I once had an aneurism when dogmeat ran into Minefield after he aggro'ed on Arkansas. I swear, I lost sight of him as I was being pinned down by sniper fire and after every BOOM I was expecting the message that he died. Turns out he ran so fast he tripped the mines but was out of the blast zone when the detonationated.
In Emmets defense, the first time I saw a centaur in fallout 3, I freaked out too. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure I backpedaled while wildly firing my 10mm pistol until I backed up onto the bridge with a thousand mines and blew myself into the stratosphere.
well, it's not exactly like you'd be pushovers, it's just...if we assume that military power of nations is comparable between our and fallout's world, America spends more on its military than the next 20 nations summed. You don't have to suck to lose to that kind of advantage. just realised that comparison doesn't exactly work if you throw in fallout Super-China. Really tho' it probably just means military spending is even more exorbitant on both sides
Breaking news Canada annexed by it's own pair of shoes. Breaking news Canada annexed by it's own basement. Breaking news US annexed it's own hat. Breaking news US annexed it's own attic.
Boy, that place really gives me some bad memories. On my first playthrough I stumbled across that area around lvl 5-6, unaware they were having a super mutant bargain sale there. I refused to retreat and tried to push my way through the mutants. The dumb part? I took cover behind a car while a super mutant was happily sweeping it with a minigun. The dumbest part? I quicksaved about 1 second before the car exploded. Lost quite a bit of progress there xD. Anyway it taught me a very important lesson: Save often, make new save files every time you enter a new area.
I feel ya man. One time I was playing New Vegas which has significantly less loading doors. So after about two hours of wandering, doing a number of quests and using autosave as my only saves, I go through a load door and my game crashes. I was like Okay. That's annoying, have to boot up the game again. No no. It corrupted my autosave. The autosave that was the only save I had been using. The autosave that overwrites all the autosaves before it.
@ProfessionalAsshole that sucks! Speaking of power going out, my xbone recently got bricked after the power company disconnected the electrical meter to do repairs.
Hey Ox. I just wanted to say, I joined the military recently, and after two months of literally no contact with the Real World, this video made my day. So thanks for what you do.
2 months? That makes you either Army or Marine. I'm betting on Army, as the Marines have a 3-month boot camp and don't allow much outside contact at all unless you get injured and end up in the Medical Rehabilitation Platoon. Good for you. Infantry made me what I am today, and I can say that without irony, unlike the chair-bound gentleman in "Starship Troopers". 👍
Fun Fact Oxhorn: When the Enclave start to offically shkw up thanks to thr main quest, that area near the shops can have a Vertibird dropping off 3 Enclave soldiers with plasma rifles just north of Madame Jealle's. They will fight the super mutants there unless they spot you.
TheBlues32 well someone called canada a bowler its more like a baseball cap and alaska is the back of the mullet hawaii is the fart cloud ironically of course
Oxhorn It is really something to see how much this channel has grown and I'm certain it will keep growing more and more on the daily, I've been subscribed for about a year or so now and I've enjoyed every single upload. Keep doing what your doing Ox.
Canuck here. Canadians for my entire life have felt like poor country cousins to the hipper, richer, Americans. Since 2016 however it's been a whole new ballgame. If there's anything we can do to support you in your grief just let us know. We have always been your kinder friendlier neighbour.
When you said "Oh no, a super mutant overlord!!!" I shuddered.... I hate those things.... there's a point when you go from being over powered to being a bullet sponge....
The reason for the pyramid being there is that there was a glass pyramid that had been built in L'Enfant Plaza around 1999 and was there until its demolition in 2013 (5 years after Fallout 3 was released).
"The resource wars have begun, and the World needs an overrated group of ambassadors that has a history of doing nothing to stop brutal wars, now more than ever."
Hey ox I've been watching your channel for awhile. I am a Canadian! I find the american fallout universe to be hilarious. I hope someday there's a Fallout: Canada.
