  • In this video I'm showing how I untangle matted fur behind my Pomeranian dog's ears.
Busia's fur is always getting matted behind her ears. This is not because of her harness or collar (and we don't use a collar), because her fur was matted even when we didn't go outdoors al all (so no harness was used).
I think that mats behind her ears are just something like a feature for my Pomeranian dog's coat.
At first untangling matted Pomeranian fur at home seems extremely difficult or even impossible. Indeed it takes a lot of time to untangle the mats, and it is also necessary to teach the dog to wait patiently while the fur is detangled. Usually Pomeranians have thick double coats, so even simple brushing without dematting can turn out to be rather time-consuming. When a Pomeranian dog is brushed regularly the dog is likely to get used to it quickly.
At first is was very difficult to calm her down to brush her, and it was challenging even for the most experienced groomers. But then she got used to it. And now I easily brush and untangle her fur myself at home. It is still time-consuming, but it takes less time then taking her to the groomer. And there's no need to make an appointment in advance, I can always fit taking care of my dog's coat into my schedule.
