This is one of the greatest live performances ever. Queen didn't need dancers, backup vocalists or invited artists onstage, they could entertain thousands in the audience on their own all around the world, Freddie's voice, stage presence and crowd control took everything and the musical talent of the band members was amazing.
If you want to see Queen at their finest, watch Queen at Live Aid 1985. Even though Freddie had laryngitis the week before the concert, they blow everyone else away with their performance.
Can’t wait to see your reaction to Freddie in this live performance. I always tell young musicians that I used to teach, that this video is a masterclass on how to be a rock performer…….If you want to watch two of the most beautiful love songs written by Freddie…check out You Take My Breath Away (Hyde Park 1976) and Love of My Life (Rock Montreal 1981). I have been a Queen fan since the beginning in 1973… I was 17 when Queen 1 came out!
Freddie did absolutely have an amazing, powerful, passionate voice and unmatchable stage presence ! *The band as individuals are all very talented multi-instrumentalists. *Brian (guitar) and Roger (drums) both have very good voices in their own right as well. *John (bassist) rarely contributed any vocals ;only in Live situations in a very limited manner - never contributed to the vocals in-studio. - he did not like his own voice and publicly admitted “I can’t sing” in more than one interview. *As individuals, they were all VERY good musicians and songwriters- TOGETHER, the sum was greater than the parts. They brought out the best in each other. QUEEN IS LEGENDARY !
You are right about Freddie's astonishing voice. Even scientific study confirms Freddie Mercury had an unparalleled singing voice. That what makes his voice so special was extremely fast vibrato 7.04 Hz and subharmonics. He was able to create several more layers of harmonics than anyone else. Freddie was using a subharmonics by vibrating his ventricular folds, a technique usually found only in Tuvan throat singers. One of the conclusions from the studies was that "Mercury was vibrating something in his throat that even Pavarotti couldn't move and that kind of creates a very typical vocal fingerprint"
it is important to have seen their complete set (20 minutes) at the LIVE-AID concert 1985 ... about 90.000 people in the stadium, about 1.5 billion (billion, not million) people watching live on TV. it is considered the greatest stage performance in history.
The beauty of Queen…everyone was invited to the party. They didn’t give a F about your religion, color, sexuality, etc. I’ve carried this song with me for decades I’ll bring it with me for the rest of my life. A couple Queen recommendations, ‘Another one bites the dust’, ‘Who wants to live forever’ and ‘We will rock you’.
Greatest reaction EVER. They were THE Greatest Vocalist ever. And THE Greatest guitarist ever. And THE Greatest drummer ever. And THE Greatest bassist ever. You’ll never be let down by ANY of their performances. And Freddie’s stage presence makes it even better. Even when he was advised not to sing because of a sore throat, he went in and blew the roof off!!
Freddie was a God. He had it all. Just an amazing human being. Love the reaction! Check out “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Love of My Life” and “Save Me” live all from the same concert in Montreal. And “Under Pressure” live at Wembley. You really can’t go wrong with ANY Queen, especially the live performances. They truly were better live. No auto tune or technology helping them. Just raw talent. Not to mention his stage presence and sex appeal (to BOTH genders). All 4 guys were extremely talented and together they were like nothing no one has ever seen or will ever see again!
what makes queen and freddie different from everyone else is they actually had pure talent and the put the fans and music first allways...i mean back in the 80's before autotune and to sound as good as this Live........ it's just insane.
Scientists have even studied his voice because of the ranges he could hit from deep throat singing right up to almost the top of a soprano and all with such POWER behind it. He could jump from a bottom note to a top note skipping all the notes in between with ease, he did not need to work his way up to it. He was amazing, and I have not found anyone that can even come close to his talent in singing yet, at least in my opinion. It's his capability of all ranges that keeps him at the top, because there are singers that can give him a run for his money in certain ranges, like Steve Perry, very powerful singer but he was a soprano, he couldn't just drop down to a tenor, where Freddie would have the edge there too...lol
That was a brilliant reaction...Queen touches your soul..and yes, everyone feels so good after seeing performances from the gods of all genres of music 🤩
It's Montreal, but Queen At Wembley... The whole concert is amazing, full of energy and great natural music without headphones, voice effects and other sounds. Just a pure and natural concert of talent. Thank You!