I'm not sure how the french would pronounce it, but for those of us in the DC area L'Enfant Plaza is either "Elephant" or "La font" Plaza. It is named for Pierre Charles L'Enfant who is credited with the "L'Enfant Plan" which was the basis for "Federal City" (later known as the City of Washington, later renamed the District of Columbia, aka Washington DC.) The glass pyramid (similar to the one at the Louvre) located at L'Enfant Plaza was demolished in 2013. Also, the "Capitol Post" is obviously a reference to "the Washington Post".
L'Enfant > L.E.Phant > Elephant. It's how we remembered his name in elementary school. No real idea why they demolished the pyramid, but people always seemed to talk about it as a waste of space or an eyesore. I thought it was cool looking. It was removed as part of some building expansion, so now that space is probably a couple of offices or part of a cubicle farm.
Acid, That's nothing, there's a town called Du Bois but pronounced as "do boys" by everyone there thanks to generations of people ignoring the original pronunciation. I've had a out-of-town friend get lost looking for the "do queens bridge" it was the Fort Duquesne Bridge. there's a lot of places with french origin names around me, but It's kind of a thing that pronunciations can get mangled if you're not used to hearing em, and even some people just can't pronounce the proper names of the places they live in because they've been colloquialized into a different pronunciation over time.
I use a console command to make them essential so they can't die. It's a stupid feature that they're mortal, the other games they aren't (except first 2) and so I don't feel too scummy doing it. It's hard enough keeping myself alive but when Charon goes charging into a herd of mutants it's impossible lol
bosh The super mutant follower you could get (Fawks I think his name was) was near impossible to kill and would eviscerate everything with his Gatling laser.
Don't worry Bosh, the first thing I did upon meeting each of the companions I wanted to use, Dogmeat, Charon, was use console commands to make them essential. And once I get far enough to meet Fawkes and Cross, I'll do the same too.
I got my GOTY version several years back, and mine was bugged. Dogmeat, RL-3 and Fawkes were initially ok but after you level up a couple times with them in your party they gained a ridiculous amount of HP and became almost immortal, unless you nuked them with a MIRV or something. It appears they already patched that though.
Actually, I didn't find myself curious about those metro paths( though I adore such abandoned places), but with you as a story teller it may become a rather exciting journey ;) Keep it up, your stories are amazing
Your videos are one my highlights of the day, they are so frigging relaxing and I learn about all the stuff I missed when playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas ❤️
This is so cool. It was my first time in DC today and I couldn't stop thinking about fallout 3. I went to the Spy Museum (which is awesome btw) which is in L'Enfant Plaza. Sadly, there isn't a giant glass pyramid, but there is a large glass structure which shelters an underground shopping center.
I came into L'Enfant from another subway exit. That area where you came in was full of supermutants and I was being sniped at by one up on that raised walkway. As for Madame's reading room, I would crash there when I was in that area. Cigar was always lit. One night out of boredom I canvased that whole room looking for a secret door to try and find the smoker LOL I even turned off clipping and "phased" through the walls just to be sure there wasn't some Railroad hideout there. And every time I went into the Capitol Post some Gibson attacked me before I could to the computers. He always came up that rubble ramp that leads to the presses. I had to shoot him every time. My game must have been glitched.
As a Canadian I REALLY need a game set in this universe version of Canada. Bet you any amount of money there would be a resistance movement headed by people from Quebec because if any of us would be supper pissed about annexation it would especially be them! There would be so much fascinating lore looking at the relationship between us and the US and their foreign strategies as resource desperation increased in this alternate timeline too!
