The fact that this is the same price as the star destroyer is mind blowing
Now that is crazy
Look at the turbo tank, its an even worst set at the same price
@@dangerousrobot6308this is an mtt video why would we talk about the turbo tank?
@17denby Cause it has the exact same price, comes in the same wave, and is more or less its counterpart?
@17denby i dont see the criticism for talking about the Star Destroyer. Sounds like somebody's on COPIUMMMM
So, LEGO said they want to decrease the size to make the sets more affordable, but i dont think 160$ for that measly of a set is justified. This pricing scheme feels like a big scam tbh. (Also looks like price skimming to me)
In some cases, it's true for the ship ones like the x wing, tie fighter, arc170 u wing etc
The price is a scam. The rumored price for Ewok and the droid with stap was like $30-40 cheaper than its current price. Safe to say LEGO raised prices for the most of the wave except K2-SO by like 30 percent
Truth is the sets have became smaller and less affordable

@@ジェノアス2 Sorry for the english respone but we do, at stores where I live only certain sets sell well while others rot on the shelves. There were some animal crossing sets discounted by 80% that I bought for 5'000 JPY for example.
The fact it could easily hold 2 more battle droids and they didn't throw them in is beyond me
Greed…
For $160 they should have found a way to have that extra layer of 8 droids on top. No question.
The fact it's been 25 years and they're still using the same B1 battle droid molds is beyond me. Like come on, update them already. Clone army customs has a great design with so much more articulation.
@@ayato1036never understood this argument tbh. Battle droids having more articulation than normal minifigures sounds like the most unrealistic thing to ask for or expect Lego to do.
Proof that Lego simply doesn’t care
It's crazy how even with inflation this set is more expensive than the 2007 MTT, while having 300 less pieces and being worse.
BLASPHEMY
That’s when Lego cared. They need some real competition they just getting lazy now
That was when lego was trying to get out of the hole 😂 now they are on-top of the world and can charge whatever they want because people will still buy it
Its just the pricing tbh
I mean there are a few others but it’s the price that’s the main problem
Me and a ton of casual Lego starwars fans are slowly being priced out of our hobby. I used to buy 2, maybe 3 sets a year. That is now one a year. Especially in Canada, where it is 200
Here in Brazil is worst, it price is 1000 BRL, almost a minimum month salary here...
@@baixaquiplayswow that’s 200BRL more expensive than Canada’s $200 CAD. I’m so sorry my friend
It’s $200 CAD on the website, not $210. That’s the price of the Star Destroyer
And here in Argentina, where I've seen the ATTE at 300-400 dollars I'm expecting to see this at minimum 500 dollars. What a tragedy
i haven’t bought a set since 2023. i just can’t keep up with the pricing :(
My jaw dropped when you put it next to the atte, it’s so small compared to that
Oh yeah..... Smol....
Not to mention the at te was 140$ with more pieces, and more minifigs this mtt just has a lot of droids which it should but doesn’t change the fact the at te has more minifigs
Same! I can't unsee it, its so bad
Kids are used to having it small, dont worry
im looking to get either the battle of scarif set from rogue one or the imperial landing craft but don't know which one i should get what do you think
The 2007 MTT was bigger, could deploy much more droids and only cost $100.
Adjusted for inflation, that would be about $155 today.
Exactly I don’t know why this guy is saying this mtt is a good predecessor.. it met the bare minimum requirements. It would have been a good predecessor if it has the same size, minifigs, with the accuracy and colors
Successor* perhaps
@17denby it is fine as a set, if it was actually priced reasonably itd be good
@17denbyyeah i’d be fine with 160$ if it was 1300-1500 parts and a decent amount of figs.
@17denbythe only goof thing about this is the exterior and the 3 new commando droids.
