I know the feeling. When I saw Black Flag I had the same experience. I went out and bought a guitar. Though the Stooges were a bigger influence than Black Flag,I was too young to see the Stooges.
Interesting comment and perhaps true, but I think we'll see a resurgence in this type of playing where the 'chops' compliment the song and polish it, rather than the mindless fretboard widdling of 'ME' generation guitarists that actually bore people and turn music into a noise