Second time I didn't get a notification for your video, I've clicked and unclicked and reclicked the bell notification button multiple times, just to make sure I get every single video. I watch every episode, even if I'm not particularly interested. Luckily I was checking just incase and I found this video as I didn't see any message of you missing an upload today on twitter. Still haven't missed a video since the first settlement build ;)
About to that pint-sized slasher: this is pretty similar to that what "happend" at Tranquility lane in vault 112. A child with a clown mask slashes people in a suburb. Maybe it's somehow related to "real" events ("real" means in this case outside of vault 112 so it could be another secret in our beloved Fallout universe). If I remember correctly the lonesome wanderer experienced the memories of these people caught in these VR machines when he was also caught in vault 112. Furthermore there's this newspaper report you found. So I would like to see you go deeper... Sadly there are not even a handfull of clues so its more possible its just a joke from Bethesda. On the other hand Mr. Oxhorn Sir is famous for uncover even the tinest secrets ^^ So who knows...?
the nice thing is if you watch your videos on a regular basis they build on each other in terms of loot gained and abilities...its a welcome change to see progression
only once did i come across this plaza, the DC ruins are a cavernous labyrinth of tunnel networks, branching, dividing, and ultimately confusing everyone who dare to scav them. after all look how long Reilly and her rangers have been at it, and they STILL havent finished by the time the LW comes to help them out of a jam. in any case, 2052 was the beginning of the end for sure, the UN disbanded and the resource wars were about to start, it took 25 years for it to come to a head, and that head was a series of mushroom clouds... on a lighter note i imagine Madame Jeilles was a place where ppl could put on something more comfortable, and pitch their tents as they ogled pictures of beautiful women, how lewdly we will never know, but it was enough that allowed a woman to run a shop and keep it going until the end, without selling herself.
I remember this location... swarmed with Enclave last time I was there, I was doing a modded playthrough as a exploration reconnaissance. I'll tell you, the Chinese assault rifle is no match against 14+ plasma weapons and no backup makes things difficult. Could of gone for some AP rounds.
That's right! And it may not be worth their while either, at least in the real world. Didn't do them a lick of good in the Fallout world either. Frankly, I reckon the US is more likely to destroy themselves than anything else.
As a Canadian, I feel as though the annexation of Canada is one of the most fascinating, yet unexplored pieces of pre-war lore, which is why I am really hoping that there's a fallout game that takes place in Canada, perhaps with the main plot surrounding The Great Game. It's something I've really wanted ever since the end of your Point Lookout series, when Desmond says he would be going far north to go pursue another player. And yes, of course we aren't America's hat. America is Canada's shoes :P
Oxhorn your videos made me want to replay the fallout series (for the 100th time!) and i look forward to your videos everyday, thank you for giving us awesome content!
I would like to understand the thought process of someone who downvotes one of these videos. Oxhorn does such a great job exploring these locations and piecing together the lore behind it. I really can't see a reason.
The pint size slasher sounds like a reference to Rob Zombies Halloween. Michael Myers as a kid dawns a clown mask and stabs his step father in the face after duck taping him to a chair
Also in the middle of the street that goes in all four directions (although some blocked) will have an Enclave vertibird land and drop off troops if I believe either you've met the Enclave in the base game or during/after Broken Steel. One of my favorite cinematic moments as the Enclave fight off Super Mutants.
I don’t know how but all the 8 years I’ve played this game I never seen this place (this is why I love oxhorn because he always finds something cool I missed)
It's fine though, with the DLC Dogmeat has something absurd like 10,000 hp. If you did manage to kill him somehow and have the Puppies perk then his pup has 16,000 hp.
Speaking of the sniper shotgun, I noticed a long time ago that in Fallout 3 the shotgun spread changes even for the PC if you use VATS. If you've got the guns skill and luck to make a long range hit with a shotgun in VATS, all the pellets will hit the targeted body part regardless of range. At least it did on the PS3 version, I never tested it on PC since once I was able to mod I never touched a vanilla gun ever again.
I find it stressful keeping companions alive in FO3. Dogmeat just loves charging at enemies far more powerful than he is.
It's quite easy for me
Its a serious struggle to keep doggomeat from exploding i feel your pain
That's why puppies! Is a good perk if you like to use dogmeat since he just hates being alive

I find the Canadian annexation so funny for some reason
It's funny America thinks we'd be such pushovers :O :O
we'd loose our favorite hat

i have that with macreedy as he is always running away from bloatflys XD
You don't understand, that was a pretty big radroach. It was exactly 1.2 centimeters bigger than the average radroach
It's Steve that's why!