You have to do every Queen song live , or you’ll be missing out . I have been one of the number one fans for Forty years . If you choose to go down this rabbit hole , All of us Queenies will be with you💕
Although the live versions are all great a lot of them lose some of the lyrics and great effects they were able to achieve, and all the later videos are works of art in themselves.
Start with some early Queen and you can see how talented they were as a band even in the beginning. Always changing and building on their talents their music was always on point. Maybe start with Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow or White Queen a night at the Odeon 1975. Looking forward to future reactions!
With show time approaching, towels and drinks for the band’s refreshment on stage would now be strategically placed: water and beer for Fred, beer for Brian and Roger and the Backstage Bar for John, comprising water, beer, soft drinks, wine and whatever spirit or cocktail he fancied at the time: Southern Comfort, vodka or tequila. - Peter Hince (aka Ratty), Fred’s and John’s roadie and head of Queen’s crew.
Freddie indeed had one of the best voices in rock history. All four of the musicians were brilliant, they all wrote wonderful songs, and they worked together so well. Nobody else like Queen. Theatrical rock at its very best.
Yes he does have the best voice. In fact Freddie is often ranked in the top three (#1 a lot) of all time with other Rock greats, Pop greats, name the genre. The voice is an instrument and nobody played it better than Freddie.
Brian May, the guitar player, and his father BUILT his home made guitar that he uses. Wood from the fire mantle, the whammy bar is a knitting needle. Its a one of a kind guitar. A singularly unique sound. AND....he uses a COIN as a guitar pick. Not the usual plastic. It provides THE Queen sound.
QUEEN Was, is, always will be one of The Elite! Brian May's Unmistakable Guitar Sound! And the Late Great FREDDIE MERCURY as a Front man just made them Legends! 🎶 But SERIOUSLY Man!! When we gonna See the Zeppelin reactions Again!?? Peace, & Love ✌️
Freddie Mercury once wrote his debut solo song in the 80's called "Love Kills". I doubt that anyone has heard this. So worth a listen...that voice! Please don't let songs like this fade into the ether. Give it a listen!
Thank you Zay 🎶👑🎶 If you have a next time for Queen,.. you won’t be disappointed with: “Under Pressure” 1985 Live at Wembley and/or “Don’t Stop Me Now” 1978 Official live 🙏Thx , You rock !!
I never listened to much Queen, it wasn't my style, I liked the heavier and darker stuff. But Queen has a positivity and uplifting feel to their music that I think I may have been missing. Just like in life, you ought to try to surround yourself with people that uplift you.
Very true, but Queen covers every mood, genre and emotion. If you want dark and heavy listen to early Queen like 'Liar' , 'Death On Two Legs' 'The Prophet's Song' or 'Ogre Battle'
Queen is always amazing! Love them and enjoy pretty much anything they’ve come out with. Still recommend checking out Led Zeppelin live at Madison Square performing “Since I’ve been loving you”. Know you’ve done the album version but as you said, live is just a completely different experience.
I keep coming back to this. I love watching you react to Freddie & Queen! For some beautiful love songs…try Love of My Life live and You Take My Breath Away (live at Hyde Park). Both are short and you could do them together!
This show, the Christmas show of the bohemian rhapsody tour, and live aid of course are my three favorite shows of theirs. My favorite of theirs is Flick of the Wrist or stone cold crazy.
You will not find a more charismatic front man🤴than Freddie Mercury 🎤 Roger Taylor drums & vocals, Brian May lead guitar & vocals & John Deacon on bass 🔥🎸 Check out “Stone Cold Crazy, One Vision, The Show Must Go On, Hammer To Fall or one of my personal favorites, “I Want It All” ♥️
If you get a chance to listen to News to the World album...Listen to it ten times in a row...Or, Queen II...Those are the best representatives of how great Queen is...Naturally, Night at the Opera is no slouch...Fan for decades...
