  • In this video I talk about what I learned on my social media break. this video is about my health. Some how I got very allergic to something in my hotel room, leaving me covered in hives and short of breath. I realized things like this (allergy attacks, shortness of breath, stomach issues, etc) are happening too often and I've been ignoring how my body really feels. I need to figure out whats going on to get my health in a better place.

@@leelee2350 She made a full recovery! She didn’t even know she had it. Thought it was a really bad sinus infection then the hives hit and she got tested and there it was. My five Y/O got it 8 months later and his blotchy skin is how we knew. Pretty much his only symptoms and didn’t just walk through it, he ran through it! We have had it 3 times now in the house and I have yet to get it. It’s so weird!

Heyy friendly nurse here 👋 this is an EXTREMELY NORMAL response to illness. There is nothing wrong with your response to this stressor and I do believe taking that leap to get a full work up will ease your mind. You do HARD stuff all the time, you can do this. The unknown is scarier than the known, promise! It could be much less than you have worked up in your mind! And if it is as bad as you think, you will gain POWER over what's going on. Good luck, I have loved you for years and years ❤️ sorry for the issues in the medical system 😔please don't listen to the internet

Oh, one more thing. If you end up with one of those doctors that dismiss you due to weight, you get up, walk out and call another one. This is your life and you fight for it. Personally, I have found that most female doctors are so much more in tune with us women and don;t blame weight.

Thank you SO so so so much for sharing this. I was in tears watching this because I relate so much. I'm so proud of you and hope you're able to find some answers. I have lipedema as well and that comes with a whole slew of other issues, including digestive, circulatory, skin, and even psychological issues too in some cases, so juggling all that has been wild but oddly affirming. There is still such little widely known research done on lipedema and the few doctors who are even aware of it are still actively trying to understand the complexities of the disease and how it affects our entire system so that in itself is a battle as well. I'm rooting for you! I'm right there with ya ♡

You can do this! If you have an illness , the more you know about it, the better you can deal with it mentally, emotionally, physically- all ways. Sometimes the most upsetting, disturbing thing is not knowing and worrying usually about the worst case scenario. Anna , you are not your body. You are not your thoughts. You are not your illness. You are a being of light and love and energy. You are never alone for God is always there for you. Pray to him and you will see this to be true. I have my own chronic autoimmune issues (multiple) and I just pushed through until I couldn’t any more. My quality of life is better for having gotten help and I wish I’d gotten it sooner. I wish you the same luck and know that I feel you and understand. For me “couldn’t anymore” landed me in the hospital near death. I’m glad you are overcoming your fear sooner than I did. Anna, I haven’t gone through some of the things you’ve had to deal with. I do fully understand the fear related to your size. I’ve had drs that focus on my weight. I’ve either found a different dr or worked thru the weight discussion with more open drs. In the long run I’ve found the knowledge helps reduce the fear. You’ll at least know what you’re dealing with and able to make a plan. I go to the dr with a list symptoms (along with when the symptoms occur) and a list of questions. Just writing it down helps organize your thoughts and can guide a discussion. If the dr doesn’t listen, you’re seeing the wrong dr. Being prepared helps you and the dr determine where to start diagnosing your your problem.
I really believe knowledge is power. I’ve even gone online to watch a surgery that I knew needed to be done (shoulder replacement). Just make sure you review the credentials of the dr/ surgeon ( search resources for info about the drs background, training and any reviews. Also ask friends or any nurse you may know). Use websites that are reputable.

I feel this so much. I am pretty much in the same boat when it comes to going to the Dr. My Dr is amazing and she doesn't dwell on my weight too much but I have such a fear of going because every time I go it seems like they find something else wrong. I haven't had my medications filled in the last six months because fear kicked in and I canceled my Dr appointments in June and just haven't gone back. I know I should go. I know I need to go. But I also know I've gained 20lbs. And I know my medical issues that I want to ignore are still present. The thought of going to a Dr and getting a weigh in and blood work and pap results just scares the living hell out of me. So I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm sorry you're suffering but I'm proud of you for doing something I can't even bring myself to do. I'm hoping, praying and crossing my fingers that the Dr you decide on is absolutely amazing and will help you with a PROPER diagnosis. Ignore the "DM doctors" they might mean well but they aren't licensed to diagnose you. Good luck love!

