How is this a "High Mass"? High Mass would usually consist of the "Asperges" rite, no laypeople in the procession (except for the acolytes), no concelebration (other priests should be vested in cassock and surplice with a maniple on the left arm), and the use of a deacon and sub-deacon. Not to mention the implementation of the traditional use of the all-male acolytes. And where is the Master of Ceremonies? Also, what is the need for applause after the final blessing? If one is to clap, save it for after the choir has finished singing the recessional hymn. When incensing the Book of the Gospels, three double swings of the thurible should be used. Not three single swings. Another thing, the acolytes (deacon and subdeacon if this really was a High Mass) should be holding the chasuble when the priest is incensing. As for the offertory, the acolyte is holding the chain farthest from the thurible in the right hand when it should be in the left. The priest is only incensed with three double swings of the thurible, the incensing done in this video seems rushed and poorly done. I have nothing to say about the incensing of the con-celebrants as there are usually no concelebrants during High Mass, only clergy sitting "in choir", which is rare for your weekly High Mass. As with the incensing of the congregation, it is typical for two sings to the right, two swings to the nave, and two swings to the left. The acolyte in this video seems unaware of how erratically they swing the thurible. The incensation during the Consecration should be three triple swings at each elevation of the host and chalice. Not a series of single swings as would do when incensing the altar. It should be noted that the thurifer and/or boat-bearer should genuflect before the altar as only the crucifer and candle-bearers are permitted to bow as it is difficult to genuflect while holding the processional cross and processional candles. As for the ringing of the bells, why would one ring them throughout the procession? The bells during the procession should only be rung once or twice before the procession begins. The bells should be rung three times at the beginning of the "Sanctus". During the Canon of the Mass, the bells should be rung only once, not throughout it. And during the elevation of the Body and Blood of Christ, three times (once at the elevation, once when the host or chalice is placed back on the altar, and once at the genuflection of the priest). It can also be rung three times when the host or chalice is elevated, followed by the ringing at the placing down of the Sacred Species and the genuflection of the priest. It saddens me, as a Filipino altar server (not a sacristan, as a sacristan is a person in charge of the sacristy and its contents), to see how the most Catholic country in Asia can be a place of so many liturgical abuses. May you be given the wisdom to return sanity and sanctity to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
