those uco candle housings are great. but buy the real bees wax candles. no soot form the flame. and will not melt in your back pack. ( summer heat thing).
the uv5r and such radios are HAM radios, you need a fcc issued permit for such. but can be programed for not legal use ( fcc rules thing) for gmrs channels. the gmrs permit is only a money thing. the ham permit involves a simply test + the money. but by law, anyone can transmit are any of the above in a real emg .
that is not a power station. it does not make power. it only stores it. it is a lifepo4 BATTERY. with a small inverter. great for doing a ham radio. but bad for back packing.
sound does not travel faster than light. ever a good flash light can be seen 10’s of miles away. where sound would never be heard. a good whistle is great fir emg use. but a better thing is a good strong flashlight.
a .357 or.44mag is a far better way to stop a bear. but prevention is better. do not have any aromatic foods in your pack. have and use a tall hiking staff. be in a group if people, and get real bear spray in the LARGER cans. those palm sized are a joke.
