- Affordable aquarium CO2 system to help grow your aquatic plants! A review of two types aquascaping CO2 kits. I compare a Neo yeast fermentation type CO2 system vs Ziss citrate/bicarbonate CO2 system for planted aquascapes.
Planted tanks benefit greatly from CO2 injection for photosynthesis because the CO2 dissolved in water is much less than in the air. Submersed plants need CO2 just like their land counterparts.
Pressurized CO2 tank systems require expensive equipment to start. They also require access to a place where the cylinders can be exchanged, which may not be available near where you live.
These cheap kits can be refilled at home for convenience.
I have high hopes that this little unit will help my plants thrive. At the moment they look like they are all hanging on for dear life 😂
Great video! I was wondering how much water you added to the bottom container? The instructions that came with it don't mention adding any to the baking soda. Thanks!
I use this recipe
260 grams citric acid in 150 grams water for the top
200 grams baking soda + 150 grams water for the bottom
Using a dry powder only bottom leads to a lot of undissolved baking soda
great video!! very informative
Glad it was helpful!
If anyone wonders this generates 160g of 95% pure CO2.
How much water did you mix with baking soda?
formula 260 grams Citric Acid in 150 grams water + 200 grams Baking Soda in 150 grams water