Something crazy to think about: This set is $160 with 976 pieces, the Star Destroyer from last year was $160 with 1555 pieces. I don't even know what LEGO is basing prices off anymore😂
Pretty sure they're upcharging for Clone Wars/prequel era sets
People have a weird obsession with clone troopers and lego knows that
mtt is 250, star distroyer is 300. they are not the same price everyware
Whatever they think they can get away with
Right?!
Really shows how impressive the 2008 version is, such an amazing set that can’t be beat nearly 20 years later
2007, but yeah, Lego can’t catch up. $160 for this is COMPLETELY unjustified
No, it wouldn't be that hard to improve, lego hust dosent try anything anymore, knowing all the lapdogs will buy them either way
See a cool set: "Oh, intertesting, I might go out and pick that up"
*$160*
"Nevermind"
The droid deployment is so smooth holy cow
13:24 - according to lego, in total 320$ on that table
Just imagine
shouldn’t even break 200
Despite the price, arguably the best Star Wars set for August
That’s not an achievement with bar that low
All the sets are good but all the prices are bad 😂 yeah this is defo the best set overall
They're all pretty great but they'll only be worth it when I'm seeing em for 40% off minimum
@@Barsuk1010the bar isn’t low
@ThomasJ08blame the tariffs from a certain orange in the White House
I really appreciate the effort that you showed how the mechanism works.
I love when reviewers show interesting building phases.
Partly why I got away from M&R. Like he doesn’t even build the sets while not being part of the LEGO is just weird cause he skips over the little niches and cool details because of that.
@@dannysolucky3904Yeah I feel like his emphasis is on star wars rather than lego.
I also hate the speed up builds some reviewers make, its a waste of time. Just divide the build to 8-10 steps and show it for a second. How many times I tried to understand a part of a build, trying to catch a milisecond frame :). Racing brick is great at presenting building phases and clever solutions.
@@dikenlikalpI’ll have to check them out! I feel like the sped up videos are just a product of the time. Just easier and more digestible for quick glances on socials
Crazy disgusting how there’s still stickers and printed waist capes that that price range. It’s insane. At the bare minimum at that price there should be no stickers and an actual waist cape
A great blend of scaled down but still captures look and functionality
it's not even that scaled down from 2014 and carries the same amount of droids, and moreover it has Bly and 3 commando droids. I would even say this is better than the 2014 one, price aside....
What are you talking about, it only has one function. The back storage isn't anything and neither is the pilot. Sure how the droids are deployed is interesting but I take the 2007 10/10. I don't want to hear how expensive it would have been if they made it the same size. They're just simply overcharging now
I feel like that’s most LEGO Star Wars sets for the last few years
I didn’t expect to see you here! 😂 But I do agree with your comment
It’s barely even scaled down, you people never look at source material i swear to god
Putting it next to the at te makes the size really that much more noticeable in universe the mtt is triple the length and double the height of the at te
10:29 Seeing how easy it was for you to make it 8 droids instead of 6 really lowkey pissed me off man... like cmon, really? They can't spare that little bit to make the set a little better? What's the cost on customer enjoyment? A few pennies per set, and they cant afford it? This feels like micro aggressions man, like look me in the face and justify why you cant add two more pieces and two of the most mass producable figs out there...
At the very least it’ll be easy to mod. Most people can get two grey disks and some spare battle droids, but it doesn’t excuse Lego selling customers shorts.
10:38 is proof that Lego genuinely does not care at all about how pricey there sets are, and how they don’t care about the fans. It clearly can hold 8 droids but they had to get stingy and make it hold 6
I was just thinking this, if Solidbrix is right it could even hold 16.
It most definitely can hold 16 but you'd probably not be able to drop the rack fully down as the droids on top will prevent the rack from folding all the way @tigorameckers7229
I get that it seems annoying that there's 2 blank spaces but the fact that we have a separatist mtt and have gotten loads of prequel sets does show that they do care about fans (at least the hardcore ones)
@@PuddingPlayer.not even, they just know they can milk those fans for more money, and less quality product
@@bruced09more money I can see but less quality? The detail is great and the u loading mechanism is insane an arguably much better than the 2007 one
Ridiculously overpriced but this is a great build and love the figures. Gonna wait to pick this up on sale like the majority of recent sets.