A couple of live performances you mustn't miss, from Freddie's earlier, long-haired phase, are: White Queen - Live at Hammersmith You Take My Breath Away -Live at Hyde Park Each astonishing and beautiful in its own way. Also, I highly recommend you take a look some time at the Official Video that goes with Bohemian Rhapsody, even if you don't want to do another reaction to it here. It's one of the first music 'videos' (although on film, originally) to be made, and the visuals, which simulate a live performance, definitely add to that dramatic/operatic vibe you were getting from it. There are real live performances of it out there, but they can't fully reproduce what's on the record, so this is one of very few instances with Queen where the original audio is probably better than any live performance.
Freddie wrote this song for someone he loved so much. It was a tribute to the great Aretha Franklin. I just wished back in the day they could have done a duet together. Maybe they did. Only gospel song Queen sang. Others were similar but not like this. Freddie bore his soul for this song. Queen on a higher level. If you get a chance check out Marc Martel. Trust me we lost an legend when Freddie passed away but Marc brought it back to life.
Queen were the very first rock band inducted into the songwriters hall of fame, all members had hit singles. That in itself is very rare. I suggest you go from the beginning, start from Album No1, the first time we all heard them for the first time. :)
Queen is the band and should be listened to audio or video first. Live shows are Freddy. This SONG in one of first video for the time must be reviewed. You hear the gospel more. This SONG was for Aretha Frankin.
Queen is one of the few recording artists I enjoy seeing live but the true magic happens in the studio. Try their album version of You Take My Breath Away. It blows away the live version by far!
@@johnandrews3151 I prefer it, he sings it beautifully and for me it has the emotion the studio version looses a bit although it's still there it just doesn't have the same effect for me
That's fine. To each his own. Some people perfer concerts, some people perfer studio. I personally perfer studio, however Queen is definitely among the greatest live!
Freddie Mercury had one of the most recognisable voices in pop and rock history. But just how good was the frontman's vocal power? While Freddie's speaking voice fell in the baritone range, he delivered most songs in the tenor range. His known vocal range extended from bass low F (F2) to soprano high F (F6).
A group you really need to hear is STYX - they have 2 different outstanding lead vocals, they have one of the top ranked guitarists in the world and have dozens of top 10 songs a more than a few #1s first song I would recommend is called Renegade..., it will rock your socks off!
You have a GREAT ear! Freddie Mercury (RIP) is definitely regarded as one of the greatest voices in rock history. Another great voice of mention is Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. Queen actually asked Paul to tour with them for a while, post Freddie. Please check out Bad Company live, early 2000s, 30 years after their initial fame. Paul Rodgers has amazing chops. Enjoy!
Great reaction, thanks! Subbed with the hope you will do more Queen. I suggest Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974 and White Queen live at Hammersmith 1975 (original video).
If you thought that was upbeat - watch 'Don't stop me now'. I think that one was voted the song that makes people feel happiest in some survey or other. : D
one of Freddies No 2 UK he appreciated the success of his song Bo rap No 1 but thought this was a better song he adored Aretha Franklin and wanted a gospel vibe which is more evident in the studio version with their harmonies
WHITE QUEEN, live at the Hammersmith Odeon...an amazing early song vocal and instrumentation...so many great songs...the Live Aid concert, the best rock performance in rock music history...get to know Queen better before you do it...LOVE OF MY LIFE, live at Wembley is slightly better than in Montreal (because of the crowd)
It’s really hard it’s because the group is so great we have for phenomenal writers the greatest front man ever in music I will see even better than Elvis and they were able to do anything and with Freddy being able to control an audience like no other man he only has about 35 to 40 songs that you probably might’ve heard you might not know it but the songs are being used all the time and movies TV and commercials
Roger kills the drums on this whilst singing a beautiful backing vocal. A fantastic performance from the whole band.
There will never be another Freddie or Queen they are the best of the best.
