As a heads up, the Secret Lair Cards that were from outside the universe of magic, were put into new sets going forward from this set onwards. For Streets, I believe they stated the Stranger Things series would be put into this set, with them coming in 1 in every 6 packs for Streets. The Walking Dead ones should be coming in the future, the only difference between the cards are that they have a new name and art to replace the licensed art.
I looked it up and the List is completely different now, there are no more commons and uncommons on the list, only rares and mythics. This makes the set boosters a LOT better all of a sudden.
20:50: Those foils look different because they are different foil treatment, the one on the left is a regular foil, while the one on the right is a gilded foil. You can also see they have different collector numbers.
Hey Joey, if you were still confused about the Mind Flail, Cecily, Sophina, Hargilde, Havengul Lab, Elmar and the Othelm, those are "reprints" of the Stranger Things Secret Lair set that was available around October 2021. They had put the cards from that Secret Lair into the new set but as original creations, but keeping the same abilities, so if you never got that Secret Lair pack, there is your second chance getting the cards. Hope that helps you with that confusion.
Well, Stranger Things does come back at the end of next month. Wouldn't be surprised if they filled the List slot because they're huge fans of the show.

I just feel like they could have done something better with this set. There was no real hype for me with the tri color and lots of difficult casting costs. It is like a smorgasbord of mechanics being introduced with no real theme to everything. Usually in a set, everything flows and there is a theme to the color combinations. But with this, they decided the theme for you for little tweeking, you have to do it this way or it won't work.
Arvinox is the alternate print from the stranger things secret lair. They're only putting mechanically unique cards in the list slot from secret lairs with different names and art. According to what wizards said they were going to do with the list in this set, this is totally normal.
The “faded” foil nimble larcenists is a Normal foil version and the really nice one is a guilded foil… the showcase cards can come in ether of the two foiling process’s
Dude I'm more hyped for this than I was kamigawa, those gilded foils are GODLY, but I swear whoever thought they should do golden age showcase with normal foil... they do look faded. More +1/+1 counters are cool too I guess.
I am already in love with this set! The gilded foils look simply amazing, I will make a collection out of those for sure. New Triomes, New Phyrexian card, hard hitting The list cards and the best about it is: there are still doubters out there! I will be picking up your cards then while you guys wait for the overhyped brothers set ;)
Hey Joey, about the stamped cards: It's basically the equivalent of an artist's signature, except that the artist for that card was employed by WotC when they created it. By company policy, the artist does not own that art, the company does. So WotC won't let them put their signature on it unless the artist created it when not in the employ of the company.
From the Collecting Streets of New Capenna article: "1 in 8 Streets of New Capenna Set Boosters will contain a card mechanically identical to the Secret Lair cards. Each of those nine cards drops at the same relative rate."
I'm a fan of the theme for this set. I'll definitely be picking some of these up. The +1/+1 counters count for the modified keyword from the last set. 🤔
I picked up a playset of the esper charms in showcase foil, 4 Shadow of mortality regular foil, and 4 Shakedown heavy in regular foil. The only cards I've speculated in a set before its when released. And even if they don't go up, they will have a home in my decks
Local card shops need to open boxes for singles and bulk commons/uncommons so having a dope ass homey Joey open them for you AND advertise on his killer channel AND we get some content out of it? So cool.
Set list is only 68 cards with a 1in 8 chance of it being replaced by a secret lair replacement card, the list cards are all generally good now so the pull rate has been changed to 1 in 8 but maybe not see how many you pulled, you pulled a normal foil and a gilded foil of the same card
For the Magic-Themed Secret Lair cards (all being themed to the Magic Universe of the original Stranger Things cards) each one has "=SLD###" Which tells you exactly which card it is a functional identical to. Maybe because of this, there will be a new rule that cards with this little snippet allows you to only have four of each card with the same SLD number if they are from an SLD drop but also have a functionally identical card in the new list format.

People got mad because you could only get the universes beyond cards, walking dead and stranger things cards (that are legal in formats like commander) only through secret lair, so wizards made versions that look like they could be in the mtg universe and starting with new capenna are putting them in the list slot.

For the last twenty or so years in magic, there’s always been a power set than low power set. Ikoria was a low power set. And kamigawa was a power set. A lot of the cards in SNC are underwhelming in strength. Don’t forget where magic is going this fall: the brothers war. I expect that set to be straight power considering the facts. And if you disagree consider why half the mythic rares are commander cards.
I was kinda interested in this set because of the edh potential in the set and now that I know some of the story of the set since I'm a mtg lore fan I'm vary excited basically the mob bosses are all Demon's that took over the plaine from the Angel's and sealed them away somehow

If the artist does not provide a signature it should just not be available as a "signed" version so you have more chances to actually get the ones with signatures. Even if they are all just stamps currently they still look nicer than a gold Planeswalker symbol

People freaked out that creepy Basement Taco Man in Florida was going to buy them all out and stick in his vault. So putting them in set booster box list slot like nine months after, with a new name as a comprise to the community.
Those secret lair cards are the alternate versions of the stranger things secret lair, just so they are available and people don't whine like they did about TWD secret lair, which I bought, and made decks with. people can complain all they want but they are 100% legal for commander

I’m pretty sure from what I understand, that a lot of the artists didn’t want to submit a signature for the gold inks. Wizards obviously can’t make them sign if the artist choose not to. I believe that’s why there’s a golden stamp on certain art cards instead of the signature

every art card has a sign and non sign card. the ones that are gold stamp is because they could not get the sign from the artist. or in some cases the artist is no longer with us. some of the artist also cant do signatures because they do work with other groups and cant do them. on another note is pepole still want to collect them and will go on ebay and tcg to get them
Not sure what the hype for this set is....the art is nice, but the cards itself and their abilities wont hold up in the long run (in terms of modern or legacy play). The driving prices will only be commander. I won't be buying packs from this set for the first time in a while and will just buy singles.
Wizards already said that the Secret Lair cards with unique mechanics will have an improved pull rate in the List. This is so that people who do not want to buy the Secret Lair cards will be able to pull these cards. Good to see that the rate is indeed pretty high.

The SLX cards are the replacement for the stranger things cards.
They have the original card number on them like SLD 346

every art card has a sign and non sign card. the ones that are gold stamp is because they could not get the sign from the artist. or in some cases the artist is no longer with us. some of the artist also cant do signatures because they do work with other groups and cant do them. on another note is pepole still want to collect them and will go on ebay and tcg to get them

Not sure what the hype for this set is....the art is nice, but the cards itself and their abilities wont hold up in the long run (in terms of modern or legacy play). The driving prices will only be commander. I won't be buying packs from this set for the first time in a while and will just buy singles.
Wizards already said that the Secret Lair cards with unique mechanics will have an improved pull rate in the List. This is so that people who do not want to buy the Secret Lair cards will be able to pull these cards. Good to see that the rate is indeed pretty high.
I heard about Kanigawa set booster boxes that had all rare list hits.. could be pseudo 'god' list boxes?

It's hilarious how confused you are by universes beyond and their spot in set boosters I definitely think there's a lot of information to keep up with when it comes to magic the gathering these days at the same time you run an MTG channel like this is kind of your job why are you so unaware?
