Disciples 2 is perhaps one of the best games in this class ever made. Combine the amazing character and unit art with its dark fantasy vibes and you have a classic.
Odd i remember playing Disciples 2: Servants of the Dark. But i cant remember playing this one lol. Disciples 2 was a fun game, with some great artwork and style.
Hell yea, Disciples 1 and 2 are some of my favourite games! They were popular here in central/eastern Europe and were the only real competition Heroes of Might and Magic ever had (if you don't count Age of Wonders, but that's a different kind of game imo)
@@CopperPlaysRetro Yep, normal maps have all buildings unlocked. Disciple 2 will be insane compared to this, you'll love it. Everything from graphics and story to gameplay is vastly improved. The Rise of the Elves expansion is also god tier. I think the GoG version has them both but I'm not 100% sure.
4 Factions with 4 missions each. About 1-2 hours per mission. Hit chance is very bad at 70% for most units. Unit's LvL cap pretty early so it's hard to overpower your enemy , end game is mostly about using short term buffs for hard fights. The final Human mission has no end boss really though , just a take and hold map. Disciples 2 is better across the board. The Art Style goes from Anime look here to Dark Gothic.
@@CopperPlaysRetro Play Servants of Light and Dark ( Galleons Return ) for Base 4 factions. Only play Rise of the Elves for the elf missions , its missing 3 missions for each other faction. They never released a complete full version with everything its split in two.
That game (and it's sequel) definately got past me unnotice - at the time i was obsessively playing Jagged Alliance 2 and on/off System Shock 2 - I think that was the whole year for me, since I was also still in school, so my available time was limited to two or three hours per day at maximum on week days. (Btw., JA2 might be of interest to you for a longer series. The first hour is pretty slow, but then the game takes of like a rocket...let me know if you're intrested, I can give you a couple of tips that will help you start off a bit easier - I also got about half way through on my own channel the last time, feel free have a look)
Ah yes, it looks like we play a lot of similar games. I can remember Sir You're Being Hunted from way back when I was at University! Had forgotten about it. Also WindForge and Starbound. Redfaction had amazing destruction physics for the time, I don't know of a game that's done it better since. A lot of games on my Wishlist but never got around to playing as well like Curious Expedition and Balrum. Yes I will cover the Jagged Alliance games, maybe play though them on Stream one day.
Love the esthetics of the game, but I'm not sure if i like it. I played it before got to mission 3 with the undead faction, forgot about it until I saw your video now.

Art was amazing, idea was groundbreaking. Gameplay was good. Music was atmospheric.
Graphics was pasable.

I'm looking forward to trying Disciples 2! I'm going to try a normal game of Disciples 1 as well to see if that unlocks the buildings.

Thank you for showing us this one. Interface leaves a bit to be desired, but art and atmosphere is pleasing. Looking forward to the sequel.
"How's it goin!" Our retrogaming overlord hath blessed us this week. Cup runeth over.
How can I never heard about this awesome game
If you like it, Disciples II plays about the same and has better graphics! Check it out after this!
With that thumbnail and title I was half expecting some jesus christ in nasareth antics. I have never even heard of or seen this game before.

I've picked up Disciples 2 and will cover it soon!

Never played this one on easy. Seems you get WAY more money and really easy opponents.
Yeah, this was the first campaign mission so that might be why
Try Disciples 2
I always wondered how D 1 looks like... And I am not impressed :)
