I passed by you Saturday 7/25/20. You were westbound on Hwy4 past Copperopolis while I was eastbound. I saw the OB rig coming and was like, “Oh, there goes Michael. Wonder what kind of trip he’s coming back from.” Now I know. 🤙🏼 OB #9241.
Gday mate cruises the 80 also in Australia just bought a camper trailer love it looks like big foot country he may be able to hold your go pro awsome clip mate cheers to ya
That was pretty hardcore and I know this because rarely do I cringe behind the screen.. I've been waiting for this upload though and it delivered.. I second the campsite! Freaking awesome.
Hey Mikey, I thought you would have whipped up a batch of your special "Double Secret Stickem Stuff". Several pieces of well used bubble gum, Some "Gorilla Glue" Old "Duct Tape" "Pine Sap" and the secret ingredient. One of your old socks, all mixed together. You know the formulation is just right. When an errant mosquito, flies by and face plants into the ground. Then you slather a bunch on the piece to be reattached and stick it back on. Praying that it works. Pun intended. Cheers, Mate.
Damn Michael, that’s really pushing it hard for both rigs. I just got back from running Deer Valley and it has some challenge as well but more doable that what I see in the last obstacle.
Michael, I understand that you air down for a more comfortable ride and better grip, but would it be better to keep the tires fully pumped to get max clearance in such rocky terrain? With 35” you are loosing at least 4” in some cases. I have 33” and try to keep them fully pumped++ when riding on boulders. Worst case you loose some fillings. :) Hope we get to do this together one day. Cheers.
Oh man - for me I would prefer to take the 3 or 4 hard bumps than run full pressure on those rocks - not for comfort - for traction. I'd be slipping and sliding. Hard to see in the vid, but there is a fine layer of dust on almost everything. Even walking across them was dangerous. It is a careful tradeoff.
What’s the reasoning behind putting such a hard gate keeper when the rest of the trail is moderate. Are they trying to stop normal 4x4 using the trail..
The other end of the trail has the waterfall. Also very difficult. So now each end of the trail is difficult. Idk if this was on purpose or just necessary to get around the private property without removing trees.
No it wasn't. How the F k you guys gonna get out of there.. Fun Stuff.. Glade it was your trucks not mine.. Look like you guys had a Blast.. Loved it..
Dave, you have Mad Hatters in Livermore and Rail Town Off Road 4x4 Club in Tracy. Right now every body is running meetings on Zoom and keeping a low profile on FB. Post fir runs are after the fact.
Michael, you’re not fooling anyone. We all know darn well that you’re creating damage on purpose just so you can justify geting the new Ford bronco LOL LOL LOL. You’re not fooling us ha ha
I was thinking the same as soon as I saw the title of the video pop up in my notifications 😂. But still, a damaged fender flare would be enough to get a new Bronco lol. I definitely would like to take my 93' Bronco on that trail one day!
Instead of taking “routes” like that I suggest you take a sledgehammer to your trucks. That doesn’t look like something any sane person would do on purpose.
I am very disappointed in this video and what the overland community has become. This video had nothing to do with overlanding but everything to do with rock crawling there is a big difference. Just my opinion.
Wah dude! Just don't go on those specific trips then. Some of us prefer challenging our rigs, ourselves and seeing those parts of nature those trails offer.
He started out talking about that and that the spots he wanted to get to required it. I think it’s great to go have an experience and an adventure. You can still do that on the freeways but this is also fun!
dude, relax.. a previous video that was brought up and this was a side adventure to Enjoy a location Michael has fond memories of, prior to the trail being rerouted. Yes, This was rock crawling and not typical Overlanding, but Adventure is necessary, and sometimes its hard to get to those sweet spots.
I’m just saying The Overland community has become nothing but a money market with fancy trucks that cost a lot of money and fancy gear that most people don’t need. I have been to two Overland Expo’s and saw nothing but vendors selling expensive modifications to peoples expensive toys. We forgot about the true meaning of seeking adventure. I consider myself a full-time Overlandor living in an old Jeep Cherokee with very little modifications. Seeking adventurous it’s about getting out of your comfort zone and exploring The unknown with what you have.
Over the hill and Over the mountain I can respect that! You'd definitely need to highly modify your rig to get through trails like that. But I find it worth it and I'm grateful that i have ability to venture those trails too.
That trail is officially off my 4Runners bucket list!
Hahaha - good!
In the cycling world we call taking an inadequate bike for a trail "UNDERBIKING"...maybe call this "Underlanding" 🤣
I’m going to switch to using this as my standard reply to the “aluminum skids should be fine right?” questions...

