I tend to do the normal front flip kickoff, but instead of flipping in to it, I flip late so that I’m somewhat under the ball, then flip forward and upwards. If done right, you will have a free air dribble into the net.
Yea. I do air roll and I just jump and boost into the ball until the opponent gets towards the top of the ball. If he doesn’t I just never flip, land and jump again. And just basically make my car a drill at the center of the ball. But this pancake one does seem safer I suppose. I’ll have to try it.
I find it important to mix it up. My favourite is stopping about a car's length away from the ball and jumping, which lets them overextend. I use this, the plank, and the normal jump without rolling start to keep my opponent guessing.
I actually started doing it instinctively during training with intermediate level bots, and now it's way easier with human opponents. Yep, it's effective

The gold shot(horse kick) if you boost toward the ball and turn around and flip away it will throw it toward the top of your goal, good for setting up team plays
The gold shot on a kickoff is super easy just jump turn upside down then jump. When I tried on on kickoffs tho it’s just tends to bounce on the opponent while I fly back and sometimes just fly straight into my goal since it’s pretty hard
Yeah I've seen the pancake being used a lot. I've been countering it by doing a flip kickoff while boosting into the ground for follow up flips. I usually drive right underneath them
It pisses me off though. I was punching my phone when I lost bc of the stupidest kickoffs. It was 7-3. I’m finna break something playing this game. It’s fun but I lose it when I lose to stupid games I should’ve won or when there is clearly a big huge gap in skill level😂

I will say that I think that there is a better variation of this kickoff. If you use the boosted jump to quickly flip towards the ball and then tilt your car up, you will be first and also do a pancake.
I like this tech, will definitely incorporate it. My go to is to start going back towards my own goal and jump into the 50/50 position. From there I defend the kick or settle into the goal and turtle. Once I block the shot I usually go on offense and try to shoot but try to get back to my side if the arena as fast as possible.
I can adapt to these kickoffs pretty well I just slow down my kickoff a bit so I have time to react to fake, pancake, and normal kickoff so I just have an advantage
A strategy I love on shortstack far kickoff is to fake and jump backwards into my net to let the ball roll up the wall before touching it up into and air dribble. It’s a super effective mix up
Can confirm. Just stried this and won 3 from 3 with score lines of 5-0, 5-0 and 6-1 with that 1 goal being when I missed the open net after the kick off. EDIT* All the these were forfeits btw.
I love that everyone uses this kickoff, it makes my own special kickoff way easier to get free goals on Pancakers. Drive back to your goal, flip around and boost into the ball, just as you're about to hit it, flip your back end toward the ball for a Gold Power shot and it launches so fast into their goal they have no time to even attempt a block. If by some chance you miss, you're already back to your starting spot as a Gold shot will send you back where you came. Easy way to ensure you have super powerful shots that they just can't block
The funny thing is that, i actually never knew that there was even a kickoff named as "The Pancake". Today morning, during kickoff i bymistically did the pancake kickoff and i was like wow that is really good, i should try that more often
Just want to add something... From personal experience, I think I may have a better hoops kickoff. If you aim your car at the ball and then jump and front flip at it, you typically get possession. After this, just keep your car aligned with the ball's arch (follow the ball from behind) to keep the opponents from clearing and you're golden. Your teammate needs to go up the backboard and off in the middle of the square to follow up, just don't go past the opponents rim. This allows for a save or, if need be, an open pass. I use this kickoff and went from silver 3 to plat 3 in a day.
Also another great hoops kickoff, that can get you possession directly, you boost forwards on the ground until you reach the white line, then you jump, using the momentum you built up you can typically get to the ball more often. And can give you a reset almost 100% of the time
1 of the kickoffs i started doing is jump and air roll while boosting towards the ball, this most of the time allows u to at the very least stall the ball against almost any kickoff if not just win the kickoff and u will still have double jump afterwards. it doesn't actually beat everything though, so if this doesn't work i will just boost towards ball with either a single or double boost jump and i have yet to actually lose a kickoff with it, although u do have to follow up with an aerial if its a tie, unless ur teammate does. personally i think the safest kickoff (at least for gold and lower) is just boosting into a single boost jump and reacting to what happens.
I been having some good luck with doing a kind of wavedash kickoff, I typically aim straight down the whole time, let's you have more boost and control usually. 😁👍🏼👍🏼
I used to do that, but that allows the ball to shoot over you going straight at goal. My personal kickoff is :boost and jump by the 2 lines and then aim straight for the middle of the ball and flip again. Been using it since silver and havnt lost a kickoff
I mostly speedflip to the ball (airroll and frontflip with boost). Many of the times i end up losing the kickoff. I might as well try this technique...
0:57 I jump a little earlier than you and this kick off almost never loses when I play, you just have to just earlier to not front flip over the ball. (BTW I am not too high level, plat in duels and gold and both modes so I don’t have much room to talk)
Counter to pancake: Flat jump with nose towards the center, boost into the ball while landing, now you're on the ground with the opponent still in the air, force it under the opponent, free goal.