Just keep in mind that allergies can lead to severe chronic illness. My dust mite allergies led to adult asthma, eczema and stomach problems, and deadly anaphylaxis if I take anti-inflammatories. It's not "just" allergies. Allergies are serious, but they are also very treatable, and you can easily help reverse a lot of the problems they cause. It really does sound like you might have allergy issues and you just need to get tested and treated properly. On the plus side, allergy testing is kinda interesting and fun. Good luck!!!

    • @libbyhenderson489
      @libbyhenderson489 2 года назад +5

This right here! ^^ Also, keep in mind that some thing aren't "allergies" per se, as they don't cause a histamine reaction. You can also have a body that "reacts" to certain things. I get crazy congestion with a meal, or in the wind, or when exposed to smoke, or dust. Tested negative to every allergy. Doc comes in and says "well, you have Vasomotor Rhinitis." I asked him what that was and he says "well, you are easily irritated." Um, ok, but what does that have to do with my sinuses?! But, it makes sense. My body is hyper reactive to those things without it being a histamine reaction. Recently, I've discovered I'm reactive to two incredibly common ingredients -- Sodium Laurel Sulfate in soap and toothpaste, and Xanthum Gum, or any similar thickener. And that stuff is EVERYWHERE. If I use a toothpaste with SLS, my entire mouth will blister. If I use a shampoo with it, my skin itches on my back particularly, and we aren't even going to talk about the reaction I had when I used the wrong soap on more sensitive areas! I basically had to test for those reactions myself because my doctors just said "Um, wow." So, I did an elimination test and found products that are safe. Our bodies change as we grow older, and I've found that having Covid has made many of my reactions worse, because my immune system has stayed on fire. Best of luck finding a diagnosis and thank you for sharing your journey!

Anxiety is always the biggest hurdle, but you've conquered that so that is great. When I have concerns about my body (I've been gratefully lucky to have good physicians, the ones I didn't click with I moved on) I mention my weight first to get it out there, and then discuss the major concerns. This way you bring it up and not them, you're in the driver's seat they are there to assist. Honestly I wish I knew where in Texas my old physician I had a few years ago moved back to...she was amazing. But I hope you find the best fit for you.

I think deep down as big people we feel guilty for being big and that being our weakness. I get it bc that’s me. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder in 2019. Prior to that I had gone through periodic episodes of hives that seemed to come and go without reason. Honestly, I was scared it was cancer (thinking the worst) but it wasn’t. For me, I’m grateful to know the reason and I’m receiving medication for it. So it doesn’t have to be the end of the world- it could be a step towards not only feeling better but understanding and giving yourself more grace bc of it. Hang in there! Prayers you get some answers and peace.

I can relate to the way you are thinking. I recommend a good counselor that can help you understand the way you are thinking and that's it's a normal response to how you grew up with chronically ill relatives. There's a big gap between feeling kind of crappy due to our weight and a chronic disease. Being bigger does ultimately impact the way we feel. The older we get it makes an impact. But these are things that can be treated. Try to take that first step to find out what exactly you have going on. You may just need a medicine that will help while you work on getting a bit healthier. Nothing needs to happen tomorrow. It's a slow path. I get ya, girl.

