woulden't survive the winter anyway and youe children must starve
Ik i think she said that "I wasn't gonna survie winter anyway"
Imagine if Disney had the balls to do something like this in one of their movies.
@@alejandroescalante6338 What I meant was kill off the main character. They did it once in 1946.
@@Guyverman01 I do remember seeing Quasimodo's mother breaking her skull in the steps of Notre Dame 50 years later, however as the Iger era it's charterized for being very risk free, i doubt that they will dare now.
Disney has been killing characters since the 40s. What you should've said was killing off the "Main" character
Who else saw this in their recommended, never watched the movie, but still cried like a baby 😢😢?
Me.
I almost cried.
Sick Banana I'm crying
Me
Sick Banana me! But i honestly didn't cry bcuz the true version doesn't feel as dark as the censored version.
This scene is twice as sad knowing they both promised to see each other when spring comes...
It’s heavily implied that they were only telling themselves that, and that this was goodbye for both of them-the film (and the original children’s story to an even greater extent) basically spells out that Leafie is not going to be around for much longer.
so bittersweet :'(
Leafie probably knew she wouldn't survive for much longer, since she'd been sick for a long time and wasn't getting any better, so she made sure her son could leave without regrets, while giving her own life up so that the weasel could feed her own children. such an understanding between mothers right there
I really like the uncut version better. Leafie choosing to die so the weasel's young can live is really beautiful even if it is a sad conclusion to his story.
We don’t get enough bittersweet sad endings. Not everything should end as a happy finish.
And in the end, her soul is free to see the world, too. The end, with the bird and the otter waving, hints that.
omg...I never knew the weasel was crying when she did it...wow :c
+Red King They edited that out in the English version. The movie ends as she’s about to charge.
If you think about it
The weasel is just like the other mothers who Struggles just to support their kids
No one is trully a bad guy in this movie she was just trying to save her children
maybe coz she was the only prey animal that didn't see her as a monster

Dont Korean studios animate most cartoons since forever?
@@naturesquad9174 They do outsource works for western cartoons and Japanese anime. We rarely get local or original releases from them, though. They should do more since this and Padak are gaining a lot of traction recently.

I never thought a movie about a chicken would bring me to tears
that's for sure
i knew she would give herself to the weasel, but then she shouldn't have told Greenie to come back and tell her all about the wide world.... :(
Evra Beastrion
true, and did you noticed that the weasel was crying as she was gonna kill Leafie? I think she was grateful yet sad :(
+Claire James yes..... if I was the weasel, I would turn back..
TheNightHowler 69
And let your children starve?
Claire James this is late, but she meant when they meet again in the heavens above.
Claire James its better than the dark implications of the censored version.
Without leafie/daisy letting one-eye take her, the english version is inplying rhat the weasle and her babies didn't survive that winter
With this scene here you can see that the weasel doesn’t really enjoy killing.
That’s kind of the point, that she was only ever killing out of necessity, not because she ever enjoyed it.
And I can't say she was evil when she killed the duck couple as its just nature
while i understand the need to end the movie in a happy tone, i love the uncensored version. Life keeps going and everything has its place.
The weasel: "I'm sorry... My friend..."
Just got my UK release copy. She still dies, but they edited out the shot of the weasel going in for the kill and dragging her body away. I still kinda respect that the dubbers left this ending in,even if they did soften the blow.
Thank you for the information! The DVD from Brazil have the full scene, but the dub is awful.
what is the name of the brazilian version? Are you brazilian?
I prefer the uncut version.

아 마지막 장면이 그런거였어..전 별 생각없이 봤는데 알고보니 슬픈장면이였네요..잎싹이가 자유를 맘껏 누렸으면 좋겠어요
Should have been left in there. I like how the movie doesn't sanitize the brutality of nature.
+Pyrolonn I agree. It was pretty violent in other parts. Even right off the bat when they show the mangled chicken mass grave. I don't think cutting that out would have made a difference. If anything if gives a sense of completion to the movie.
+Pyrolonn A modern Watership Down.
Yea but you have to think of the fact that this is a kids movie. Seeing the main character die wouldn't be exactly the nicest thing for children.
No, she knew that Leafie wasn't really going to hurt the babies, she saw her warming them and keeping them safe, but her motherly instinct told her to scream at her to get away from them, but as Leafie looked back while taking Greenie away, they had a mutual understanding as One-eye narrowed her eye, she decided to pursue her, likely to talk or demand what that was, but Leafie knew she was so sick and weak and hens can't really survive out in winter in the wild without proper warmth or anything, and One-Eye was slowly starving to death, you can see she is malnourished by how she shakes even when standing or her ribs in the previous scenes with her at the burrow, and Leafie knew she too would struggle finding food in winter, so she offered herself up
Anomaly Tenacious i believe that censoring this scene has darker implications than leaving it uncensored
I love the uncut version. Cause it shows the main antagonist (the weasel) is just another mother struggling to raise her kids.
They shouldve kept this ending, it fits way better, and it shows how the weasel is sorry for everything shes done, and she just did it for her babies. I wanted this to be in the movie, I cried in a happy and sad way.
It is kept in some versions! It's just that it got censored depending on the places it was released to.