That’s the smart move but even then it‘ll just be what the MSRP should be, without discounts.
@@borkwoof696 that's what infuriates me I have to wait for clearance and sales to see sets be the price they should've been originally. And it's hard to pull the trigger for that. Lego I think knows some people will overpay and they will get the rest of people to buy them at a normal price dressed up as a "discount"
Where do you buy them at a discount? I feel like I NEVER see them discounted, even older sets, and I tried looking because I love Lego but hate spending that much
Lego star wars prices those days...
Oh, it’s beautiful
- Director Krennick
I can’t wrap my head around these prices. Lego doesn’t have to pander to shareholders, yet the value on every SW set they release is horrendous
I’m just guessing with the usual response is due to production cost. But I do agree, $160 is a lot. It’s £130 though in the UK.
@DingySenior its 140 in the uk
@@arthurcash2 Oh, then my mistake then.
That gives me hope then. £130/£140 is slightly better value.
@@joshslater2426 huh no it isnt.
If only it were the size of the 2007 MTT and this would arguably be a top 10 Star Wars set, minus UCS sets of course.
The crazy thing is it would still be overpriced even then 💀
Can’t wait to use it in my next moc, definitely my favorite upcoming set
I feel sad for you
The problem with the price is not that it’s uniquely overpriced relative to most other LEGO Star Wars sets both past and present. In my opinion, the problem is two-fold: LEGO is charging premium prices and most often delivering products with quality issues (especially in North America) such as print color mismatches, stickers that don’t match plastic colors, etc… and more importantly, compared to say 2012, it’s much harder to feed ourselves with the dollar today. The proportion of what we get compared to what we spend is getting worse all across the board of life. As such, I love LEGO, but I can’t responsibly be paying full price for this stuff anymore.
I’d love to try to modify it to make it carry the 16 droids
I don’t think it would be very hard either, I’m sure if you can just get your hands on some of the same pieces used for the first racks you could easily add those two extra racks.
I am curious, how MTT looks next to 2020 AAT. Hope it looks good
Same, also would love to see it next to the 2008 AAT.
Love how honest you are in the reviews, spot on! We appreciate it. Keep up the good work👊🏼👍🏼
Honestly David, when it was a rumor at the time, people were worried that it'll be similar as the previous model, but 9:27 when they revealed a new deployment feature for the first time it blew me away and I agree it's possible to modify the droid rack. It may not perfect but it's not impossible to modify, for me going on budget I agree to just wait till there's a discount sale in the next few months. Hopefully Black Friday/Christmas sale
I just really like that there’s a mix of grey and blue instead of it being a single color blob like many Lego star wars sets
Ye
Double the price
Half the size
Lego logic
pretty much
💯
They said they would decrease the size to make it more affordable, but they made them smaller and the price did not go down, if not anything it went up😮
Can’t wait for this to go on sale ridiculous prices
I don’t think they will for the next two years tbh
@17denby Amazon routinely drops the price after a few months, like the ARC-170 has been $55 for a while now.
@17denby it will by the holidays do not worry, most lego sets are on discounts around that price
The MTT is too small. It doesn't scale well with the AT-TE.
That would mean ... 250$ Thats the price for a UCS one
@@Mrbrick-o9y 2007 wasn't UCS, it was just normal. AND cheaper even despite inflation. You just can't make this up😂
@peterpolus5272 Im talking about the prices that Lego has right now Im not defending Lego their prices right now are crazy
Tbh I just want a MTT
12:55 umm 160 is already way to much for this
Was thinking the same thing
even 120 is crazy for this
Not gonna lie I think this is the best MTT LEGO has put out yet, ever since I was a kid watching the clone wars I’ve wanted a blue and gray MTT and it’s finally here!