Except the pancake one more thing that I use is the delay diagonal in which I go a bit in the air at a slight angle, keeping my centre of weight around the centre of the ball to redirect the opponent's force either to the sky or to their own goal. From this, it's also easy to pancake or fall back in case you don't feel confident about the kickoff. Also as the name says, make sure to start boosting a bit later than your opponent so that he's the first to the ball.

Bruh I’ve been doing some testing. It seems like all cars have the same hitbox. All cars have a hitbox that looks more or less like a 3D rectangle. So with the merc the ball bounced slightly under the roof of the car whilst with the dominous the ball bounced slightly above the roof on the car. Meaning that all cars have the same hitbox.
I use what i call the flying spin kickoff in which you double tap the joystick then jump and then boost straight to the center of the ball. It's useful because people will be trying to get under the ball but if you use this then they will just set you up for a quick and easy goal. Ill try using the pancake
Boost to the ball, turn around at the last minute so your car faces the ball with the back of the car and clicking the boost toward. Giving you a golden Kick off( what I call it bc no one is doing it it)
I have another one that is pretty good. Just boost and jump once against the ball and keep boosting. It pushes the ball over or under the enemy every time
I do this thing where I wait till the front of the car is under the ball while approaching I'm aiming the joystick down. Right as my car is under the ball I quickly turn my joystick up and hit the boost jump button. This works really well in Duel and sometimes in 2v2, it'll almost always give me a goal, given there is not player interference. Think of it like you scooping up the ball then just throwing it.
I know one. Back flick - if done correctly it will end up in direct goal. Just before you hit the ball, slow down. Let other person take the ball and immediately raise the back. If timed right, it will end up in direct goal.
I use a similar strategy but yet different: In the first kickoff, I do pancake like others do. In the second kickoff, I do pancake again. In the third kickoff, I do brodoff. In the fourth kickoff, I do fake. In the fifth kickoff, I do pancake. In the sixth, I do fake. In the seventh, I do simple. In the 8th, I do broadoff. (My games are usually up to these many kickoffs!)
here is some kickoff and some ways to score i use: afk: you pretend to be afk and they will kick the ball, when they done start moving and do a pancake that way they might go over the ball and you score. faking own goaling: if you are struggling to score, get the ball and move it to your goal, you then want to let the ball move and let it go up, when it does you want to hit it then you get control, that way you score (Also i mean dont hit it up let it roll onto the slope then it goes up past your goal)
Also,for the pancake,you can turn it into a purple shot.You can do this by tilting your car as you would with the pancake,but as your car is in contact with the ball,let go of the joystick and press jump.And there you go :)
I always use the purple shot for my kick off’s, works almost everytime. If you guys haven’t mastered the art of purple and gold shots, I’d hop on that if I were you.
Another way to kick off is aim the car down and spam dash forward which basically does the pancake but with way more force and you can continue to do it with more and more dash’s, that’s what seems to work most of the time for me
i did and still do a kickoff which i would call "the nosetap", i boost myself towards the ball and in the same second where i am about to hit the ball i pull my stick about 45° up, so that the ball will fly over my opponent and gives me a free goal! (ofc not everytime but 80% of the time it works)
I do the default kickoff but with air roll, I flip at the outer line of the circle which causes a flip reset and usually the ball goes up, when the ball goes up most of the time you are also in the air with possession and can air dribble it in or use the flip reset from earlier. If the ball goes down and you go up then you can use your flip to get back down and stop them from scoring

