Working in IT, I have a lot of Indian coworkers. And in my previous job, we had 2 out of 3 people who had their marriages arranged by their parents. So it is still going on to some degree.

The key to comedy is to laugh at the characters most prominent flaws! That's why some of the funniest characters are often people you wouldn't ever want to get involved with in real life (like Sheldon here, or Barney in How I Met Your Mother, for examples)
Thanks for doing Big Bang. There aren’t very many reactors doing this show and it’s one of the best shows. Gave you a new sub. Hope you keep going with this show.
A former colleague of mine was in an arranged marriage, he had never met the girl and had to start getting to know her over the phone, because they lived on different sides of the world and he had to go to India to meet her for the first time just before the wedding Man it feels so weird, but that is how it is with different cultures, doesn't mean it is wrong, easier to find partners at least 🤪
@@clayprice7626 Is it better than being alone? I love spending time alone, if I was to spend significant time with someone, I have to really like them.
As far as the "kicked in the samosas" is not likely to be said-- it'd be kicked in the laddoos. 😂 I live in India and my Indian mother in law calls my 4 year old son's his "laddoos" which is a round sweet common here.
Well in German we say "tritt in die eier" which translated word for word would mean "kick in the Eggs" rather then "kick in the balls" like american say.
Yay, TBBT Tuesday! I've been looking forward to this since last week. I agree with some of the other comments about being upset with Penny, giving someone alcohol without their knowledge is BAD!
A lot of what Howard says is either tongue and cheek, or pure sarcasm. Don’t take anything that Howard says too seriously. You’re reading too much into him. As for Penny spiking the drink - Penny didn’t do it to a random stranger. She is friends with all the guys and knows that none of them would ever get upset enough to sue her or her job over something like that. She was watching Sheldon and would have told Leonard to take him home if something went wrong. She does genuinely care about all of them and wouldn’t do anything to actually harm them. You’re reaction to that just shows that maybe you need to loosen up. Waaay too uptight, dude. Chill.
As someone who is teetotal I’m not comfortable with Penny spiking the drink. It takes away Sheldon’s ability to consent to something which could drastically change his behaviour and affect his health. She doesn’t know why he doesn’t drink, it could be for any number of reasons, including dietary intolerance or past alcoholism. I don’t think getting drunk is a decision one person gets to make for another. Overall I really like this show, but there are parts of it that do make me wince rather than laugh.
This show is hilarious! Sheldon definitely makes the show as good as it is. Very clever as well. One character I don’t really like because she treats Leonard like crap is Penny. Ugh!
As an adult that does not drink, I am not fond of people that trick non-drinkers into drinking.
13:32 - "I don't think Chinese people say they get kicked 'in the dumplings'." Hilarious!
Maybe try “kicked in the pot stickers”? 😆
IRL, Kaley Cuoco (who plays Penny) broke her leg whilst horseriding, so that's why she's hidden by the bar in this episode.
That happened in Season 4, this is Season 1, so that didn't happen until way later
@@gojordan yeah
Isn’t that the accident where she almost lost her leg?

Omg yayy
In Howard’s defence, a Slippery Nipple is an actual drink. If I remember correctly it’s a shot consisting of grenadine, sambuca and Irish cream.
I don't understand why people who apparently hate these characters are watching this reaction?
I guess to share their hate with someone?

L'Chaim, L'Chaim, to life

Drinking L'Chaim to life🎶
I dont know why, but i vibed pretty well on that song.
By the way, L'chaim is the hebrew equivalent to cheers and it's literal meaning is "to life"
@@shomershabbos6291 yup. That song is from Fiddler on the Roof (which they were discussing at the beginning of the episode)

Arranged marriages actually did serve a purpose, everyone ends up with someone it's better than someone ending up alone not by choice like me
My parents were arranged to be married. They still don't have a good marriage.
Lots of people who choose their partner don't have good marriages but being/dying with someone is better than no one
That is why we have partnerships.

NGL, "getting kicked in the dumplings" is a great euphemism!
Chinese people may not say it, but they should start, imo!

Indian here and no we never say "he/she kicked me in the somosa". American shows tend to stereotype other cultures.
It’s a joke. Lighten up. I don’t get offended when shows or movies stereotype my culture. It’s meant to be funny, not serious.
This show stereotypes EVERYONE. That’s the point of the comedy.
