Jakobi was the comfort foot for Mac, and one of the only dependable receivers. He was also a fan favorite. In my opinion, Jakobi and Bourne had playing time cut/limited or traded due them speaking out in the media, in ways that Bellichick did not like.

@jimkozubek4026 They both told it like it was. Belichick, being a stickler, has never appreciated that. After he let Bernie Kosar go in Cleveland, the Browns fan base basically ran him out of town. The pressure on Kraft to fire him will be immense, especially if the Pats go 4-13 or worse.

It was awesome how he came to the Patriots and made the team as a free agent. I hope Meyers has 11 catches, 2 TDs, and 200 yards this Sunday against his old team. He wanted to stay so bad. It would be poetic justice for him to have a great game this Sunday against the Patriots.

Yea I knew it the second it happened that we would regret letting Meyers go... Made ZERO sense to not pay him a few bucks for what he provided Mac and this offense. A safety net that Mac trusted and had really good chemistry with, when he didn't have much with anyone else.. Bills lost it. You could not sign a guy like that and throw in whoever you wanted with Brady and still compete.. Can't do that anymore and I'm not sure he understands how to build an offense at all.. This is a complete and utter dumpster fire and it all falls on Bill for me. Way way too much blame going to Mac when yes he's been bad, but he's been ruined by Bill and I'm really not sure what qb wouldn't look bad with this offense right now

I am deeply grateful to BB for his job over the last 20 plus seasons. He has been great. Problematically, he is no longer great. The season is over (because personnel cannot be fixed). The Kraft’s need to make BB’S exit as graceful as possible, erect statues, put his name on a street, in the stadium and ask him to be a consultant/advisor. But the next coach has to be an offensive mind. It’s a tragedy that the staff will be dismantled, but it has to happen. One cannot keep everyone but BB and hope that some kind of BB hive mind remains. It will not. I recall the Celtics rebuilding twice after the Bill Russel/Auerbach era (Dave Cowens and etc/Bird and etc). It’s ok. It’s sports. The good times will return the faster the Patriots move. This is one hundred percent about the ownership now. The. Krafts have to do a great job. Simple enough.

Myers was the best receiver last year and younger but Belichick let him go to pay juju the same money, shows how far the NFL has passed Belichick. Myers probably has more TDS than juju has catches this year. Belichick picks the players, coaches, trainers, down to the waterboys and this team sucks everywhere so sorry but that is on Belichick not Mac Jones. I never thought Mac would be a top 10 QB but Belichick is drafting long snappers, Holders and punters when the NFL is trying to do away with special teams. Brady was the ultimate eraser, look at his first year in Tampa, AB, gronk, lenord fornette, all came to Tampa to play with Brady and have a chance to win, same as it was in NE for years but Belichick took that for granted, took Brady's leadership for granted on top of his availability and on field presence . Brady was the ultimate eraser for Belichick and that's gone and Belichick is getting exposed. Put Mahomes on this team and they might, MIGHT go 8-9, 7-10. As great as Mahomes is he can't block, throw and catch every down. Let's not forget if Belichick has his way he wanted to go with Jimmy Glass in 2016/17 and thank god Kraft stepped in or pats and Belichick would have 5 rings instead of 6. He wanted to send gronk to Matt fricken Patricias lions and gronk basically said "trade me and I'll retire " yet gronk had the biggest catch in the SB against the rams and two years later had 2 tds in the Tampa SB, but Belichick was ready to trade him 3-4 years earlier. Belichick would of traded or released Belichick 3 years ago. Belichick is a fraud and the longer he is the head coach/GM the better Brady looks. How is coaches like Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin, harbough, Pete Carroll and so on can be competitive with multiple QBs? Heck Tomlin has NEVER had a .500 season with broken down former good QBs and no body rookies at QB yet "genius" Belichick can't go .500 with a 1st rnd QB or a previous MVP in cam Newton. Who's to say how many sbs would of been won if Tomlin or harbough or Reid had Brady for 20 years? Cause Belichick has been basically pathetic WITHOUT Brady. And I don't want to hear about 11-5 Matt Cassel 15 years ago, that was a 16-0 team, a one eyed QB could.of won 9 games with that team. People also bring up Brady being a "game manager" in the first few superbowls, Brady threw for over 300 yards in 2of 3 of those superbowls and had game winning drives on all 3, that's not game manager. And the teddy bruschi, Willie mcginest, ty law, lawyer Milloy, troy brown even Adam venetari were all drafted by bill PARCELS not Belichick.