While I feel there's no topping the 2008 version, standing on its own the 2025 MTT is very very impressive. When I get mine, I'll probably change some things here and there, a tad more greebling at the back, remove the stud shooters at back, and bam, perfect to me.
The classic Trade Federation color scheme is probably preferred by most people, I won't lie, I love it too. But I LOVE the Separatist color scheme, and it makes Clone Wars scenes all the more authentic.
Now that we have that printed dish, what I'd like to see.... Is someone to make a Separatist version of the 2008 MTT.
I honestly love the new deployment mechanism, it is so good how it closes
Finally I am so hyped for this ❤🎉
Can’t wait for your video modding the mtt, even though i won’t be buying it until it’s on sale
Looks so out of place and tiny next to the other $140 sets at 13:50 :/
Dang :| I would’ve liked a Brown one
Why did he position the camera angle to make the at te look smaller?😂
$160 for less than 1,000 pieces… That’s insane and ridiculous. If we stop paying these prices they’ll stop trying to sell at them.
This would be the only set out of the summer wave I would consider buying. Probably because I’ve wanted a modernized MTT for awhile now and I’m glad they finally did it
If Commander Bly had arm printing and a waist cape, he would be one of the best clones Lego has ever made.
Regardless of the state of Lego Star wars right now this has to be top 10 aesthetically pleasing sets ever
What I just absolutely can't comprehend, is that in the 2007 MTT, the droids are next to eachother with no gaps, and if they had done that for the 2025 one, we could have had 8 droids being carried instead of 6, with no problems whatsoever. They just added a 1 piece gap between the droids for no reason. JUST PUT THEM CLOSER TOGETHER AND GIVE US 2 MORE DROIDS BECAUSE 6 IS TOO FEW AND EVEN 8 IS TOO FEW
Nice video bro I like new Lego MTT Review and I watched you 15 years ago
If you can do 16 please make a video showing us how
We need a UCS MTT that can deploy 112 B1’s
ive been waiting for years for this set to finally come out, ive always wanted a separatist mtt
I'm usually not a fan of clone wars vehicles, but this set looks fantastic.
The best thing to do with this MTT is to combine like 2 or 3 and to make a big and beautyfull one, please do it man, you have really cool desings!
This new version just feels bare to me. I like the mechanics of the doors and the rack. I like the angles on the colour scheme and the way the livery has been done. But I don’t think the shaping is right and it feels like Lego ran out of money towards the back, which is ridiculous considering the price of this thing
Couldn’t agree more.
I’ll have to model the back when I get it. The back does look quite bare, but at least that makes it look more Lego-y (compare it with the Turbo Tank which barely has any exposed studs).
I can't wait to see how you're going to improve the droids' function, great video!
14:24 I would but you haven't released it yet xD
Thanks for the high quality video and I’m really happy with the review!
HOLY COW that droid deployment rack is 10/10!! Love how the rack drops down!!
Wish it was a bit bigger. But whatever still cool
You just saw they took at least 2 droids off the table and you're saying 10/10 XD
@@peterpolus5272he means the deployment tray, not what it carries
Thanks for showing the mod, it’s pretty simple but I would have never thought of it
Both cammando droid colors exist in canon. Cmon guys that shouldn’t be a talking point there’s more glaring issues
Just shows the casual fans. Star Wars has a problem where so many people are not Star wars fans, they are Clone Wars fans. All they know is clone wars, nothing else. It’s frustrating, especially with how much of the clone wars is just legends or the 2003 clone wars
Hi David! Do you know where people in Canada can purchase the 2 in 1 set? Will it also be available on August 1st?
WE NEED 5 mods that you can do for this like you did with the gunship
Lego. That AT-TE is sized just right. You can NOT have an MTT SMALLER than an AT-TE, this is crazy! And for that price? What the hell??
At least the molded Pauldrons show that they’re listening to us a lil bit
This new MTT is at least well detailed, and it’s got a good mechanism. It’s just let down by the smaller size and the price.