I try to adjust my kick off to whatever catches the opponent off guard then switch whenever they get used to it, i started playing 2 days ago and I'm at platinum. It felt natural to me to learn how to do a kick off before any other basic.
i found one of the best kick offs ever heres what you need to do 1. Enable the boosted jump in the settings 2. Double click joystick to enable air roll 3. Normal boost up to the ball 4. Flip into the ball with boosted jump Ez kickoff win, i went from gold 3 to plat in the same night i figured this out (its alot more iffy in plat) I also recommend using boosted jump for most of your jumps/flips also using air roll threw out the game you will get double the flip resets so always have it enabled :D
Lol, I was gonna comment on how I do my kickoff and then you showed the pancake right when I was about to hit enter. It's the best way to win a kickoff. I usually delay my kickoff too.
A kickoff that works as well that I constantly lost to because of flipping is boosting before you get to the ball then jump with your nose pointed at the ball, no flip required.
In my kick-off I slitty tilt my car up in. In ones when the kick- off is close to the ball you put the pink arrow exactly under the first ball on the wall. In twos just make your car tilt a little. Hoops I just tap the boost jump button really fast. Hope you like it. (Its really reliable, I’ll let you figure out the rest)
I really liked this and it helped me so much, so i found a kickoff that i am conformable with, its just the normal pancake but with the top of my car, or i just point down with it.
One kick off I use is that I flip the car 180 degrees so that the top of my car is facing the ball and if I need to ill press jump to push myself into the ball. And lets say I fail the kick off, all I need to do is put all four wheels on the ground due to me already being flipped 180 degrees. So basically the pancake but flip the car 180 degrees.
Bro this helped so much! It’s like it tripled my skill level and I shatter my opponents’ confidence. The guy was literally setting the ball up for me once I got a +5 lead on him.
An another one(that i found on my own but idk if anyone created that) is a combo of pancake and aggresive 1.You gotta boost all the way (you can start late to confuse him)with your joystick downwards 2.and jump at the end This will create a pancake type of position but you hit with your upper part This wont always work it varies acc to your opp's style of kickoff Edit: In the pancake one you can do the purple shot try it
The kickoff I use is you point the pink arrow down Willie boosting then when your right near the ball move the pink arrow up and it will go over there head but there are some kickoffs that can beat it
I figured that out on my own in 2s and I do it late normally after the opponent flips or another opponent goes to challenge the ball and most of the time it works out fine
If your opponent just runs into the ball with no boost (this usually only works on bronze) just do the same but with boost and if you are in the lower goal map the ball with just go in

A safe kickoff I use is where you just jump up before you hit the ball and it's a decent option

faking own goaling: if you are struggling to score, get the ball and move it to your goal, you then want to let the ball move and let it go up, when it does you want to hit it then you get control, that way you score (Also i mean dont hit it up let it roll onto the slope then it goes up past your goal)
Also,for the pancake,you can turn it into a purple shot.You can do this by tilting your car as you would with the pancake,but as your car is in contact with the ball,let go of the joystick and press jump.And there you go :)

I always use the purple shot for my kick off’s, works almost everytime. If you guys haven’t mastered the art of purple and gold shots, I’d hop on that if I were you.