Girl I have been there!y family has always been sickly. I wasn't. I mentally wouldn't allow it. But pain was there center of my life. My mom finally got the diagnosis. Celiacs disease. And what a game changer. We all took gluten and grains and dairy out of our lives. It is the hardest thing to ever do but I feel like a million bucks when I eat right. When I cheat I have pain, stomach issues, anxiety, heart problems, breathing problems, skin rashes, blisters, and peeling. Depression sets in, insomnia and then I get back on and it takes couple days and I am on track again. Don't listen to everyone. Get to the Dr and get with yourself. Listen to what your heart is saying. And if you don't like your Dr try a another. I went to one office and tried 3 before I found the most amazing Dr. He is not serious about bull crap and more about the person. Good luck girl and sending so much love and strength. You are an inspiration to so many and you will continue to be. You have dealt with everything else and this will also be just another hurdle. Love you ❤️

Worst thing is not knowing... pretending is very demanding, damaging!!! Knowledge takes time and courage... you are the best reason to turn yourself into motion, emotion and most of all into your innermost salvation!!! Wish you the very best... take very good care of you!! Xx

The first step is always the hardest. I know there are emotional things from your past that you are also working through, and as someone who has been through a similar journey, I can't stress enough just how emotional pain is held by the body - it often is converted to physical problems until we can get to the point where we can process through our emotional pain. The physical pain is the body telling us that it can't hold the emotional pain anymore and that it is time to heal.
Highly recommend the book "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel Van Der Kolk!
Integrative and Functional MDs do the best job of getting to the bottom of issues and truly listening.
On a totally different note, for what it's worth - I don't know what the deal is with New Mexico, but I always physically feel like complete garbage when I visit there! Migraines, hard to breathe, altered consciousness. I have stayed 4 times in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos, all four times were weird experiences. I now try to avoid staying in NM at all costs when I am driving cross-country!

    Aw🥺
You have my support ! You have made a difference in my life. I have had hives for three years but because I won't get allergy testing again, can't get diagnosed and suffer. I'm sorry you're going through what you're going through. It is scary. I understand 💗
I am constantly itching and can assure you, it is not from my weight. Your hives likely are due to other issues, not your weight. ❣️ My stomach goes berserk when I travel. Gut issues, happens to a lot of people. I had to live off of immodium, just so I could eat when I was in Jamaica for a week.
You are so beautiful and such a strong person. You can do this ! Does it help you to know you're giving other people confidence ? I'm afraid of my dr. He keeps sending me letters to come see him 😩🙄 you are a good influence. If you go, I might think about going, too.
    Sending love,
    Steph.

My heart is broken for you. You're strong. It's scary but you'll do what you need to do. You're in my thoughts. I was going through the same thing. Turns out I had an extreme iron deficiency. I get 8 hour infusions but I feel sooooo much better and I can finally sleep. It was a simple blood work panel.

It’s scarier to not know what is wrong. I’m sorry Anna that your trip didn’t go as planned but there was obviously a reason. If you don’t have a dr, I’m in Austin and highly recommend Dr. Darren Geyer at Premier Family Physicians. He is so thorough and kind and does not shame you about weight. He’s very understanding. I have been going to him for years and my daughter about your age goes to him and my husband. He is awesome!

Adding my support to the chorus here. And adding my own things. ....Please feel free to TELL all of the medical people that you are anxious and scared. Don't be embarrassed or shy. Repeat as necessary. Know that this time before you have definitive answers will continue to be scary and that's okay. You aren't alone.
    WE CARE.
Please update when you can. 🙏💛

You know you are so awesome. As a big woman I feel you. For years I eat and throw up. This last year it got to a point were my life was horrible. I am like you scared to go to the Doctors do to my weight and stuff. But I pulled up my big girl panties and started going. Come to find out I have a hiatal hernia and have to have surgery. I am scared as shit!!! In order to fix that and other stuff i pretty much have to do a whole bypass. So I know your fear. Hang in there. The only thing to fear is fear itself. You got this hugs

It is ok to listen to your body. It is ok to rest. It is ok to be not ok. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. My body attacks itself. The one thing I have learned, and it took a very long time, it is ok to be not ok. The most important thing is to see a Dr and talk to them. Tell them how you feel. Be completely open and honest. Hugs and so much love sent to you.

This made me cry I hope you feel better. I have cerebral palsy I'm very tight borderline of being in pain I was on muscle relaxers for years my body got used to it so I got off them now that's not much they can do for me. I've tried Botox that didn't help there's another muscle relaxer but it will affect my memory most likely and I don't want to put up with that I'm only 31. It's frustrating because not many people understand