Really wanting to color swap this to brown! How easy do you think that’ll be?
I knew the MTT wouldn’t disappoint
5:51 There are seemingly different versions of these in the Clone Wars. In the Episode where Cad Bane goes into the Senate the Commando Droids are in a fitting color: Here’s the link, they literally pop up in the first seconds. That makes these figures quite a rare W, wether on purpose or not, they are basically accurate to a more rarely seen version of this figure, which i think is really cool.
I think everyone who wants to buy the MTT should wait until it goes down in price. If everyone do so, it must get on discount
That is what I am doing with this set and the new 327th battlepack. €150 for this set is very high.
This is the winner of this wave of sets. Minifigures are excellent, play feature is genius, and the design hits the mark. I'm glad it's being released alongside the battle pack in a gift set, fingers crossed at a discount.
13:27 to be fair david, the turbo tank does look very bad and overpriced, but you can’t compare a regular battle droid with a galactic marine. the turbo tank has 5 real minifigs while the mtt only has 2 (let’s be generous and say 5 with the commando droids)
That’s what I’m saying, idk abt you but I’d much rather have the figure lineup in the turbo tank over the one in the mtt. Feels like he is over hyping this mtt way too much.
@17denbysame, but i can also understand his view. i like aalia and bly better than ki a di mundi and baccara, but i like the 3 galactic marines way more than the 3 commandos. id say both lineups are about as good but it just feels desingenious calling the MTT one way better
Amazing review as always David!!! Keep up the great work. The set looks great, ashame about the price though.
5:51 The commando droid is brown in the games too the silver isn’t accurate to anything except maybe the citadel designs from the clone wars but they are not grey 😭😭
Even in the clone wars they are a dark brown borderline grey, and in other depictions they are grey
@@EdwinPearson-j7qthere always a brown the only instance of them being grey are the hasbro black series one being a weird grey but still kinda brown (hard to explain without a picture) and the citadel commando droids from the clone wars arc and they are gold and grey
@greyisland217”there always a brown”??? And Lego doesn’t really base the appearances on the clone wars they base then on the more live action appearances, but they never appear in live action so they probably just based them on the hasbro figure and battlefront
@@EdwinPearson-j7q in battlefront there brown I played as one last night and they are brown also Lego doesn’t base things off exclusively live action just look at the animated style of Bly in the same set and all the other clones they’ve made since 2020. Not to mention the clone wars and rebels sets Lego made in the style of the respective show. There’s two different bo katans in recent years and one is cw styled and the other is Mando live action styled. Lego chooses what to style there figs after based on the media it’s from unless it’s a clone and in that case it’s kept somewhat constant to not break up the identical army aspect which is only a recent decision as in the past they had separated live action from animated clones like in 2014 where u could buy both at once
I was certain I was going to get this. But now I’m not entirely sure. I’m a devout Lego collector, my clone wars collection is my pride and joy. But CAD$200 for this seems absurd to me. I’ve waited for this colour scheme MTT for forever but I don’t know if I can justify it.
I dont know guys, it looked a lot better on the box, this set is smaller than the 2014 set, and those front turrets look really off for some reason, i dont think this is actually significantly better than the turbo tank
The turrets are too small, which is probably what looks off to you
Yeah fax and it’s barley bigger than the 2000 version
Exactly, I don’t know why people are acting like this set is any better than the turbo tank when they both face the same issues. In fact I think this mtt might be smaller than the turbo tank. Not to mention the turbo tank comes with better minifigs meanwhile the mtt has a lot of droids which is good for that set but not worth near how much the galactic marines and bacara will be. Either way these two sets face the same issues so why are we giving one extra leeway?
@17denby the turbo tank was some serious stabilty issues while the MTT actually implemented really good techniques for that droid deploy section, you may like the figures but figures alone don't make a set good. MTT is FAR superior, it just needs a $30 discount which it will probably get by December, meanwhile the turbo tank isn't even worth 100
Agreed nothing good except the clone.