Leafie is my new heroine. T-T
Wachax she may be a heroine but I'd never make her my role model :/
Didn't mean it that way, it's ok to be selfless and have compassion (god knows the world needs more of that), Leafie knew she would die slowly and painfully during winter and chose to go on her own terms, THAT is admirable and very very brave; what I meant in my past comment was that compassion does not equal selfsacrifice. Moreover I doubt she would have done that if she had another option and maybe meet her son in the future or maybe still go to her death to save the weasels (which goes so against every survival instinct I have it gives me chills). The latter feels so wrong to me, that's all.
The censored version just feels so unresolved.
I'm glad for the weasle and leafie
The uncut version was so lovely , especially the ending you could see both mothers one sacrificing herself and the other struggling for food
The removal of the original ending utterly undermines the integrity of the entirety of the film and provides no sense of closure. Censors are absolute morons.
I don't see anything in the ending that must be censored. I don't understand the logic of censors

The fact that she died is kinda sad.

People may think the Weasel is the Villian but actually a mother who's trying find food for her kits.

What hit hard and sank in deep was the fact that she sacrificed herself now that her child is all grown her goal in life was complete so she sacrificed herself so other children can live
this was so sad on so many levels
1 she told him come back and Vist even though she knew she was not going to survive and with the way he was crying and acting he new to
2 she gave herself up on her own terms to Sacrafise herself so the weasels baby's could live but that really fits well for her character btw
3 that weasel did not want to do it she wanted to not kill her that weasel was shocked you could see it after she said yes and did not want to do it you saw her crying she did not want to do it I'm pretty sure the weasel was trying to make her death quick and painless that's why she ran so quickly but the scream was probably because SHE DIDN'T WANT TO DO IT I'M CRYING NOW
also I'm pretty sure at first the weasel was still mad about the threat to her baby's but I'm pretty sure she understands why
There was no real threat, the weasel realizes it, especially when Leafie left with Greenie, she wanted to be mad but couldn't be...especially after seeing that Leafie was sickly, dying and made the greatest sacrifice one could, to provide for another generation
why is she not going to survive?
Domestic hens like Leafie are not able to live out in the wild or find food during winter, they live through winter when on a farm because the farmers feed them, she wasn't on the farm anymore and she was also in an egg industry farm where disease ran rampant, she was very sick and also starving, so she wouldn't have survived, so she decided to offer herself to One-Eye
oh ok, its a high probability. I thought leafie had a disease, initially, that I'm not aware of. ty!
I'm lucky that I'm Korean. I can watch this lovely film without any difficulty

KB KB and it has dark implications
I find it the best ending! In this one, they show how nature does its way and how a mother will do everything for her baby. It shows unconditional love.
I watched this movie when I was a kid. And it's one of the movies I can never forget.
I wonder how willy would react after he found out his mother was eaten by the weasel when he came back
Greeny*
Devastated I'm sure

Just that we dont notice most of the time.

humans are animals too. but we can adapt more then most animals. i work in a deli and i hate seeing food go to waste because if an animal is killed it should be eaten. thankfully we have a method of recycleing meat for dog food so someone will still be fed. plus we are omnivores by nature.
Honestly, I just watched the censored version of this, and compared to the original one, i prefer the original by far
The weasel is one of the most misunderstood characters Ive ever seen
All she ever did was do what was necessary for her own babies to survive
Thanks for this. The version I see, cut the part where Weasel jumps and drags her away, but I actually think the cut parts are redundant. It may be more final to see the done deed, but I found it a lot darker and poignant when the movie ended at Leafie saying she can't let the baby weasels starve. Because you just know she'll die.
It's the weasel's scream that makes the scene worthwhile, I think; all that pain and rage...
I havent watched this movie in so so so long, but truly it’s one of the saddest yet beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the throwback.

It’s a shame this film got overlooked it had such amazing scenes and a lot of hard work put into it
Puts the bad guys into a whole different perspective a desperate mother trying to feed her babies and knows that killing the hen is the only way she can do it even though it’s not what she wants to do
Censorship is sometimes just plain EVIL.
She cared so much for life that she was willing to give up her own.