Another way to kick off is aim the car down and spam dash forward which basically does the pancake but with way more force and you can continue to do it with more and more dash’s, that’s what seems to work most of the time for me
i did and still do a kickoff which i would call "the nosetap", i boost myself towards the ball and in the same second where i am about to hit the ball i pull my stick about 45° up, so that the ball will fly over my opponent and gives me a free goal! (ofc not everytime but 80% of the time it works)

and it still makes me lose kickoffs
My kick-off strategy is ramming into the ball so it goes flying in the air then I boost to the ball hitting it directly to the goal
I do the default kickoff but with air roll, I flip at the outer line of the circle which causes a flip reset and usually the ball goes up, when the ball goes up most of the time you are also in the air with possession and can air dribble it in or use the flip reset from earlier. If the ball goes down and you go up then you can use your flip to get back down and stop them from scoring

I try to adjust my kick off to whatever catches the opponent off guard then switch whenever they get used to it, i started playing 2 days ago and I'm at platinum. It felt natural to me to learn how to do a kick off before any other basic.

I've personally never lost a kickoff when jumping and spamming jump with boosts used to lose a lot before doing this
i found one of the best kick offs ever heres what you need to do
1. Enable the boosted jump in the settings
2. Double click joystick to enable air roll
3. Normal boost up to the ball
4. Flip into the ball with boosted jump
Ez kickoff win, i went from gold 3 to plat in the same night i figured this out (its alot more iffy in plat)
I also recommend using boosted jump for most of your jumps/flips
also using air roll threw out the game you will get double the flip resets so always have it enabled :D

Lol, I was gonna comment on how I do my kickoff and then you showed the pancake right when I was about to hit enter. It's the best way to win a kickoff. I usually delay my kickoff too.
A kickoff that works as well that I constantly lost to because of flipping is boosting before you get to the ball then jump with your nose pointed at the ball, no flip required.

In my kick-off I slitty tilt my car up in. In ones when the kick- off is close to the ball you put the pink arrow exactly under the first ball on the wall. In twos just make your car tilt a little. Hoops I just tap the boost jump button really fast.

I really liked this and it helped me so much, so i found a kickoff that i am conformable with, its just the normal pancake but with the top of my car, or i just point down with it.

One kick off I use is that I flip the car 180 degrees so that the top of my car is facing the ball and if I need to ill press jump to push myself into the ball. And lets say I fail the kick off, all I need to do is put all four wheels on the ground due to me already being flipped 180 degrees. So basically the pancake but flip the car 180 degrees.
In 2’s the best kick of is going straight at the ball so it bounces up and your teammate can go for the Ariel
I usually go with the ball up on the kickoff to the celling and do a celling pinch
Its pretty good if you can pinch
I do a reverse pancake on kickoff but with dominus and when done right you almost always get a goal 👍

I do a change up where I turn as I jump so I get a gold shot. I don't use it every time but it's pretty good for a changeup.

An another one(that i found on my own but idk if anyone created that) is a combo of pancake and aggresive
1.You gotta boost all the way (you can start late to confuse him)with your joystick downwards
2.and jump at the end
This will create a pancake type of position but you hit with your upper part
This wont always work it varies acc to your opp's style of kickoff
Edit: In the pancake one you can do the purple shot try it
What I usually do is a pancake combined with the purple shot and it seems to be working a treat
The kickoff I use is you point the pink arrow down Willie boosting then when your right near the ball move the pink arrow up and it will go over there head but there are some kickoffs that can beat it
I been doing this. Sometimes if you backflip you'll throw it right over them after too.
There is another kickoff where you rotate and jump with boost directly
To the ball and boost continuously. This can counter pancackes

A way to further enhance the pancake is by doing the purple shot when doing the pancake, its super easy to do and it counters your opponent
I figured that out on my own in 2s and I do it late normally after the opponent flips or another opponent goes to challenge the ball and most of the time it works out fine
I’m currently plat 2 in 1s rn and I can confidently say just jumping once with no tilt with the car makes you either neutral or “win” every kick off
diamond 2 and i’m rolling and jumping/ gives u more chance
I know the pancake is good but I find driving straight and jumping without flipping gives the best result.

If your opponent just runs into the ball with no boost (this usually only works on bronze) just do the same but with boost and if you are in the lower goal map the ball with just go in