Y does Charon shoot so many shells on your game he doesn't on mine. His shotgun is apparently a machine gun
You have one of the best voices on RUclips
So uhm... Anyone else experience the bug where Gibson resurrects?
Fallout 3 will always be my favorite Fallout because I am from the DMV
Great vid u Deserve 2 Million subscribers

True patience is picking up each cap one by one off the chessboard. Intelligence, however, is realizing selling the chessboard is easier.
"We're Americans, we don't solve our problems with violence..." I audibly laughed at that hahaha.
I remember this location... swarmed with Enclave last time I was there, I was doing a modded playthrough as a exploration reconnaissance. I'll tell you, the Chinese assault rifle is no match against 14+ plasma weapons and no backup makes things difficult. Could of gone for some AP rounds.
I'm french and yes , your prononciation of "l'enfant plaza" is very funny but I love it :-D
Le mister handy sexbot Did I here Pizza?
Le mister handy sexbot hon hon baguette baguette .
Paavan Vyas you forgot about cigarette
So the Plaza is like a mini Divide. The subways are like the missile silo, and the map takes you to a location at it's end.
Charon eating that sniper shot had me cracking up hahaha
That Canadian Annexation article made the maple syrup that runs through my veins boil.
Linksbro naw that's Mexico, the states are our ratty underpants
A fallout game in Canada would make an *amazing* game.
Canada is the shirt, America is the pants. Both are essential, but you know pants are more important.
Leotheleprachaun
Ratty? Dude, most of the country is clean.
I love me some Oxhorn.
Oxhorn your videos made me want to replay the fallout series (for the 100th time!) and i look forward to your videos everyday, thank you for giving us awesome content!
I love listening to these videos to fall asleep. But everytime he has an intense gunfight I get Vietnam flashbacks hahahaha
Hey, I've never seen this place before. I really ought to re-play Fallout 3 at some point - maybe with a few mods to lend it some modernity.
Charon just walking into that headshot lmao
I would like to understand the thought process of someone who downvotes one of these videos. Oxhorn does such a great job exploring these locations and piecing together the lore behind it. I really can't see a reason.
The pint size slasher sounds like a reference to Rob Zombies Halloween. Michael Myers as a kid dawns a clown mask and stabs his step father in the face after duck taping him to a chair
And again I am left in awe by his commentary......
Oxhorn u are awesome!
‘Little America is ours’ *eagle screeches overhead*
I just started fallout 3 a few weeks ago and you have helped me so much and helped me learn so much
Also in the middle of the street that goes in all four directions (although some blocked) will have an Enclave vertibird land and drop off troops if I believe either you've met the Enclave in the base game or during/after Broken Steel. One of my favorite cinematic moments as the Enclave fight off Super Mutants.
I don’t know how but all the 8 years I’ve played this game I never seen this place (this is why I love oxhorn because he always finds something cool I missed)
As a Canadian, let me just say: COME AT ME BRO ... no, wait! I’m sorry. Please don’t hurt us, we don’t have much oil, honest!
When you take French classes but still can't understand location names.
Yup lol
In my play through i just collected all the weapons i could find
Just a tiny nitpick, the toolbox isn't red, it's red because of mods, usually it's grey/brown and rusty.
I don't remember ever seeing that pyramid before. Just goes to show that there is always something new to find
Ah, the pyramid. Brings back memories. The La Promenade pyramid skylight was removed in 2013 as part of renovations.
15:40 That's a really nice looking gun, i wonder why didn't i get that on my playthrough :D
I want this guy to read me books, I love his voice
"I don't want to hit one and kill them" 30 seconds earlier "Critical hit on Dogmeat, Critical hit on Dogmeat, Critical hit on Dogmeat"