Great job showing the overland community you don't have to stick to the bunny slopes. Awesome!
That transition with the tree was exquisite
ah man, you noticed!
Gday mate cruises the 80 also in Australia just bought a camper trailer love it looks like big foot country he may be able to hold your go pro awsome clip mate cheers to ya
Looks like a trail I'll never run!! Thanks for taking one for the team.
Off my bucket list too..My wife would be having major anxiety.
Great freaking footage!!!! Out this two very capable vehicles I would definetly stick to the land cruiser.
That was pretty hardcore and I know this because rarely do I cringe behind the screen.. I've been waiting for this upload though and it delivered.. I second the campsite! Freaking awesome.
Thanks for the Great video! looking forward to part 2. 👍
I love the tree swipe transitions!
;)
8:19 8:56 Very slick transitions. Nicely done Brother!
Thank you! Great shots by @socialpants
Actual wheeling video. I love it. 😁
Watched this video this morning, ended up working next door to the guy with the Tacoma 😂
Haha - Nick is a great dude.
Hmm what I'm seeing in this video is it sounds like it's time for 4.88 gears...
Oh wait until the NEXT video :)

That Factor55 flatlink damage hurt me...
Talk about hell of a ride!
That happened to me twice in my 80 and I said, “screw it no more fender flares!”
Glad I did research and didn’t attempt this trail on my 4runner with no lockers and 265s ..
I have to say I'm impressed! I guess the winch will be useful for coming back !
Really great to see you out on the trail again.
Thank you sir. I appreciate that. It's good to be out.
Well that was fun, like any landing you can walk away from you still drove home so that’s a win
I did slick rock in my FJ Cruiser. Video on my channel. It was smooth sailing all the way through. Short wheelbase probably helped
Great! Been waiting for new videos!💪💪💪
Anytime you need another Tacoma on these trips... I’m in sonoma! Would love to join!
Damn Michael, that’s really pushing it hard for both rigs. I just got back from running Deer Valley and it has some challenge as well but more doable that what I see in the last obstacle.
Thanks for the great content. Cool video.
That looks like an awesome trip!
That was rough!
Wow what a trail. good call on the trail building. and some great spotting. don't think I would risk my Trekker on that one.:)
This video is just amazing. Great job.
I like that editing transition at 8:19. That was smooth
No judgment, but that is not my idea of fun. Glad you had a good time. I just don’t think my adrenal glands are up for it!
All I was saying was: "ouch, ouch, ouch, and more ouch"!!
Michael, you coulda had a V-8, dang it!!👍
Great footage 💪🏻
Great shots and camera work by @socialpants
That was like a black diamond lol! Good run tho Mike!
Wow this trail was a gnarly one
Edit: and one helluva beautiful campsite
lol! well, how are ya gonna know your limits, if ya don't test 'em once in a while?! 🤷♂️
Yeah I'd say this is more a solid axle rock crawler trail rather than a overland rig.
Great editing. 8:19 was awesome!
would love to see a full size truck go through there, good vid
I've been considering 35s. I've been considering 37s. :D
Man I was there the same weekend!
did you do that trail yesterday? I think I saw you getting on hwy4 behind me. Btw I met you in angels camp few weeks ago as well ..
Awesome Rex! We got back Thursday.
Wow. Glad you made it with everything that matters still operable! A bit much for my WJ on 31s, so I'll skip this one lol. #18747
I have a WJ on 33's with a 4 inch lift
Won't be trying that with my 3" lifted XJ on 31's. Good video though.
ouch
How did you touch it?

If you dont have to winch, the trail isnt that hard. 😅🤣🤣

To play with Jeeps, ya need a jeep🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha I was thinking 'that looks like so much fun for my jeep!' XD
This was not the full trail right? I thought there was more than just 3 main obstacles
Yeah that's just half way. Looks like a part two will be coming.
Part 2 soon!
Michael, I see you’re based out of Dublin. I’m in Livermore. Are there any groups or 4x4 clubs out here?
Dave, you have Mad Hatters in Livermore and Rail Town Off Road 4x4 Club in Tracy. Right now every body is running meetings on Zoom and keeping a low profile on FB. Post fir runs are after the fact.
Overland Bound! There are also a number of local clubs for specific areas - for example, the Joaquin Jeepers maintains the trail we were on.
Thanks guys! I just joined a few months ago, I am member 22702. I’ll check those options out.
What shell is on that tacoma?
Nick will need to answer. He'll probably jump on the comments.
@@OverlandBound cool thanks
ARE Overland. It’s a very pricy shell. I got it used.
@@niclucca7104 cool thanks
Not for me. My taco sticks to easy.
I love challenges and technical passes on the trail, but this is just too much in my opinion, better keep vehicles off such sections.
1st!!! Lol I had to!!
did you guys air down? because that will lower the vehicle.
We always air down unless going to the store :)
more adventures sir and looking forward watching more overlanding videos
Too much technically. Just go and when you go down the obstacles use your brake to go down easy.
Michael, you’re not fooling anyone. We all know darn well that you’re creating damage on purpose just so you can justify geting the new Ford bronco LOL LOL LOL. You’re not fooling us ha ha
Hahahaha
I was going to say the same 😉
I thought the same!!!

I have a question; why are you wearing masks in the great outdoors? Is it to protect you from the road dust?
Dust. And we always have them handy in general. 👍🏼
Instead of taking “routes” like that I suggest you take a sledgehammer to your trucks. That doesn’t look like something any sane person would do on purpose.
I already took a sledgehammer to it. That’s how i got the tires to fit. 😂