I can't believe this is real, this is a set that a fan of the Clone Wars will definitely buy, I don't know anyone who won't buy it
We're still missing flying separatist vehicles, but this is a good start
Would you plan on modifying the interior to include a second row of droids? Maybe with a guide on how to do it
When comparing figs I dont really like comparing a dime a dozen B1 droid to a regular minifig. So I wouldnt really feel like the MTT has "more minifigs"
Yea the turbo tank comes with more minifigs. I don’t even consider the battle droids to even be minifigs tbh. Don’t know why he made such a dumb comparison right there
I liked that they put droid eyes so i can live out my fantasy that the CIS made giant sentient droids instead of piloted vehicles
What LEGO has been doing recently (and it is confirmed) is that they raise the retail price so that they can make more sales eyeonce they put it on sale on markets like target Walmart Amazon etc. this isn’t the price they want to put it at but it’s smarter for them in the long run because they get more sales from people who think they’re getting a deal, if u have any questions just ask me in the reply section.
Where was this confirmed?
@@Power6563 Its just Consumer Surplus, a very common economic theory that essentially is the extra value consumers receive when they buy a product for less than what they were willing to pay.
And Lego wants to reduce that as much as possible - like they want the rich people who will pay 160 dollars and the other people who only pay like 140 dollars, but they don't want to just put it at 140 to get them both; because really want that extra 20 dollars that rich person is willing to pay.
Ideally they would just charge them differently, but since thats illegal, they just set it at the high price and then out massive sales later on. They also want to reduce any value from sales for the same reason - reduce consumer surplus
The 2014 MTT vs the 2008 is like you vs the girl he tells you not to worry about. THOSE SHAPES OMFG!!!
Commando droids are 10000% dark brown in the shows. Imagine lego releases a new grevious and he is sand blue lol...
Can’t wait to make a BP edit of the 2007 MTT and this MTT.
Brutal…
Goes on sale august first, but 99% of people are waiting for this to go on clearance
I want to say i was able to get the current $160 star destroyer on sale on amazon (black Friday or prime day) for around $108 after taxes. i would wait for a similar sale for both the MTT and Turbo tank.
It is truly sad as a lego star wars fan since 2005 6ish that it has come to these prices
MY BOY IS ON TRENDING CONGRATS
The mtt came out in 2007 not 2008
Despite the price, the fact that you can use the troop deployment function AND you can retract it back smoothly is incredible
The more people continue to pay these regarded prices the more it will continue in the future
9:34 the doors actually close on their own! That's something no other MTT has done before, that's awesome!
One question. Did this set include extra pauldron pieces?
I'd rather spend the $200 for a slightly more bigger or equal to the 2007 version IMHO. However, I like the 2025 mtt
UCS MTT..... LEGO.... Do it 😂
That function looks so fun. I can get behind a smaller build when it has good play function.
Im probably still going to wait for a sale.
Fantastic, amazing set. It's about time we got it.
However, the only way I am buying this set is if its discounted 25% off or more, its just not worth the full price they're asking. Sorry, not sorry, Lego.
Maybe don't cheap out on every possible thing you can, (for a "low hanging fruit" example) things like printed waist capes when there should be physical waist capes, I'm super sick of the printed on waist capes, it's crappy looking. Or if the price is going to be this high, the stickers should be printed pieces instead.
Yeah bro it’s so disappointing
Could you do a color swapped MTT to brown? Or would the printed piece be too much of a hurdle
Ooo its up
I just realized bly is shooting at Ayla on the box art that’s a nice detail
The doors close by themselves now, that is SUCH a clean function.
It’s good to know you can easily add more droids. This set is honestly really impressive
I clicked so fast LETS GOO
So is there an easy way to extend the deployment rack piece? It looks like a 2 x 8 plate, so would it accomodate a 2 x 10 or a 2 x 12?
