You can also steam and then block with a knitter’s blocking board and pins. It’ll dry larger and (usually) more uniform.

Great tip, I have a new hat that you can't buy anymore but it's too small- the last one stretched and broke the embroidered logo so I'm going to try to stretch this one first by hand- would a handheld steamer work too?