  • @jays1752
    @jays1752 Год назад +2

The biggest drop off with the Patriots from 2018 on is the incredible amount of mistakes the team has repeatedly made. It's even directly lost them games on multiple occasions. And what that tells me is Bill has lost the room. Players are part of a brotherhood. Watch the way they smile and hug after the game. They know the power they have as the reason the fans fill the seats and they aren't giving it to any old white guy who thinks he's got a special formula for winning. Bill's mistake was trying to prove he could win without stars, that he could coach his way to victory. The NFLPA (and that extends of course, to his own players) didn't look too kindly on that philosophy. And hence why suddenly a team that was know for two decades for their discipline, can't stop taking dumb penalties, can't stop blowing assignments, and has little to no toughness. The game in Buffalo where Mac through 3 passes was the end for Bill. His players were humiliated by his old school coaching. It was technically a win but it wasn't a victory. What it said to his players and the rest of the league is Bill thinks of himself as bigger than the talent that people pay to see. Who, in the current NFL, would buy into that system? The only reason it worked with Tom is because Brady was obsessed with legacy and was willing to do anything to win. Anything. And they did win early and often but without Brady, Belichick lacks the connection to the locker room he had with Tom and now he's a man alone. But he doesn't know it yet. Or he knows it and is stubbornly thinking he can smart his way out of it. But he can't. His goose is cooked. The only way to salvage his legacy is to go to another team with a QB that is both good and obsessive about wining. And that doesn't exist in the NFL anymore. Money is far more important than SB rings to the vast majority of the currant NFL players. And how are you going to get a big contract if your coach doesn't even let you throw the ball?

    “Bill ruined Mac!”
    Finally, you’ve seen the light.
The formula for finding a franchise QB has been pretty standard for the past 15 years. Draft a QB in the 1st Round. Surround him with a solid OL, good weapons, and a stable coaching structure. Then let him start for 1-2-3 years to see whether he can be “The Guy”.
If he is, then you’ll be paying him $35-45 MM/yr. If not, you get to start the process all over again
Not only did the Pats NOT help Mac, but they’ve seem to have put obstacles in his way.
The OL has gotten worse each year, to the point where they are now the worst OL in the League. Can’t run block or pass block.
Weapons?? What weapons? They didn’t sign any viable WRs, they let Jacobi Myers walk, and they are relying on late round picks for their offense.
Don’t get started on the coaching stability. Did anyone think that the Patricia-Judge experiment was ever going to work? How did that pass the WTF test at Patriot Place?
Forget about salvaging this season. IT’S OVER!
They are 1-4. They still have to play Buffalo twice, Kansas City, and have an away game in Miami. Those are 4 losses. The best they could do would be 9-8. Does anyone seriously believe that this team can win all their remaining games? And for what? A 7th place finish and first round loss??
We’re on to 2024. Time for a new GM who knows how to build a modern roster. I can’t see how any viable GM would want to come to NE while BB is still coaching. Most GMs want to pick their coach. If Kraft wants Mayo to succeed Bill, the GM would have to agree to that.
As far as Mac goes, that’s going to be very tricky. A new GM might be inclined to trade Mac for salary cap reasons. The advantage of a rookie QB is 4-years of friendly cap hits. That would end in 2024. A new GM might want to get a few more years of a rookie salary to have sufficient cap space to sign free agents.
It’s a mess and I just don’t see any road for success this year.

Therefore: 1) Kraft must hire a new GM immediately, no matter what BB says, so the new GM will have time to prepare for next year, 2) Malik is mobile -- the only Pats' QB who can deal with a porous o-line, 3) stop chastising Boutte and give him more experience, and 4) say farewell to BB at the end of the season -- at 71 his brain cells are decreasing -- and hire a flexible, dynamic, brainy coach who understands contemporary offense, for example, McDaniels if available.

Bill is also not very self aware. A man needs to know his limitations. Bill the GM will get Bill the coach fired. No coach could get this team to win, none. That issue is all on Bill. I never understood letting Meyers go and letting Folk go. It’s as if he could careless about the offense. It was not the defense that was making NE a garbage team, it’s the offense. It’s going to take years of drafting to fix this issue. You can’t buy an NFL lineup.

Need a genuine offensive coach (Shanahan/McDaniel/etc) to steer the ship. Need a GM who is complementary to the coach (Example SEA with Carol and Scheider). Once those pieces are set, then the rest will follow. Pats are now “the Jets” and “the Browns” in that they ruined Mac Jones. I think MJ will have a career as a backup (Ex: Minshew) so the only lesson here is that new coach has to have a demonstrated ability to develop a QB (or have an OC with that resume tick). This season will be about 3-14. BB will retire with a push from ownership. Not going to waste time on Pats until they make the right moves.
