    About a decade ago I bought a “banshee bungee” for skating and snowboarding. Just bought a foil and stoked it might work for this.

      That’s awesome! I’d love to see it in action. Please send a video when you’re flying. Wakethief@icloud.com

    Perfect for pumping practice! That AXIS 1150 wing is a game changer

    Nicely done! Bought materials last year but ran out of time. This video is the motivation I need and now know I can make it work. Thanks for posting.

    Another great video. I am finding dock starting is more difficult than I expected. I'm thinking a bungee could be the trick. I have no experience behind a boat but I windfoil. I have a pond, a dock, and a John Deere Gator. What do you think of this plan:
    1. Secure bungee bar to post on dock.
    2. Secure other end of bungee to rear of Gator on shore near dock.
    3. Drive Gator along the shore until proper tension/distance is gained. SET PARKING BRAKE ON GATOR.
    4. Sit on dock with feet on board, lift bar off post and take off.
    Thanks for ideas!

      Please be safe. Just the other day, when I was hooking one end of the bungee with a little tension on it, it pulled me into the rocks on my lakefront. You might not even need the gator, depending on how clear/direct the path is. It will help a lot to have a buoyant board. If you have a large wing it will help too. Good luck!

      Thank you. I really enjoy it too. I’m making a video that gives an update after 200+ launches. I made some design changes. Will share that in 2 weeks.

    This is great thx! Do you think the slingshot 9 liter board would be too small for this? I weigh 176 lbs.

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  3 года назад

      It is not if you have the right front wing. At your weight, and with this ~10L board, And at the bungee’s full elongation, I would guess you need a front wing or at least 1500sqcm with an aspect ratio of >6.5

    Do you have an update on materials used for building a bungee launch? Curious if you've made changes to the setup listed here.

      Once I learned to dock start I’ve abandoned the bungee.

    Very cool, Have seen you on a Slingshot i99, Have you been successful on a Slingshot i84?
    Also what is approximate diameter of each piece of the bungie cord?

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  4 года назад

      Yes. Works very well with both 84 and 99, even with the 11L Dwarfcraft board. If you have a more buoyant board, it will be even easier. I believe it’s 3x ~3/8” ropes.

      Hi Foiling NY,
      Which fuselage position do you use for the i84?
      I use C position for windfoiling, from the video, it looks like you are using B, please confirm.

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  4 года назад

      I use B. I’ve never tried C though

    Great video! I'm looking to do a similar set-up. I'm finding it hard to find 3/8 inch bungee chord with listed 220% stretch. Did you get yours on Amazon? Thanks!

      I purchased mine from Horue. Pls google Horue catapult

    This looks fantastic, thrilling to see you're using as a routine part of your foiling. I have the extra limitation of no dock! Do you think the bungee could be beefed up enough to allow waterstarts? I was thinking two people to extend the bungee and connecting to a rope with a kite-leash quick release, which could be triggered by the other person, i.e. tree-rope-bungee-handle-rope-QR-rope-tree
    Also, isn't the hockey puck dangerously close to the family jewels?

    • @WakeThief

      Lol. Thanks, Abraxas. I appreciate the comment & questions. I do think the system you describe could work. I am preparing another video that shows some improvements I've made. Good luck.

      @@WakeThief looking forward to the update. I’d be interested to see luggage scale-type readings from the bungee.

    • @abraxaf

      @@WakeThief and not to be too demanding, but it would be interesting to see the bungee doubled: half the runway but twice the force.

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  4 года назад

      @@abraxaf Interesting idea! I think you need probably 5-10m or runway to get going, even with a big force.
